"If i...dont follow my destiny i die, and i cant really do that at all.

she sighed

"im cerise hood, you?

Lucien gives a soft smile.

"You do not have any idea how happy I am to hear that. I would dare to say that you three have, so far, been some of the best friends that one could ask for."

He then blinks, and shakes his head, holding up his hands.

"Oh, it is not a problem at all! That definitely does sound like an important mission, and, after the good time we had, I would not want to make you feel like you had overstayed your welcome...though, I must ask, now that you have piqued my interest...what exactly are you tracking?"

Grymm raises an eyebrow.

   "Not anything dangerous, is it? Wouldn't want any monsters roamin' about in an area where innocent folks could get hurt..."   

"... I'm not gonna pretend I get that, but you should at least make the most of your time."

Alexa puts a hand over her chest. "Alexa Randey. Nice to meet you, Cerise."

Sporacles is the guy to commit an unnecessary dodge-roll now, to avoid the ball of fire aimed at the group.

"Ey!"

He unloads a Cooked Peeper◊ at 60kmh before running past Alatreon, trying to slash at its legs with Ice Knife on the way by.

she smiled a little, it seemed she was feeling just a little better, though notably was still holding her hood

"its uh, kind of a funny story on why im like this, my mom and dad met by almost killing each other"

Varik is on guard the moment he hears the beating of wings, and witnesses Alatreon appear.

Then the fireball comes, and Varik quickly leaps out of the way, ending up just far enough to avoid getting hurt, though the ensuing explosion does nearly knock him off of his feet.

But he stays standing, his aura forming as the dragon turns their surroundings into a burning inferno.

When it roars and rears up, Varik notices what Reyna's planning, and so decides to stay in Alatreon's line of sight himself, casting Sleepstun to try to put the huge dragon to sleep, the psychic energy exuding in colorful, glowing circles meant to hypnotize the beast. Sure, the chance of a creature like this being this easily dealt with is pretty much non-existent, and Varik knows that, but in case it does work, Varik sees no reason not to try, as Sleepstun is more effective against living beings, which he assumes Alatreon is.

The other reason why he considers this worth a try is because, even if it fails, it's highly likely to keep Alatreon's attention on him, and thus hopefully won't notice Reyna as she's charging her attack.

"Oh, well, it's this giant creature I saw over a month ago. It saved me from freezing to death after I passed out in the snow.", Ninten says.

"Maybe one of you knows what it is? Here's a description. It's a huge creature. It has six arms, with each pair of arms having a different size compared to the others, and two of the three pairs has some sort of strange armor on the underarms. Its legs are very long and thin, but its hips are pretty wide. Every part of its face above its mouth is covered in similar armor that has horns on it, so as far as I could tell it doesn't have a nose or eyes. And lastly, it has what I think are bone wings, but instead of normal wings, which connect to shoulderplates, or shoulders, or sometimes arms, they seem to be connected to its back, and they go up and down very far, but they don't go to the side much, which is kinda weird for wings."

"We have access to camera footage in the base we stay in. While, of course, it doesn't show everything that goes on in the Arena at all times, we only have one camera, but there aren't any moments on the feed we do have when a creature with such a description appears in any of the areas.", Lloyd says.

"Not that we don't believe Ninten, he wouldn't lie about that, but I can't really imagine anything looking like that. So we came here to see if there was any trace of that creature in the area.", Ana says.

"Lucien, Grimm, have either of you ever seen a creature before that looks like how I described it?", Ninten asks. "I don't really know if it's dangerous, but it saved my life when it could've just left me to die and allowed me to leave freely after I woke up, so I don't think it's something that would threaten innocent people."

Alexa laughs nervously. "Well, my own relationship had a rocky start. Not that rocky, though."

"my dad doesnt go out very much, hes not very well liked"

she sighed

"I just wanna do something with him outside, but we cant.

Vs. Alatreon

Megan dodged left and slid into cover behind a rock, where she proceeded to rapidly load up her revolver with a full eight rounds of cryo-ammo — which she proceeded to fire three of.

One she aimed at the horns, another at the dragon's arms, and the last was aimed with a bit more care at the dragon's tail. Hopefully, her elemental rounds in combination with Varik's magic would be enough for the Alatreon to consider them the larger problems rather than focusing on Reyna.

So far, no reaction to the damage. Alatreon draws its head back and spits a fireball at the ground, which splits into three lines of molten cracks in front of it, centered on Varik. These three lines proceed to erupt explosively, blowing away anyone standing on them and inflicting them with a nasty Fireblight - ie. damage over time.

Reyna is vibing in the corner.

"That bad, huh? Well... just keep looking for a solution, then. Everyone deserves a happy ending."

Varik tries to dive to the side again, but the explosion from the molten crack closest to him still hits him, making him fall on the ground and get affected by Fireblight.

"Shit...", he groans, feeling the pain. He gets back on his feet and casts Cleanse on himself, relieving his body of status conditions.

"I have to be mindful with my mental energy if I want to keep fighting.", he thinks to himself. He then stands in place, charging up.

Is he seriously standing still in front of Alatreon? Surely he's trying to lure it into a trap. No way does he actually expect Alatreon to just let him stand there, right?

Lucien and Grymm listen to the description, looking contemplative. After a while, the two come up with quite different reactions, with Grymm looking rather perplexed, while Lucien takes on a serious expression.

   "Well, I can't say I've ever seen something like that firsthand, but the closest I can think of is the weird things that slip through the cracks of reality from time to time in our world. They're called Abberations, and they come from a sort of interdimensional nexus that separates different planes of existence, called the Far Realm. Abberations generally tend to be the exact opposite of helpful, though, since their very presence tends to drive people insane. The ones that don't actively try to have your brain or thoughts for lunch are generally just...weird."   

"I am wont to agree with Mister Grymm, though I have had some more experience with the matter. My home realm has, among other things, entities such as the ones that he describes, but it also has Deities who are said to be just as abstract, and not only in my world, but in many others that I have visited on my self-imposed exile. Whatever this being is, it definitely sounds quite powerful indeed. I would advise to be very careful if you desire to pursue this creature, as it may very well not wish to be pursued at all. If it is as kind and benevolent as you say, I can only wish you luck on your quest to find out more about it. It could prove a very useful ally...if one was able to befriend it. For now, it is too soon to be certain. In case it resurfaces before you and I meet again, I will definitely keep watch."

Ugo lands on Lucien's shoulder, making him smile.

"We all will."

"Ah... yeah, no, if that creature wanted my brain it pretty much had me at its mercy, so I don't think it was an Abberation.", Ninten says to Lucien, then turns to Grymm.

"So it may be some sort of god or abstract creature? That... sounds pretty plausible. Maybe we'll find out the answer if one of us finds it."

He then gets up from his chair, as do Ana and Lloyd.

"We do really have to go back now though. And while I've said it before, I'm gonna say it again: thanks for having us, it was fun!", Ninten smiles, holding out his hand for a handshake.

"Hopefully we'll see each other again, and hopefully things go well for you three.", Ana smiles, raising her hand too.

"They both basically said what I wanted to say.", Lloyd smiles, raising his hand as well.

Vs. Alatreon

Megan kept a close eye on Varik — he seemed to be accustomed to a different style of fight, as far as she could tell, and here it might be one that could get him killed.

"So, you fought a Nargacuga, eh?" she asked, in-between blasting two more shots at the dragon's head. "Hell of a wyvern, that one."

Sporacles handily avoids the fireball, by virtue of being behind Alatreon. He quickly scans the immediate area for any large structures (rocky arches, especially giant boulders, etc.), but that's not the current priority.

The scuba dude scutters up one rock, hops to another, jumps and kicks off a third before making a mad leap for Alatreon's back.

"WAAAGH!"

There are no big structures, but there is the ledge Reyna is currently at, and two more like it. They're just high enough to get some airtime if one jumped off of them.

Obviously, this is Reyna's gameplan.

Alatreon's head suddenly emits blue light as it roars and thrashes about. This is twofold - trying to knock Sporacles away, and also causing blue spots to appear on the ground all around Alatreon, which are followed by powerful lightning strikes. After the lightning strikes, more blue spots appear in different positions and call down lightning, which is followed by a third wave.

Anyone struck by the lightning will be inflicted with Thunderblight, causing subsequent hits (including the follow-up lightning strikes) to stun them more easily.

"Well, I don't know where to start either. Just keep at it. That's all I can really say."

"I dont really understand what i did to deserve my ears, or hwat i did to be this freak in general.

she looked down, and up

"I just know im dealing with the consequences."

Varik doesn't really respond. Either he's not one for smalltalk during battle, he doesn't know Megan was addressing him specifically, or he's just trying to focus purely on fighting and doesn't want to risk getting distracted. With his psychic powers, as much as he insists it's magic, he would need some focus in order to make full use of his powers.

When the blue spots start appearing, the third wave of spots has one of them target his location. He casts Barrier above him, blocking the incoming lightning strike (only barely holding out against it) and having the sparks hit the ground around him instead.

He then suddenly swings his sword, sending a medium strong energy blade right at Alatreon's right wing, attempting to damage it enough to slow the beast down.

"Reyna, hurry! I don't know how long I can defend myself if I don't start moving soon!", he thinks to himself.

Sporacles braces himself to be hit by the thrashing dragon, slashing down in front of him with surprising speed and precision. If is able to pierce Alatreon just right with his knives, he should be able to use them as makeshift handles to hang on during the swinging. Otherwise, he's probably thrown back into the rocks and dazed.

Vs. Alatreon

Megan dodged forward to avoid the lightning, purposely putting herself into Alatreon's "Instant Death" Radius — before she proceeded to unload her remaining rounds in the general direction of the dragon's head. With a flourish, she holstered her gun and brought out both her Ancient Spear and her longsword sword. She slashed upward with her sword, stepping backwards slightly, before she then stepped in with a thrust from her spear!

Sporacles manages to cling to Alatreon... for now. Varik's blade does something, at least - it leaves a visible mark on the wing, but doesn't manage to tear the flap.

Reyna, meanwhile, has used Power Charge to buff her hammer - after donning a shimmering bright-yellow mantle.

Alatreon turns and surrounds itself in crackling Dragon element, before leaping at Reyna with a speed that might just yeet Sporacles away.

Reyna, however, dodges with the Temporal Mantle, spiraling out of the way in a flash of light, and counterattacks by jumping off the ledge and delivering a brutal falling smash to Alatreon's side! But not only that, she fires her Clutch Claw at its head, performing a spinning bludgeon attack as she grapples towards its head if she connects!

"Well... I don't know how to answer that. I think I've said all I can."

Alexa turns away. "Let me know if you ever get your situation figured out."

"Apparently I make for an awful distraction.", Varik mutters as he runs after Alatreon.

Once close, he goes for a running slide, trying to slide underneath Alatreon and slash at its stomach with his sword.

"see you...i guess use a magical thing to find me if you want me or whatever.

"Wherever home is..

"Don't blame yourself, Varik," Megan said, noticing what he had said in the midst of her dueling with the dragon. "Elder Dragons from Reyna's universe are highly intelligent, by all account — it might have realized what we were trying."

She ducked underneath the dragon's tail as it spun around, before she made a cleaving slash at it with her longsword — and then quickly returned the blade to its sheath. With the dragon's attention on Reyna moreso than on her, she took a moment to reload her revolver with Dragonsealer Rounds, made from a mix of alchemical substances and dragonfell berries.

"Let's hope I got this mixture right, otherwise this gun might blow up in my hands."
