She starts charging energy in her hands, a red orb of electrical fire starting to form.

NLA: Developments. Big Ones.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?"

"Whatever it is, I don't think it's of this Earth... Thus, it shall die quickly and painfully!"

"Man, I almost like you. But let's not go right away."

The duo get in fighting stances, ready to react...

The Purple Worm starts building up flame in its mouth.

Magnus stops briefly, hunched over and panting.

He looks at the city, and at the Purple Worm in the distance.

Then he presses on.

Magnus Arrives in 4 Rounds

Daroach sighs and draws a claw across the brim of his hat, Jotaro-style. "Sic 'em."

All three of the Squeaks he summoned previously manifest again, all at once. This time, they're for real.

Spinni dashes at Omega, then suddenly leaps away and throws an oversized shuriken at it.

Doc zips all over the place before firing a weak electric bolt at the Batter.

Storo stomps towards Epsilon and tries to basically just pin it down under his massive girth.

Daroach teleports behind the ghost girl and readies his claws to try and block Alpha.

As Epsilon was frozen solid, it gets pinned without any trouble.

Omega dodges the charge, believing it to be Spinni's attack. It therefore gets fooled by the shuriken and knocked on the ground.

The Batter has more success, simply batting the bolt back towards Doc.

Daroach's teleportation has the negative side effect of startling the ghost girl, making her stop in her tracks. Daroach will quickly have to lunge at Alpha, or else its attack will hit.

"Burnt are Elsen, inhabitants of the world I'm from, who've been subjected to either harsh illness or extreme amounts of stress. The smoke they breathe is released and corrupts their minds and bodies and turns them into that, and stay like that until they're killed.", he says. "They become incredibly powerful and dangerous this way, but also completely berserk. I don't know how one's here though, all the Elsen are supposed to be long gone!"

He ponders.

Wait, no, Dedan mentioned one came with him, but he ditched him at some point before meeting us. One from Zone 2. No wonder he freaked out, those ones are stressed all the time.

He glances behind him and sees that the Burnt is chasing the three of them down.

"C'est vraiment mauvais. Without the Batter, we might not be able to defeat him if he catches up to us."

Blast away ! I'll go ahead and draw the huge kilometer long fire-breathing monster's attention to myself.

He flies up far in the sky and blasts at the worm with a combined blasts of his Unibeams, creating the kind of shock that even the Worm will find pretty nasty.

Could there be a way to perhaps slow it down for the "Batter" to arrive ?! says Lucina. When she notices that the monster is incoming, she grabs Laurent's hand and pull him next to her, to prevent it from catching up to him first.

Doc's ship gets hit by its reflected beam and almost immediately explodes.

Daroach rushes though Alpha with a Hunter Claw. He ends up on the other side of it even if he missed.

Then he falls over as a gash opens up on the side of his head. This time, he does not ready a Smack-in-the-Box. He just lies there on his side, huffing and sputtering.

She jumps back, before sticking her hands forwards.

The firey bolt swells for a second before exploding towards the worm.

Alpha meets Daroach's attack head-on, charging as well.

After the attack, it stays completely still for a bit, before shuddering, flailing and then falling on the ground, looking cracked all across it.

The Batter, seeing Alpha and Daroach wounded, charges in to try to get to the latter and finish him off. Omega, meanwhile, starts blurring around Daroach's allies, not really attacking, but trying to make it harder for them to interfere.

"Not that I know of, and there's no guarantee that the Batter will even show up."

He glances behind him again, seeing that the Burnt is still closing in.

"Merde. I'm gonna have to distract him. The two of you keep running."

I refuse to let you sacrifice yourself for the sake of us ! Surely there must be a way to triumph !

"Hey, I'm really fast, he won't get me. I have a girlfriend too, so I wouldn't say this unless I'm sure I can get out too. So don't worry about me, I'll be fine.", he says.

... Very well. I regret my decisions but ultimately, you have more skills in the matter. I shall trust you !

Lucina does so, picking up the pace with Laurent after a last solemn gaze and gesture;

Daroach grits his teeth and digs his hands into the ground, then suddenly jumps to his feet and goes directly for Batter's eyes with a Scratch Out.

Spinni flails his claw wildly, hoping to hit Omega.

Storo stays put.

NLA: Parched Earth

"You dare attack one of the Heavenly Kings? Hmph. I'LL JUST HAVE TO MAKE YOU REPENT!"

"As much as I hate quiet ones, I wish you would just SHUT UP!"

Susie fired a Rude Buster, a wave of dark energy that pulsed across the ground at the worm.

Yashiro punched the ground, damaging energy seeping out of the cracks created and hopefully doing something to the worm.

The Batter quickly halts, barely able to avoid getting his eyes slashed out. The sudden movement makes him drop his hat though, revealing his face◊ to Daroach.

He then reaches to his side with his bat, and Omega is suddenly pulled back to the Batter in an instant, allowing it to avoid the attack. The Batter then, with a surprisingly graceful spin, lashes out with his bat, hitting the air right next to Daroach, and sends Omega flying.

At the now once more-running ghost girl.

Then he'll quickly attempt to grab Daroach, trying to prevent him from getting to her with his teleportation.

When Lucina and Laurent start escaping, Zacharie stops and turns, barely in time to block the Burnt's claws with his sword. He tries to keep them locked and pushes against him, but is slowly losing, stepping back once.

"Might have to pull out everything here...", he mutters with a strained voice.

She keeps running, clearly a bit disgusted with herself for abandoning Zacharie. Laurent himself looks fairly saddened about the resolution of the fight.

The Purple Worm doesn't seem to react to much of anything even though it's being hit. It spits a massive explosion, like a mini-nuke, at Iron Man.

Then it burrows back underneath the earth, beginning to tunnel underneath Susie's feet...

Magnus Arrives in 3 Rounds

If you haven't caught on, this is less of a boss fight and more "survive until time is up". I have plans for an actual Purple Worm boss fight in the future, since this one was unprompted and spur-of-the-moment.

Daroach is about to just run for her when the Batter has him by the cloak. "Oh, for f-" He glances over at Storo. Nah, he's too slow. And Spinni's too small to stop it without getting hit himself. I'm... out of options...

All he can do is watch whatever happens next.

NLA: Panic Button

"Wait. That did nothing?"

"We're in over our heads- What's that rumbling?"

Susie looked down before putting two and two together, jumping out of the way in the nick of time.

Yashiro also rolled out of the way, only to try to punch the worm when it came up.

Stark is engulfed in the explosion, though by the times it fades, the armor's still up and operational. It has burns and scratches, yes, but far less than one would except it to. Inside the armor, Stark fires every coolant he can, as he flies down to tries to reach the worm.

Skin's thick and it shell out miniature nukes. Where's Thor when you need him ? he says, preparing a punch.

Omega hits the girl in the back of her head, making her fall down on the ground in pain as Omega bounces up a bit from the recoil.

For some reason, the Batter looks shocked, even letting go of Daroach. He then approaches the girl, but his body language has suddenly lost all hostility.

Once he gets close to the scared girl, he crouches down to look her over.

   "... She's not a Specter."   

Zacharie's back begins to glow as he pushes back once more, and...

Beat

Only a few seconds later, Lucina and Laurent may hear nothing behind them anymore. If they look, they'll suddenly see something blur right past them.

And if they look in front of themselves, they'll see Zacharie... and he has ''wings''!◊

"I managed to knock him into a wall and fled. We should be safe, but that Burnt will probably still rampage through the city until someone kills him.", he says.

Nagato decides not to bother attacking, if it can just take blasts like that.

She tries to help repair Tony's armor through data manipulation.

The Purple Worm erupts from beneath the ground, scattering chunks of asphalt everywhere - potentially in the directions of the other fighters.

Magnus Arrives in 2 Rounds

Daroach falls on his face and struggles onto his feet... somehow. "Ugh... heff... haff... I'm sorry, what? So this fight was pointless?"

Near Zacharie

Fu pops in. "Okay what the hell happened?! I tried to help that guy a while back, he just turned into a monster, and..." He is at a loss for words, but his face conveys nothing except sad confusion.

They stop after a few seconds and observes, when Lucina notices that Laurent is noticeably more tired, she embraces him one arm and keep her other arm primed in case the Burnt comes back somehow.

When they see that Zacharie survived, they look surprised and then pleased, though soon solemn as well.

It is my fault... I forgot to hide Falchion before encountering it. If I had been careful...

There will... always be missteps in approaching an unknown lifeform... we all make mistakes...

Lucina still looks fairly conflicted.

Stark attempts to get in front of the others and uses auto-aim, guns and repulsors to blast the alphalt away, in an attempt to significantly reduce the numbers of projectile for everyone involved. The asphalt just bounce off his armor, which is repairing itself at a faster rate.

Hang back, kids. he recommends, forming a super sharp Nanosword and boosting towards the worm, he attempts to nick a portion of skin with several cuts, using the sharp sword and the suit's Super Strength to attempt to get just a bit of it.

She snorts at Tony calling her a kid, even though it's technically true. Six years old and all.

Nagato fires some supporting molecular particle cutters at the worm.

   "Not exactly. This is odd. She is neither dead or alive. The Add-Ons would cut through either, but Omega bounced off of her. That means... she isn't a real person."   

He stands back up and crosses his arms.

   "She's some form of illusion. Or a projection. Whatever she is, another being is, for whatever reason they may have, tricking people into thinking there's a phantom trapped in a time loop."   

Zacharie looks at Fu.

"His stress overtook him and he changed into a Burnt. All we can do now is put him out of his misery. He'd stop being Burnt if we beat him, but he'd also die almost immediately afterwards."

He turns back to Lucina.

"It's not your fault. The Elsen from Zone 2 get scared by even thinking that they could get hurt. Books scare them because they could get a papercut, that's how bad it is. Had he been from another zone, he wouldn't have freaked out as much."

Lucina looks at Fu in sorrowful compassion. She does get a bit more composed when she hears that the Elsen was always a bit scaredy.

What sort of existence could led them to such... paranoia ? she asks, keeping Laurent closes as he recovers from the running.
