And Interstellar doesn't get Best Picture nominations. Why am I not surprised.

Also, as for the Best Animated Film, I guess it boils down to either Big Hero 6 or How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Personally, I would vote for How To Train Your Dragon 2. Then again, it already won Golden Globes, so I guess it wouldn't matter too much if it lost an Oscar?

Birdman's up for a lot, and it had a Mexican director so...there's that I guess. I'm more pissed off that Richard Linklater will win Best Director for Boyhood. Haven't seen the film, but it sounds like the most boring concept to spend twelve years (actually weeks, too) making. It's a neat experiment, but watching a kid grow up isn't exactly that interesting of a story and sounds pretentious as hell.

I'll have to see the film to really be fair to it, but the attention it's getting annoys me because if it weren't for the unique process behind it, who would actually care about watching a movie about growing up? Especially when you have To Kill A Mocking Bird and countless other coming-of-age films that make the same points.

Haha great. You would think that the academy would have loved the movie. Guess they're too busy praising other movies.

I'm not sure how I felt about the live rendition of Everything is Awesome.

Or Neil Patrick Harris' hosting style.

He's bringing some well-needed flair to the ceremony, if nothing else. The spectacle of NPH hosting anything has worn off though, considering he's hosted literally everything at this point. I certainly like the set design. And the LEGO performance just gave zero craps which I enjoyed.

Mom's watching it right now. Embarrassing.

Can't they announce best cartoon feature first?

So which movie do you guys want to win best picture?

I want Birdman, but I think Boyhood/Whiplash will win.

I'm not watching the ceremony. Has Grand Budapest Hotel won anything so far?

Grand Budapest has won Costume Design and Makeup so far, I think.

As for Best Picture, Selma will win because of the white guilt. Haven't seen it, so I'm not sure how deserving it actually is. I'm pulling for Birdman but that's unlikely. I'm hoping Keaton will get Best Actor, if nothing else.

Nice. And fair, since its colours were very vivid and kinda kitschy.

I gotta say, I'm a bit peeved at all the Take That! parts that this awards show is giving to superhero films.

EDIT: And Budapest wins best Original Score.

And Birdman wins best picture!

I honesty feel bad for Eastwood. Sniper won nothing.

EDIT: Sniper actually won best Sound Editing. Though that is not much to brag about.

Birdman won! Wow, that's a real surprise. Almost makes up for Michael Keaton's loss.

Sucks that Sniper didn't win. I really like Clint Eastwood.
