Hmm. Two Step Authorization requires Google Authenticator.
Is it trustworthy? I don't really want to download another app on my phone just for this, even if it's something important.
One Strip! One Strip!Apparently, Valueact are part of a trend of American investors trying to Americanize Japanese business: https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Cover-Story/Activist-funds-take-aim-at-Asia-Inc-s-complacent-boardrooms
As if what they said wasn't a big enough red flag.

I'm pretty sure it is.
I've used it for a few years and had no issues and never heard anything bad about it.
Lot of 2FA compatible services let you use it instead of their dedicated app. So I like being able to have them all on the one service.
To add on, you can use basically any 2FA app, doesn't need to be Google's.
Oh. That's good. Why doesn't Nintendo have one of their own though?
When I went to the site, they only offered Google.
One Strip! One Strip!I tried reading that article, but I don't know near enough about business or investments to really understand it.
That's... scaring me, and I'm North American.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*I need to get both my Wii U and my 3DS fixed. I live in Canada, but I'd still rather not take chances. I got games I still want to finish on both and not having the E-shop for whatever DLC is left would be a massive disadvantage.
One Strip! One Strip! It should be pointed out before this thread starts to think the sky is falling that Latin America and the Caribbean had limited eShops, meaning they would have to be separately maintained from the main one most of the world was using.
The Wii Shop Channel didn't stop functioning until last year, over 12 years after it launched. The 3DS has only been around for 9 years. We probably have lots of time.
Was there a reason that these things were separate from what everyone else was using? Seems kind of strange.
Issues with taxes and laws concerning licensing of digital properties, mostly. Most of these eShops were so bare-bones they didn't actually have games, just some DLC for big name games and channels to download like Netflix.
Markets like South America aren't really that lucrative compared to Japan, US, Canada, China, or UK
Usually these are where game prices can be so ludicrously high that it's a wonder they even have a market.
It's no surprise that they had limited eShops.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!EDIT: There will still be announcements over other social media.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Nintendo's servers got hacked and a bunch of legacy content (betas, design documents, etc.) for the N64, GameCube, and Wii got leaked. This includes the Wii's source code

Nintendo seems to be spending quite a lot in R&D for Q4. I would assume this is the time where they are beginning to solidify ideas for the Switch's successor and maybe new Switch hardware as well.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Someone did a translation and summary of Nintendo's Q&A from the earnings call. Here they all are:
He mentions there are other titles they plan to release this year in addition to those already announced. However, it may be difficult to finish development during the current situation, as employees are working from home. Their forecast assumes they will release as planned.
Nintendo says about 50% of all Animal Crossing: New Horizon purchases have been digital. They understand there has been contributing factors, and such a high ratio is not forecasted to continue. They predict that the increase in digital sales will continue on a wider scale.
After removing the increase in sales caused by the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo still would have reached its earnings forecast, as revised in January.
While they say the Nintendo Switch is entering the middle of its lifecycle, they may reanalyze the lifecycle of the Switch compared to previous consoles. A lot of focus will be on software released at beginning of the fiscal year. The Switch has a lot of momentum right now.
Nintendo is working under the premise that the impact of COVID-19 will last for a long time. Marketing, as an example, cannot continue as initially planned, and Nintendo is working around these issues. They are trying to be as flexible as possible.
It is difficult to know exactly what the future will hold. However, even as people around the world are required to stay home, there is still demand for the entertainment industry. It’s difficult to predict how the industry may change because of this.
The gaming industry in Japan has never faced a crisis like this before, and as employees are forced to work from home, Nintendo is investigating what can be done to increase productivity, make remote work more efficient, and understand what is and isn’t possible.
Nintendo is continuously producing Ring Fit Adventure, and believe they will gradually reintroduce new stock. The initial sales figures for Animal Crossing: New Horizons have been far higher than expected. The current sales figure was what was forecasted as the lifetime sales.
Initially, fans in their 20s and 30s purchased Animal Crossing, particularly women. As information spread between friends and family, especially through social media, sales rocketed. Nintendo Switch sales have also increased from the hype surrounding New Horizons.
There is no current plan to disclose the subscriber amount for Nintendo Switch Online. They believe subscriber total will continue to increase, especially as more games with online play are released.
Nintendo will continue to add more features and mechanics to Nintendo Switch Online to make software more enjoyable and convenient. Over 100 million Nintendo accounts have been created.
The impact from the Chinese market was not major for the last quarter, particularly as entry to the market is still quite recent. Nintendo intends to continue working with Tencent to increase brand awareness in the market.
Advertising costs are higher for the Nintendo Switch now than during launch. This is because Nintendo wants to acquire the casual market of those who don’t typically play video games. However, this strategy will evolve and change as more sales information becomes available.
Regarding mobile development, Nintendo will continue to focus on the six already released apps. They are, however, continuing to develop new apps as well, but have nothing to announce at this time.
Nintendo wants to expand the brand awareness of Nintendo through the mobile market and reach customers they otherwise wouldn’t. Pocket Camp saw an increase in users surrounding the release of New Horizons and there have been over 400 million downloads of Mario Kart Tour.
The current focus on the mobile market is to maximize Nintendo’s global market reach. Nintendo is not forecasting significant growth in mobile sales this year.

As for first-party games, expect Nintendo to repeat its Paper Mario: The Origami King strategy. Surprise trailer drops out of nowhere can still build a lot of excitement. The company also doesn’t have to worry about meeting expectations if you don’t know something is coming.
And what’s coming is Pikmin 3 Deluxe, 3D Mario remasters, and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe. It could have some surprises beyond that, but it may wait for those until it can start doing Directs again.
With how much attention the Paper Mario trailer got when Nintendo just dropped it out of the blue, I bet they're having discussions about whether Directs are even going to be a necessity after the Covid situation cools down.
The answer to that is yes, because Directs drive interest in games that don't have Nintendo's top franchises on them. Paper Mario in particular was always going to get a lot of buzz because it's controversial after Sticker Star and Color Splash. It Atlus released an Etrian Odyssey on the Switch it wouldn't get anywhere near as much attention without a Direct putting eyeballs on it.
At this point, I mostly care about Smash reveals which would spread like wildfire without a direct.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I'm pretty much only interested in Smash, and those will get dedicated livestreams.
Perfectly fine with twitter drops for other games.
That pretty much sums up my problem with E3 & the Direct.
I prefer Directs. And I think they're good for Nintendo overall.
Something like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 likely got a big push from appearing in Directs.
And personally, I don't watch all of the trailers that come out. Having them in a Direct means sometimes I'll get interested in a game I would have otherwise ignored.
I set up 2FA a few weeks ago when I first heard the rumors.
I figure better to be safe than sorry, and you hardly ever need to log in to the account anyway. So its not a huge inconvenience.
