Apparently, Deadly Premonition 2 is Switch exclusive.
So add another one to the "weird franchises that are only on Switch" tally.
The phrase I heard was Switch exclusive at launch, which suggests it's going to be a timed exclusive. Most likely it'll get a PC port down the line. The other two consoles look less likely. I don't think it's being directly bankrolled by Nintendo like Bayonetta was.
Boundary Break was contacted by a anonymous Next Level Games worker who informed him that in Punch out for the Wii, Piston Honda was reading Sailor Moon scans in between rounds during his rematch fight as a joke by the developers and that allegedly cost NLG and Nintendo millions of dollars and a few employees at NLG their jobs.
Happy 130th birthday Nintendo!
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Aww man, but I was planning to buy those Mario & Luigi remakes D:
Though I don't think that would have helped much...
What, I thought they were doing fine?
They likely hit the HD wall so many developers hit, and it cost them too much money.
Also, from what I've been hearing, they are great sprite makers, but lackluster 3D modellers and a lot of the 3D models for the 3DS M&L games were outsourced.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."The Bowser's Inside Story remake sold extremely poorly, too (among the worst selling Mario games, in fact), with Paper Jam and the Superstar Saga remake not doing too good either. Nobody was clamoring for a remake of Bowser's Inside Story (particularly since the original was good enough and already backwards compatible with the 3DS) and it came out right at the end of the 3DS' life, and they went in the wrong direction with Paper Jam, going for the stale New Super Mario Bros/post-Super Paper Mario Paper Mario style with generic environments and no OCs.

Also, I highly doubt the remakes are what killed them. Putting them into a precarious position where trying to go into HD was what likely happened. They were trying to hire as late as this past February.

Aw, man...
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."EDIT: I wanted to add at the top of this post that Nintendo's next earnings report comes out on Halloween.
A couple of interesting things popped up today:
First, Reggie gave a presentation at Cornell University. Here's a ResetERA's points on the presentation, but I'm going to bring out a few:
- Reggie bluntly said the Wii U was a failure, but called it a 'forward failure" since it lead to Nintendo's current success with the Switch.
- Reggie talked with NCL a lot and they called him Reggie-san.
- Reggie had a close relationship with Iwata.
- Iwata did not want Wii Sports bundled with the Wii in North America.
- Reggie also learned the value of silence in business from Iwata.
- Reggie does talk about his non-Nintendo work, with a specific focus on Panda Express, including how he was the one responsible for the kitchen design.
- Reggie himself has a strong focus on the importance of diversity, and even mentioned No A had diversity programs that supports women and LGBT people at the company.
- Reggie was asked about the current issue with Hong Kong, while he praises the consumer repose and basically says that Activision-Blizzard screwed up, he did not outright condemn China, saying they are a different market.
- Someone asked about Mother 3 and Reggie said he thought he finally escaped the question.
- Reggie mentioned that Retro seems to have control over their release dates, similar to The Pokemon Company.
In addition: TIME magazine did an interview with Furukawa. Here are some key points:
- Furukawa is committed to Nintendo doing experimentation, which has both helped and hurt the company in the past.
- Furukawa's plan is to be committed to entertainment over tech.
- Videogames will be the core of Nintendo's business for the foreseeable future, but they are seeking other, more intriguing ways to make money under Furukawa's watch.
- He mentions that Nintendo is less about acquisitions and more in-house creations.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."45 minute Smash Direct at 5 am PST on November 6th.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."...Well, I certainly won't be awake at that time.
Crossing my fingers that he drops some bombshell announcements after showing off Terry.
I'll be asleep by the time it airs, but I should be able to watch it before I go to work.
One Strip! One Strip! It's not quite a Direct, it's Sakurai demoing Terry Bogart, the way he did Banjo.
It's still going to be 45 minutes long, so there's obviously more than just Terry.
Wait, so who owns the Super Mario RPG characters? Nintendo? Square? Both?
Supposedly all the original characters and concepts in Super Mario RPG are owned by Square.
It looks a lot better than the SD 2 remake but it's still pretty clear they haven't allocated a lot of funds to this project. The English voice work and some of the cutscene animation look incredibly stiff and awkward.
