Troper/ pages are only editable by their owner (and by the mods) as a result of a spate of malicious vandalism and general trolling of Troper/ pages some years ago. There is the TroperWall/ namespace which is used by some for purposes of "benign vandalism" (TroperWall/(account name), which can be linked from your Troper/ page), but it's not official, and goodness knows if, or how long, it will survive as the site overhaul gets under way.
TroperWall/ did get readded to Administrivia.Namespace by Fighteer after I had removed it from being listed (I'm the one who started the namespace's usage, I regretted it and started advising against its usage, I've given up on that now).
Did I deliberately do that?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That's what it looks like from the page history
We must have discussed it then and decided it could stay for now.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I do still think it was a bad idea to start it but if you guys are fine with it then I'll just shut up on the matter.
I'm not fine with it and I want it gone, but I was outvoted.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh. Well, um, sorry about that...
Personally, I've always been in favor of bringing the "vandalism" back...genuine vandals and troublemakers are handled easily enough with hollers and bans. With the current system, aside from the Troper Wall namespace, you can do like I do and add PM-submitted comments to your page if you so choose.
One thing I have in store for the database overhaul is the ability of constructing Tropers/ pages out of two sections, a publicly editable one and a user-and-moderator limited one.

I\'ve only recently added contents to my own Troper page and was eager to see some vandalism on my page, only to find that...it won\'t happen, since Troper page can only be edited by the owner now.
Can we have a section specifically for people to leave comments on our page? I\'d love to hear some feedback from my visitors. Or is it this way for a reason?
