I didn't ask why, I asked how.

Possibly by being more hateful towards Katsuki, not showing any admiration towards him, and genuinely not wanting to deal with his childhood bully.

I swear every time I try to ask a question somewhere, all I get are non-answers

You are asking a complicated question, so you shouldn't be surprised that you may not get easy answers. For one, both Izuku's talk to Shoto about Endeavor and Izuku's talk to overhaul implies that on some level, he does resent Bakugo. But despite that, he chose to see the best in people, and always has seen Bakugo's more heroic side.

So, in a sense, it would be exactly the same series.

How differently do you think the story would've gone if Izuku had resented Katsuki for his treatment?

Spiteful Deku wouldn't feel the need to save Tomura, so I'd say the key difference would be a more violent ending.

EDIT: Wait, he wouldn't bring himself to save Bakugou from the sludge monster, so he wouldn't get All Might's attention. OFA would go to someone else (presumably Toogata by Nighteye's recommendation) and the hero Lemillion would have a short career but successful career before dying of old age in his 20s or 30s.

IIRC even when he jumps to save him and he brings up a bunch of reasons he might be doing it before saying his body just moved on his own, one of them is 'to spite him'. I think probably in the sense of 'Ha! The useless guys is saving your ass. That's gonna keep you up at night.'

Which, come to think it, yes, it absolutely did.

Wash did suggest he’d still save Katsuki out of spite

Also there’s a reason that I put in

Assuming that Izuku still saves Katsuki from the Sludge Villain.

Saying that Izuku wouldn’t save Katsuki and get One for All is too obvious of an answer.

Other than that, what fate would be the most fitting for All for One?

It's possible to resent somebody but still not want to see them get killed so I could still see Midoriya trying to save Bakugo and getting OFA as normal

Afterwards though, I could see him being much more hostile towards him and less tolerant towards his crap, maybe actually rubbing his success in Bakugo's face.

I think you can still do a resentful Izuku without compromising much of the story.

Just choose to angle it that he's trying not to give much thought to his negative reactions to Bakugou's action out of an attachment to the friend he used to be in his childhood (hence why he would still call him Kacchan and not Bakugou or Katsuki) and because of his own inferiority complex not making him realise that what Bakugou did was screwed up on a lot of levels.

That and you could also add a scene of All Might speaking how a true hero doesn't give in to hatred, thus tying his suppresion of his resentment with his journey to be a hero like his idol.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.

Why must "resentment" always be the expected answer?

Why is it not okay for Izuku to be the greater one here and simply move on from that past by not thinking about it?

People stuck in the past cannot live in the present and ends up without a future.

People who move on can live in the present and got a future ahead of them.

To defeat the bullies simply by "prove them wrong" rather than holding the grudges against them.

That is the best way to deal with bullies.

Prove them wrong.

It also helps that the story has proven Izuku 100% to be in the right and that Izuku has no reason to hold a grudge as he got everything he ever wanted out of the relationship.

Impressive. Hori draws a pic of Giant Deku spying Todoroki and Bakugou and the fandom spawns a ton of art.

IMO the whole point of that scene was to establish that Deku would jump in to save anyone, even someone he should by all means despise. We got more context of their relationship later, but in chapter 1 he's a completely unlikable asshole that does nothing but bully him.

So the idea there wasn't that Izuku doesn't have any grudge against Bakugo and that's why he saves him, it's that he'll save whoever needs saving no matter what they've done to him, and that's what makes him a great hero.

He even used very similar logic and wording when talking about saving Shigaraki, and we've just seen it applied to someone as terrible as Overhaul.

So basically, the series wouldn't change that much in regards to Izuku because hating someone doest stop him from helping them. Maybe it would change for Bakugo if Deku didn't feel the need to tell him about his power.

For clarity's sake, who's Haibori? I'm assuming it's a hero's real name, but I know it's not Endeavor or Hawks. Best Jeanist?

Edit, oh, Haibori's the forest. I thought you were having someone do an Ackbar-meme-esque line

I have to wonder if All For One gave every Deku-hunter he sent out a different location to lure him to, with personalized messages for each one.

I have to ask again what is this assumption that he didn't have any resentment towards Bakugo? We know that isn't true. His emotions were just more complicated than purely hating him.

And like [up][up][up][up] said, the point seems to be the character's natural reaction is to try to save anyone, so why do you think it changes things?

Yeah, he did the pointing and everything.

I still hope the Final Boss is Shigaraki because that just fits better thematically, but I'm glad we get to see All For One in all his glory as a villain, because we didn't really see that much of him before. He's this mix of grand Evil Overlord and petty asshole that's very fun to watch. You really get the feeling that this guy is a manchild role-playing a comicbook villain.

It's interesting that they're specifically calling Hawks Nagant's replacement, because while he could definitely get into shady things, it really doesn't seem like he was a trained assassin.

Did her killing the former HPSC President make them decide having a personal hitman was a bad idea?
