There was a guy who alleged in a book that Rainbow Brite out of all things was Satanic.
Why do I get the feeling that was Jack Chick? |D
Because he's synonimous with buzzkill?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWatching the second episode. Liking the continuity. Also love that Mice And Men reference. That killed me.
Only problem I'm seeing with this is the animation. It's a bit jerky. I'm wondering if the animators are new at this.

Now watched the first episode SUPER LEGAL LIKE, and I loved what I've seen so far. I sense a little bit of les yay around Stormy and Rainbow's past relationship, but that's just me.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI've finally caught up to Episode 2 - and count me in as someone who feels this isn't too shabby.
Oh, sure - It's not the next damn pony show, but thankfully enough I really don't care about that! And it doesn't stop me from liking what I am seeing.
While there could be some improvements along the way, like hopefully an increased budget or something (probably a dream improvement of mine...you know, so the action scenes can become even more fluid, as the recent episode has shown us it is capable of something big in that regard), it really does feel like they are trying to distance themselves from the trashy 80's show, which is a huge plus in my eyes.
There are still many more characters to develop and whatnot, but hopefully that'll come along, too. It also helps matters that this isn't taking place in a school setting. This show seems to know where most of the action/conflict needs to be and hopefully, stay.
If they can keep this up going forward, I'll proudly see this crazy train through to the end... I owe myself that much.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Exactly, the animation needs some tuning(probably a experienced animator to give some key notes to make it fluid) but the writing is great. I really hope for more stakes to be raised as each episode is raised.
The 80's show was not that bad.
So about the reboot... In the second episode things got dark pretty quick.
I wish the animation was better, but I like the story so far.
I didn't see it much when I was a kid, but I did go back to it a few years ago. It's pretty good for an 80s cartoon. Haven't seen the reboot yet, but if they're bringing back the Dark Princess and Brite's Les Yay with Stormy, then this sounds pretty great. I think a lot of people wanted to see more of them in the original continuity. And bringing back the darker aspects that made the original stand out is appreciated.
Watched #2 this morning, and it got into "The crystal empire" territory very quickly.
And there is so much Les Yay between Rainbow and Stormy, that the only thing their missing is a pair of matching pride T-shirts.
Wonder if Ep. 3 can top this.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceMe and my father were watching but he can't stop quoting that Robot Chicken sketch with the homoerotic unicorn. |D
He can't really stand the poofball that keeps showing up time to time.
One thing bugs me: Brian had the ring in his room up until he met Rainbow which suggests that this magic has been on Earth in the beginning. How did the ring of Hollow Light get to earth in the damn first place?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceSomething tells me that Brian's father is the hero that was mentioned. Might be foreshadowing.
Tons of Les Yay? Well that tears it, I'm off to watch the episodes officially.
Really liking how they wrapped up the three episode arc. I hope there's a new arc in the new episode. Curious with the direction of trapping the villain in the school, I wonder how she'll get out of that.
I'm surprised Brian turned into Megaman. Though I totally called it that he's related to the owner of the ring. Can't help but wonder if we'll see his father sometime. I'm guessing that leaving Rainbowland made him grow up, making Rainbowland similar to Neverland.
Also love the worldbuilding with what little time we have.
Oh you say there's an episode 3? In which Brian does more than lose a new trinket to the bad guy? I will have to see about that!
He gets a upgrade.
Yeah... I'm definitely keeping an eye on this show after these 3 episodes, flaws aside.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Really hoping for more stakes to be raised. This shouldn't be a slice of life series with all the danger that could be presented for our heroes.
slice of what life though?
Work schenanigans with the color kids for all I know. *shrug*
Just like MLP: They give you an amazing action story worthy of making you rethink everything you thought of the 80's series, then they give you Magical Girl Slice of Life madness for the whole rest of the season.
Also, why just his dad? Why not his mom or little sis or his dead dog? This could be a new generation Brian and his dad isn't even the past hero.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceThis needs to be made a series - this is my opinion after scoping all 3 episodes. Just do ALL of the following, if possible:
1) Make sure we're not in that school setting too much - especially with a nice setting like R.B.'s world having so much potential to be mined!
2) Focus on comedy, rather than growing a rogues gallery to beat up on easily - that way, the show has balance and longevity, like most shows I enjoy legitimately aim to (And the best ones have!).
3a) If we must have villains at all, given them more character development and keep the numbers small
3b) Give R.B.'s friends and allies more personality / character development as well - don't have them just be... there.
4) Same as 1 - don't let the human world element overtake the element of what the most attention go to. Kids want to be entertained by fantastical settings, not the mundane, after all. And they know when they see the latter, something's wrong!
5) Don't try to copy that darn pony show - find your own humor and make it sincere and tight in execution as possible.
6) Some better animation budgeting - just to ensure increasingly better fight scenes when they occur.
Tall order - but I actually want to see this series be successful. It doesn't have to be the next damn pony show - just continuously enjoyable in its own right!
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Yeah, exactly. Everything I hope for the show. One of the thing they need is a older director to give tips to the new animation crew. Help with the inbetweens so the animation flows normally.
I think the villainess will come back. As for the school setting, I think it will be in the background.
Huh, that's interesting.
Any other place besides Feeln that's streaming it?
