You'll find apples in other missions of course, but this one is:

  1. Reliable
  2. Very unlikely to require you to use the apples before you complete it.

I never go out of my way to redo an old level to replenish my supplies. There was one particularly difficult extra mission that completely drained my rods and apples and I chose to do an easier mission after but usually I just charge headfirst into danger. Story missions in particular have pleeeeeenty of opportunities to completely refill your stocks.

That said it is annoying that you can't just buy them. DLC in the first Hyrule Warriors led to a lot of QOL changes, like the ability to directly sell weapons, so hopefully we just have to wait on it.

Speaking of shops, if you're running low on rupees remember that each of the semi-randomly-appearing stable merchants will buy one type of material for a lot of rupees. In particular the Rito tech vendor will buy monster parts and the Gerudo fruit stand will buy gemstones.

I had no idea about that, I never sold anything but excess weapons (and the quests plus some weapon fusions after finishing chapter 6 just dropped my finances from 18000 to 400).

Can you not sell Star Fragments or Fairies, by the way?

When I open the sell menu, they're missing and instead there's just a blank square in their respective categories.

As far as I can tell there's a hard limited number of Star Fragments in the game, so logical if true.

Yeah, so far I've seen them as challenge rewards, but never as battlefield-specific materials or otherwise unlimited.

Heh, I like how Terrako's training mission has it beating up Zelda's dad. Also kind of feel sorry for those poor soldiers ordered to get beat up by the Princess's pet.

It's kinda funny (read: hilariously tragic) when you realize King Rhoam may very well have doomed the original timeline by essentially not letting his daughter play with a toy, since Terrako seems to directly resonate with Zelda's abilities.

I really liked the material mission line with Link and the swordmaster.

[up][up]At least it saved this new timeline... or would this timeline not be created if Terrako didn't travel to the past?

Yeah, Terrako woke up in the main BOTW timeline when Zelda used her powers to save Link and Fort Hateno. Tragically, this leads directly to the new timeline's Terrako becoming Harbinger Ganon.

And honestly, this game kinda put it into my head that Rhoam was... completely right? If they'd left all the Sheikah tech buried, then the guardians and the Beasts wouldn't have been primed to overrun the country. Now, Zelda's mental state probably still isn't good but Hyrule isn't destroyed when Ganon wakes up.

That makes me want to see a timeline where they do just that - I don't expect things would turn out very well there, either.

Rhoam was the one who ordered the Sheikah technology to be dug up, though? He just didn't want Zelda working on it instead of her powers.

Yeah, Rhoam was all for the continued expansion of the Shiekah tech as a defense mechanism in the original BOTW. Problem is, his daughter had holy power she wasn't using, and it was necessary to beat Ganon, no ifs, ands, or buts. From Zelda's perspective, he's being a harsh father, but from the perspective of a king who knows Ganon is coming and needs to be prepared to face him, Rhoam honestly is doing what he believes is best to ensure the survival of his kingdom.

Problem is, I think his harsher attitude about it was ironically what caused Zelda to feel more guilty about it and mentally block herself off until the last desperate moment she needed to use it.

It's the ancient King of Hyrule from 10,000 years ago that banned the Sheikah Technology, and it had terrible consequences, namely that it was because of that ban that led to the formation of the Yiga Clan plus Hyrule being trapped in a Medieval Stasis. And I don't think burying it underground would have saved Hyrule since Ganon could theoretically just have them burst underground like with those giant pillars surrounding Hyrule Castle.

Ganon was the one who raised the pillars, while Zelda in her diary said her team couldn't find them at all, so he would still have access to a vast Guardian army if the heroes hadn't uncovered a single relic.

Right. So in terms of the Guardians, they were pretty much screwed no matter wha.

Rhoam's actions only ensure that the one thing that could stop the guardians (Zelda's powers) didn't appear until it was too late. He couldn't have known that, but still.

I think the thing Ganon really seemed to want was the Divine Beasts which where only unearthed because of the Kingdom's efforts.

Thinking about the Expy examples on the character page, does Astor really count as a Validar Expy, given there's already Agahnim, Yuga and even the Magician in some manga adaptations of Adventure Of Link.

Even in Fire Emblem, Validar is hardly the first dark priest who wants to revive an ancient evil and is willing to sacrifice his allies, with Gharnef being the very first.

Terrok being an expy of BB 8 is questionable too, though Star Wars is very popular in Japan, so its not impossible.

I'm not going to make a judgment on whether that's a valid example; I generally avoid that trope entirely myself. But Astor specifically is obsessed with fate and believes that a dark future is already written, courtesy of a time-traveling agent of the apocalypse that came back from said future to ensure that it does come to pass, in pursuit of a time-traveling agent of good trying to avert it.

He has a lot more in common with Validar than just "dark priest archetype".
