[up] The writer doesn't want it reuploaded anywhere and considers it Old Shame. Someone reuploaded it without their permission and I'm guessing they filed a claim to get it removed. It's a shame that the writer dislikes it so much. It's the best equalist!Asami story I've found.

I know AO3 has the "orphaned" function for that purpose, but ff doesn't. Sad that they can't be convinced to let it stay up in some form, though.

If that's their Old Shame, I've got to check out what they're writing now.

Fractures is a recently-started fanfic on Archive of Our Own by good_eviening.

It's absolutely spectacular.

It's a Zuko-centric AU fic that makes him even more of an Iron Woobie, has some excellent worldbuilding and Character Development, and completely supports the canon pairings of the original show.

What more could you want?

[up]After reading I will second this. The premise is absolutely unique and their is many different changes from canon. On the other hand this depiction of Zuko isn't for the faint on heart. Poor kid got tortured by his father for 3 years to the point that he has PTSD and seems to have some health issues. Even stuff such as seeing his father in a painting or people looking at him a certain way is triggering flashbacks for him which is really heartbreaking to read. On top of that it seems like Iroh in this AU is far more cold in general likely because he lost his son and he was told that his nephew was in training under Ozai. My only complaint so far is Lu Ten and Kya both surviving their own close to death experiences seems a bit contrived but I have never seen that done before so I will let that slide.

Overall it's a really interesting fanfic. I will certainly look forward to reading more.
