Asuka's my main, so I'm kind of annoyed she doesn't have any story relevance at the moment.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySame here. She had some relevance in 5, but even then it wasn't that much, since she wasn't actually part of the main story. It was just a "she's Jin's cousin!" thing and that was it. Hell, nothing in her background even involves the Kazama clan.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Yea, you figure she was gonna be the next protagonist or something, but nope.
Her existence also raises the question of why Jun didn't tell Jin to seek out Asuka's family instead of sending him to Heihachi.
To answer FOFD's question:
I'd put Ling, Jun and Kazumi at the top for lore. In terms of feats, I'd place Nina and Anna at the top.

Y'know, I kinda had the thought that Lili and Asuka could have stood as a third faction in opposition to G Corp and the Mishima Zaibatsu, since Lili's family has the money, and Asuka's family are connected to the Mishima and Asuka was suggested to have something that counteracts the Devil Gene in 5. Say if Lili's father got killed during the fighting, and she was forced to take over the business?
Of course, that would've required them to give them a more serious storyline, and evolve their sitcom arch-nemesis relationship.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillI can't say I can agree with that. I don't like how serious the rivalry has gotten between the Williams Sisters so I can't say I would feel the same way with Asuka & Lili. There's also the fact that I don't think they can pull off a serious story after Tekken 6. But I'm also the guy who thought they did well enough in Tekken 4, but not completely.
Unless I've forgotten something between Tekken 1-5, I recall that Heihachi has a good rep. Although, I recall that the Mishima Zaibatsu had a pretty infamous reputation & in-universe some people were hoping Kazuya would improve the company. That didn't turn out well.
In any case, I can easily believe that Jun was also tricked by Heihachi's reputation & in a Fanon way, saw that Heihachi was trying to amend his way back in T2. On top of that, she may or may not know that Orge was a threat at the time & Heihachi's wealth & status would've been better security than the Kazama's exorcism gimmick. Also, she probably doesn't even know there are more people & relatives like her as well. But let's face it, I doubt anyone on the Tekken team actually considers anything of that.

I wasn't saying to make the rivalry more serious between Asuka and Lili, just the opposite in fact. I was saying that they could have teamed-up when they realised that they had common enemies.

"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillWhy am I mis-reading so many posts lately?
Anyways, I like that idea, but I don't think you need to actually kill Lili's dad. Not that it would actually matter in the end.
The biggest mystery from Tekken is the exactly how Jin was conceived, cause given how the story in 2 goes, i struggle to think how and why Jun and Kazuya got together before the latter suffers a tragic case of Heihachi.
Of course the only explanation we have is that we need a successor for a character that was dead, duh!

Uni catA video on the history of the Wavedash. I didn't even know it originated in Tekken before finding infamy in Smash Bros.
Could we get this thread to be renamed about Tekken generally, not just Tekken 7?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyCalling it a "novelty" is pretty misleading, though. Sure, not all characters can do it—in fact, only a very small subset of characters can actually utilize the move in modern play—but for those that do, it's pretty much an essential part of their moveset for anyone who wants to perform in competitive levels of play.

We actually do have a general Tekken thread.
Oh. I didn't know. That thread hasn't seen a post since 2020.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyRight now and for the next 12 hours, someone could get the complete Tekken 7 on Steam for $17.60 USD.
(this has actually been the case all throughout EVO)
Additonally, on the 17th, a new patch will drop with balances, move adjustments, and a new wall bounce mechanic. And Tekken 8 was teased at EVO.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyWell I bought it recently but I don't have the cosmetics from the season pass. At least the PS 4 version doesn't
Harada and BamCo coming out of nowhere with the official trailer for Tekken 8! The entire trailer was created via real-time in-game renders, not a pre-rendered cutscene. And hot damn, the game looks absolutely gorgeous from what we see.
Wait, the entire trailer?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAny guess when the game will release?
P.S. Sorry for my bad English, English isn't my native language.

Not announced yet.
Does that mean I don't get the job?I'm trying to plan a trip to South America for later in the year. Hopefully I can get to go to the Uyuni Salt Flats, and if I do, I'll be jamming out to Infinite Azure and Moonsiders.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm not doing that trip this year.
Big Bamco sale on Steam this weekend. Most games that didn't release this year are 85% off, including Naruto, One Piece, Digimon, Tekken, and Soul Calibur games. Digimon Survive, which did release this year, is 30% off. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure ASBR isn't on sale, but this could be a sign of the sale price next year.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
Honestly, it really doesn't matter.
Jun was pretty interesting & I was hoping they would do something her Unknown aspect, but naturally, they didn't.
I think it's fine what's going on with Alisa right now, but I really want to see her interact with Yoshimitsu.
I was enjoying William's sister's rivalry until it got way more serious than it should be. I was hoping to see Nina interact with Jin more but it looks like her overdramatic rivalry is going to be prioritized.
Xiaoyu looks like she is supposed to do something after having her own movie, but again, nothing is happening.
Asuka is the most disappointing of them all. As amusing her rivalry with Lili, I can't believe she's not involved in the story whatsoever. I almost want the manga to be canon.
