What do you guys think of hardvapour? I personally think it's pretty great but for some reason there is a lot of hostility towards it. Why is that?
Basically a whole lot of drama. Hardvapour was borne (partially, if not primarily) out of the dissatisfaction of the direction vaporwave is going in (which kinda baffles me when there are albums like death dynamic shroud.wmv's CLASSROOM SEXXTAPE still coming out) and thus it kind of prides itself on being "superior" to vaporwave, one part because the music has a "message" to it rather than just being ironic (yeah 5 years in and people still think vaporwave is all meant to be ironic), and another because the music isn't sample-based like vaporwave is. Furthermore, the two "main" forces in hardvapour were former vaporwave artists, and there was a huge falling out with them and other vaporwave artists; one of them removed a bunch of albums from their label because they had a fight, the other was continuously harassing people on twitter and making transphobic, ableist, or otherwise insulting tweets about those in the vaporwave scene before later deleting them (one standout moment when was they sent someone a dick pic). Finally, there's the sentiment that hardvapour doesn't really sound that different from regular electronic music.
Yeah, it's a huge mess.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you.""the other was continuously harassing people on twitter and making transphobic, ableist, or otherwise insulting tweets about those in the vaporwave scene"
Who was that? I get the impression that it was wosX.

That's the guy. I was trying to avoid names.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."As if I needed more of a reason to hate that guy. What an asshole.
...anyway, I think we should move on as I'm really worried we're breaking the "importing drama" rule here.
...any release you're looking forward to?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I don't really know who's coming out with what. I guess I'm looking forward to Hardvapour 2.
A new album from ショッピングワールドjp would be nice.
How about the next best thing? This album is from the woman behind shopping world jp.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Oh, cool. Thanks for sharing.
All right, who gave the vaporwave page a YMMV page?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Anyone else ever order from Illuminated Paths before? A package I ordered from then just came and I must say, rather disappointed. Package was full of junk and the cassettes are obviously recycled. Kinda afraid to actually play them...

Ok I played one of them and the quality isn't that bad. Although it is a really lo-fi album to begin with so it works either way.
Yeah, I've heard horror stories about IP and their low-quality cassettes.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."For the most part I'm confused about the extra stuff in the package.
- Florida lottery ticket
- A bunch of Pogs
- Trading cards
- Audiobook cassette (???)
- Tiny Pepsi sticker
I think they just put that stuff in there so they can say "Look our cassettes come with a bunch of extras!!!"
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Yeah, love opening packages and having a bunch of trash fall out. I'm curious about the audiobook tho, gonna play it later
Maybe you can sample it
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."None of them sound bad persay but I'm gonna be wary of ordering from them again.
Also received a package from Dream Catalogue today, and to apologize for the (basically nonexistent) delay they gave me two free digital albums. Noice.
Nice. What'd you order?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."New Humans by DARKPYRAMID & SURREAL by CVLTVRE
Now just waiting on these two.
annoyed at myself for not adding a PLUS100 sticker pack onto that order now that it doesn't seem they're there anymore :V

So, could somebody explain to me what hard vapour actually *is* without the drama and maybe a recommendation or two? From what little I can tell it's basically "hard vapour:vaporwave::hard house:house" with the distortion and vague ominousness and so forth.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. The best explanation I can give is IDM-lite with more distortion.

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Hardvapour is a good place to start. I'd just explore the rest of ANTIFUR from there.

At least you're not dismissing it as just some meme like a lot of other people are.
