I think Gerald is going to have an interesting dynamic/conflict with Alisha, all things considering. Similar powers, opposite moralities, teacher and homicidal blob-creature, all sorts of things. PTA meetings are going awkward, but everyone hates those.

Having to deal with her, Jack and Alban at the same time is probably going to make the guy Cronenberg himself. Except this time, the teleporter is demonic, and his 'tenure' means he can't crawl off to the Cronenberg dimension.

Interaction is a big part of roleplay, and what's the fun if it isn't interesting?

I'll reiterate my question from before; what's the verdict on my making a map of the academy building/grounds?

Having a map of everything would be useful, so I would like that. By the way, what do you think of characters with power over Nothingness? I'm considering a teacher character with that element. Oh, and Samson is basically a nutcase who's mostly just pretending to be nuts since he doesn't like dealing with feelings and finds it pretty fun. Though he is legitimately eccentric, for whatever definition of that word I have. I'm mostly just saying that here because I would rather show his personality through R Ping and not write up a definition I would feel inclined to follow.

[up][up]Absutively

  • Name: Larry Curtis
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 16
  • Powers: SOOO Oper Genius. He's basically a Mad Scientist.
  • Position: Student although the administration will occasionally use him to make things they need.
  • Appearance: Short and scrawny with a large nose and buck teet. dark beady eyes and a shock of spiky black hair.
  • Personality: Jittery and always wanting to try something new without paying any attention to the cost. His catch phrase is "It made sense at the time" or "It just felt right". Has a severe case of Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!
  • Bio: Larry was speaking in complete sentences by the time he was six months old and reading, writing and doing simple arithmetic by the age of two. He came to the attention of authorities when he built a portable nuclear reactor. Since he refused to divulge how he had gotten the materials (and honestly the details were a little fuzzy even to him) he was sent to Antebels forthwith.

[up][up] Dude you know that I don't know anything about Kingdom Hearts, so if that's another power from there, you're gonna have to explain it. If it's not from there, well, explain it anyways.

[up] Being able to manipulate any known laws (physics, space/time, etc), directly or not, is not acceptable. You also can't say what the Academy officials do with the characters outside of how they got there, and they wouldn't need students to make things for them. If you could just change upon those aspects, he'll be good.

Oh yeah, here's the map I promised. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. Questions on what's going on in that black-and-white abomination are allowed, although more detail will be gone into once this actually starts.

On that subject, we currently have around 13 accepted characters. Should we wait for a couple more before I make the actual threads, or would people rather we get started tonight/tomorrow?

Honestly I'm not too sure how to respond to you asking what Nothingness is, due to it being the opposite of existence and all that. Though I'll hold off on making another character for a while. I do feel like having that character use powered armor based off a Mecha concept I had however...

Besides that, where will you be listing the accepted characters so people won't have to dig through the Sign-Ups to find a particular one? By the way, how big are the various student rooms (like changing and bath)? In addition, mostly random, but what kind of rules do they have regarding interaction (regardless & specifically of biological and mental gender)?

Oh, and in general how does the Academy actually prevent anarchy from happening? The students have no obligations to the Academy to be here , so its not like they have any legal power over them. Though they wouldn't exactly be a very good academy if they just kicked out everyone that gave them trouble... Plus even within the same universe there's differing cultures and morals, so they would need to set basic rules for everyone to follow.

Like, I get what Nothingess IS, but I just can't understand how one would harness it if it was...nothing. And the implications of what such powers that would entail.

I'll list the characters under the main post in a moment. Continuing on, the Showers are obviously bigger than the changing rooms, being about a quarter size of the gymnasium. Changing rooms only contain lockers and benches, so, they're about the size of your average school locker-room. Curfew is an hour after it gets dark, in which case the genders will need to go into their separate areas. There shouldn't be mixing of said genders (as in one or more being in the opposing dorms) at any given time, however.

I'm assuming you mean how would they deal with a situation in which a student is causing direct harm to others or the Academy itself? I'm hoping to go into that in the RP itself, once it starts. Let's just say the Headmistresses has a plan for most things. Also a lot of the students were either signed-up willing to go there or were signed-up out of necessity, so there is a sort of legal hold over them. There's also the fact that said Academy dwells within it's own dimension and leaving is near impossible on your own.

What about shape-shifters and are people grouped by their mental gender, their physical gender or both? So an obviously non-sexual creature like robots or the slime would be assigned by their mental gender, while those completely lacking mental genders or having the opposite gender of their body would be placed where they biologically belong. Hmm...

May I make a character who basically has a Humonculus as his loyal servant? Could you give us estimates on the sizes of each area. By the way, who gave the Academy the right to just accept people sent there against their will anyways? While I could see those forced there to obey legal rules, those coming of their own wills wouldn't just sign away their freedom.

Regarding those forced there, do they have standards (like only people who desperately need help/etc)? Speaking of, how does time work here both in-universe and compared to others?

Guess Who?
#44: Jun 18th 2014 at 11:15:25 AM

  • Name: Drew Winterstaff
  • Age: Human wise, 14, Fae wise, 91. This is simply because in his dimension, the planet he resided on had shorter years. Thus, if he were on Earth, he would be 14, which his body and mental ability reflects.
  • Species: Dark Fae
  • Powers: Control over metal. This allows him to telekinectally control all metals, acting as a sort of living magnet. Furthermore he has certain properties of metal and is extremely fire-resistant and durable, plus his blood is silver. These are the only metallic traits he has gained so far.

More mundanely, Drew is extremely proficient both in urban areas and the wild, seeming to know a lot about survival and seeming incapable of getting lost, even in extremely confusing areas, be it natural or urban.

  • Position: Student
  • Appearance: Drew, like most of his kind, has glowing, ethereal like skin and dark gray, semi-transparent wings. His eyes are a deep obsidian-black, as is his shoulder length hair. Due to his heavy focus on combat, he has a lean and muscular build.
  • Personality: Deew is your typical mysterious and brooding fae. He rarely smiles and is a man of short words. His background is largely mysterious to the students and most of the staff, and he has gone through great pains to ensure that his student file is empty. He detests nature, preferring urban areas much more, which is ironic, considering his extensive knowledge of the wild.. He does not take kindly to insults, jibes or challenges and is also often quick to anger.
  • Backstory: Many Earth years ago, on Drew's home dimension and planet, Dark and Green fae lived in harmony together. There was still a bitter rivalry, but they lived peacefully nonetheless. This balance was completely tipped over when a new, highly racist and military oriented government came into leadership of the Green fae. These new leaders were also scarily powerful, capable of things thought simply a myth. Soon, a multitude of natural disasters tore the Dark fae's lands apart, brought on by the attacking Green fae, which heralded the arrival of the Green fae's armies. The ensuing war was short and bloody, the Dark fae caught totally unawares and brutally massacred. But some still remained. Among both the Dark and Green fae existed those without any power and occasionally without any of the feautures that defined Dark elves. They were of the lowest status and often beggars or slaves. These were the only ones permitted to survive, thought to be clean of the Dark fae taint by the new government.

Such Dark fae were the ancestors of Drew. As the urban lands of the Dark fae were changed into forests and jungles and their natural state brought back, the Dark fae rejects for the most parts kept to themselves. Though they had been spared death, that did not mean that they were of any status, in fact, often regarded as lower than the Green fae rejects. As such, the Dark fae rejects mostly bred amongst themselves, the occasional fae managing to get lucky and marry a Green fae. After several generations, Drew was born.

As a child, Drew was like any Dark fae reject, and thought nothing special. Then, gradually, he began to take on the traits of a Dark Fae, and his powers began to develop. It was barely noticeable at first, but soon enough, it became apparent what Drew was. A true Dark fae. The other rejects fearing a genocide from the Green fae if the truth came out, they, with a little help from the tales and books left over from their Dark fae ancestors, who had been able to cross dimensions, the rejects attempted to send Drew to a dimension where Dark fae were accepted.

The ritual was botched, due to intervention from some Green fae who had been tipped off, and killied most of Drew's sect of rejects including his family, and instead of sending him to the intended destination, sent him to Antebel's, where the Headmistress took him in and gave him a scholarship place, intended from those who came from dystopian dimensions. Now, Drew works hard in the hope of being able to lead his people into rebellion against their Green fae oppressors.

Mkay, decided to import the character.

  • Name: Susan Cameron (Suzy, as she's typically called)

  • Age: 12

  • Species: Human, barring the mutations.

  • Powers:

    • Limited flight: While she's a bit too heavy for her wings to fully carry her, them being made for smaller creatures, they can still carry her a good distance, about 60 feet, or 19 meters.

    • Glow: Her constantly glowing body can provide a good means of light. However, this also destroys any chance of stealth.

    • LASERS: She can create beams of light, and not just from her own natural glow: Any light source is a potential danger, including lightbulbs, flashlights, lanterns, TV's, ecetera. Note that while the sun IS a very potent source, the fact that light takes 8 minutes to travel from the sun to Earth makes said source, for lack of better words, awesome, but VERY impractical, unless the fight drags on.

    • Manipulation of light: A potent skill with her creative mind, this allows her to created holographic projections, snuff out light (excluding her own), make various objects invisible (including herself, but the light will still give her away), and causing other light sources to grow brighter as well. She can also change the direction of light, but that's more of a novelty thing.

    • Enhanced Sense: Well, her antennae can let her feel vibrations at the very least, so this is more downplayed.

    • Hardlight Projections: Another potent ability, this allows her to create objects made of hardlight, including small bridges, walls, and even weapons, which due to the nature of light, are incredibly powerful. However, the "weapons" bit is limited by the sheer amount of concentration it's needed for even a single swing, so it's something that can be improved on, but remains impractical for now.

  • Appearance: About 4'8, bit short for her age. Weighs 88 pounds, which translates to 39 Kilo. She has not-too-long brown hair, and green eyes. She typically wears a loose fitting shirt, tailored to let her wings sprout out, with blue jeans of any flavor. Notable features are the insectoid wings sprouting out of her back, and two antennae sprouting from her head.

  • Personality: -proceeds to drop al the tropes- A sweet, yet shy young girl, Suzy finds it hard to speak with other people, for fear of her getting bullied for her differences. She's also has a bad habit of prioritizing other people over herself, which, although typically a good thing, can sometimes endanger both her and the person she's trying to help. She's also quite the creative child, and adores arts and crafts.

  • Bio: An otherwise normal, if a little sheltered adopted girl, living on Earth... in the future. In the 2030's, so phones are like high-grade computers in your pocket, and high grade computers are, well, high grade. Oh and also electric cars are the norm. Suzy attended school like other girls her age. She played with toys, like girls her age, and of course, she grew, like girls her age. Really, her being adopted was only a small shock for her, which she soon got over. But unlike Girls Her Age, once Suzy hit the age of seven, during a shopping trip, Suzy began to glow. Her parents were naturally shocked (probably less so then all the other customers and staff there), but nonetheless tried to support their child.

However, at school, Suzy became the center of bullying from her other peers, considering her an outcast. The later development of her insectoid features did not help in this matter. This ended up causing her to withdraw from other people, and avoid speaking with people, barring her parents, altogether. What's worse is that she and her parents would never find out the true origins of her powers, considering that the magnitude of the powers are scientifically impossible.

Eventually, her parents decided to ship her off to the Academy, where she could befriend others like her, and learn to use her powers more efficiently. Won't be too easy for her, however, considering her issues...

Also of note is the fact that she does have a biological sister, who ALSO has a power (to see the past and future). However, whether I decide to import her as well is for me to decide later. probably not tbh. They used to keep in touch, but once Suzy hit her later years, she began to cut contact from even her.

  • Equipment: Backpack with books, pencils and other various school supplies, as well as paints, markers, and a small rubber ball to keep herself occupied during boring times.

If this isn't acceptable, tell me what I can do to improve it, please!

OH! And another thing that I'll keep spoiled for the GM: She has a serious phobia of fire.

I noticed there are people with... 'troubles' that could use some counseling.

So here's a talking scarecrow.

  • Name: Mr. Grimm
  • Age: 107
  • Species: (Sentient) Scarecrow
  • Powers:
    • Scary Scarecrow: As a scarecrow, Mr. Grimm's wounds don't heal normally, but he can be sewn back together from most any injury short of his head being blown to bits.
    • Dark Magic: Mr. Grimm manipulates darkness, allowing him to melt into shadows; the darker it is, the harder it is to see him. He can shoot energy blasts in the shape of crows, which he can guide to their target from a distance, or in the shape of pumpkins, which move faster and explode but can't be guided. He can also summon up dark chains that can weaken living things that they ensnare (drains magic, making it less powerful, and reduces physical strength), or be used as melee weapons. Finally, he can levitate a few feet off the ground.
  • Position: Teacher. In charge of some magic-related classes, namely protection from, and the safe use of dark magic.
  • Appearance: "Spoooooooky, ain't I?"
  • Personality: A very happy person. Like, psychotically happy. Mr.Grimm is overeager about everything, easily excited, and has boundless energy. This, naturally, annoys people. Mr. Grimm doesn't care, and happily goes along doing what he's doing. He enjoys a good prank, as long as no one gets hurt, and likes scaring people. He'd also probably like being scared himself, but as of yet no one has ever scared him: darkness, monsters, bugs, heights, closed spaces, other peoples fears are his interests, and he faces them all with a smile. Because his head is a pumpkin.
  • Backstory: Some scarecrows scare more than just crows. Built in a rather dreary 17th century town by a farmer, the scarecrow smiled at nothing for a few years until one dark night, a group of girls had a campfire in secret and began playing with tarot cards. Their innocent fortunetelling upset the puritancial village, who went on a witch hunt. In the tangle of lies, accusations, and fear, the town judge sentenced a kind old woman to death. With the noose around her neck, she cursed the villagers, saying "May your worst fears be made real, that ye look less foolish." The people were remorseful. By the next day, the scarecrow went missing. Mr. Grimm had woken up. For years he terrified the people of the village, showing up and disappearing, never doing them harm but never letting them rest peacefully. Until they came afterhim with torches, and he fled. For a hundred years he practiced his dark magic, scaring people around the world and fending off those who would kill him. Eventually, he grew tired of humans coming to hunt him and leaped at the offer to teach, deciding to help others who scared people,
  • Equipment: Stores some needles and thread in his chest cavity.
