I was about to get offended but I realized you didnt mean Spaniard in a bad way. (Sadly here in Latin America we do use it to mean a bad thing). I do take issue with the announcer part . Did you mean fake and artificial or do Spaniard Announcers talk in a notable way? Then again, I mentally associated Spaniard with a bad thing so Im hardly the one who should judge.

I did take issue with the Mexican accent thing...until I sat down to watch Maria La Del Barrio, I now agree massively. Mexican slang, at least in Mexican Media is WAY TOO AWFUL.

I do add that if you do think that way about Mexican Dubs, you really didnt miss much in just watching the Spaniard dub, because the Mexican Dub is the exact same Spaniard Announcer accent, with no real flavor being lost. I dont mean that in a mean or bad way. I really hate the bad blood that exists between the territories.

No, I saw the trailer for the Mexican and Spaniard dubs, and, as far as I'm concerned, they're starkly different.

I saw Maria del Barrio in Arabic, as a child. [lol]

Arabic? I was always fascinated by that language! DO TELL!

I also ask if it was censored, because I know Middle Eastern countries frown on all the sex, kissing and adultery in Maria La Del Barrio and despite knowing that Arabic isnt limited to those countries, I doubt someone would commission a dub for a small audience.

Anyway all that is off topic.

Im going to check out the trailers.

No, the adultery is bad and it makes the characters feel bad, so it's fine.

"But Francisco Fernaaaaando, how could you leave me for Rosalliiinda?" "Forgive me, Maria Luisa, my love, but my mother would never have accepted you by my side. Now that I am married, I am free to be with you as much as I please. Will you love me still, Mariiiiia Luiiiiisa? If you left me, I fear my seething Latin heart would consume me, and itself, until I am nothing but a charcoal husk of cold dust and crumbling cinders. To be without you, mi vida, is to be without life!"

I see! I did figure thats why Rose Of Versailles could get away with it. All the bad adulterers died and went to HELL! BWA HA HAHAHAHAHA!

I do see that they allow it as long as the people doing it are shown as being in the wrong and suffering for it. I like the way they think.

I dont really think the Middle East is wrong for censoring their version. The show is meant to entertain and it cant do it if it offends people. As long as the original exists, it isnt really much of a big deal.

So a lot of people have been asking Jorge about a possible Book of Life 2, even after the Disney/Fox deal has happened.

He has no plans for a sequel.

He loves the characters and the first movie, but it sounds like he's happy he got to make that first movie at all. smile

Bump.

As discovered by Jorge R. Gutierrez himself, The Book of Life is now streaming on Disney+ in the US!

And it's right under one of its inspirations, The Princess Bride.

I have the DVD but it's nice that this is on Disney+ as well.

I wonder if the sequel is still going to be a thing. Looking it up they apparently announced they were working on one in 2017 but we haven't heard much about it since then.
