Merely polished graphics would be a bit disappointing.
Putting 3's combat system into 1 and 2, THAT would be awesome!
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianAgreed but I doubt EA would be willing to shell out for something like that.
If the entire trilogy is developed as a single unit, I'd expect 3's gameplay, and a quite retouched leveling system across the trilogy.
I also hope they don't bring Andromeda's weapon of choice per squadmate.
The jetpack from Andromeda would be cool though.

Andromeda didn't have a half-bad combat system given the open world nature, it's basically the ME-1 approach done right. I kind of liked it better than ME-3's highly linear levels, even if the overall power set and combat was more refined.
I saw that article while talking with a friend and we both agreed that ME 1 would basically need to be rebuilt from the ground up. There's no way for it to really be remastered on the same engine. And the gameplay has... aged the worst of anything in the series.
I wonder if they would de-censor the same sex relationships in the first game though.

Maybe more dialogue options but they won't uncensor anything
New theme music also a boxA remaster wouldn't do anything that would require new lines to be recorded. The most you'd be able to get is lines that were originally Dummied Out inserted back in.
I'm of the opinion that remasters shouldn't dramatically change the game anyway. It's a fresh coat of paint, not a complete alteration of what the game was in the first place. If that's what you want, then you're looking for a remake, not a remaster.
There is no way these remasters are going to be anything more than updated graphics + maybe some quality of life improvements. You really shouldn't expect anything more than that, you're just going to be disappointed.
While unlikely, I wouldn't be surprised if bigger changes were made.
DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION had big changes made to its boss fights.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Human Revolution's director's cut isn't the same thing as a remaster at all though.
The ss relationships with Kaidan and Ashley were all fully coded and recorded, just hidden behind a line of code or two. So they really wouldn't need to change anything.
And, while I agree about the new coat of paint... I worry that just a texture update or whatever would end up being... well, I can find that on the Nexus Mods really easily. In fact, it's how I replayed the series last time. "Just a texture pack" isn't really what a remaster should be. Especially considering how wonky and dated ME 1 is.
I don't know what world you're living in where that's not what remasters are already.
Like, this is something that's been settled a long time ago.
Eh, a full Trilogy set for next gen would be nice. I have to crank out my XBOX 360 to play the trilogy right now. If I was going to buy the whole set I'd either need to go for it on Origin or just shell out for an XBOX. Mass Effect 1 doesn't work on PS 4 (The Trilogy version for PS 3 I believe)
ME 1 isn't on Playstation I don't think. So a new lick of paint and maybe some tidying of the animations would be great.
Bug clearing, maybe add in some dummied out quests. What I would wonder is if they would fundamentally change stuff (A la Lucas and his never ending remasters) - like will one of the counsellors be replaced by a plushy. Or maybe they want to have the Catalyst child appear in ALL THE GAMES to improve foreshadowing?
OH! Maybe we'll get a Hayden Christian cameo-like inserted somewhere.
Sorry, sorry. But I would like something updated. I do miss taking the michael out of the geth on the larger maps by cheesing them with an explosive sniper rifle from about a KM away. Or on-footing Collossi to get MAXIMUM EXPERIENCE (And threshers) to hit that level 60 on second playthrough.
ME1 is on Playstation through the Mass Effect Trilogy release.
Is that the PS 3 version? Cos I heard it won't work on PS 4? Could probably try via PS Now I suppose...
I remember they had to do a comic / weird precursor to Dragon Age Keep for ME 1 so PS users could play ME 2.
A remaster would still be good for current gen though. W Orst case, I'll get the trilogy so can do it on PS.
Yes, it’s the PS3 release. The games haven’t made their way onto PS Now yet, so much like Xbox, the seventh-gen release is the only way to play them right now.
(No seriously, that is ridiculous; at least the quarians know how to take quarantines properly; it is in their fucking name).
Kinda makes me wish that we could make suits like that, at least then we could go out in public and wouldn't have to shut down nonessential businesses.
Waifu Effect concludes with her blowing up the Reapers, because that's what we came here to do, after all.
In-setting, what exactly would be the justification to pick Control or Synthesis, exactly? Other than "indoctrinated" or "believed everything Space Joff told them"?
Not killing the Geth and EDI. Or, finding a solution that doesn't involve shooting everything if possible.

Reluctance to destroy the geth and EDI ?
Besides that, rationale for control for me was always that the game essentially establishes the reapers are led by a faulty VI that can't even understand it's flawed, and if led by an entity capable of learning from contradictions they could have fulfilled their actual purpose of preventing races from co-extermining each other. Control is shepard taking the driver seat and telling the catalyst "you're doing it wrong." and then making the world a better place without the loss of life of Destruction.

Venture Beat rumor: the HD remaster of one of EA's properties they said they plan to release in FY2021 during their earnings call is the Mass Effect Trilogy.
