Sounds fun. And more functional than the last app I downloaded.
...Which happened to be a port of NASU, of all things.
In the backyard, buried deep underneath the tree There's a monster, takin' root in the property...Usually functional. Only occasional bumps.
I've been able to cover half of my school, but the Enlightened apparently have the other side.
Is it MMO, or...
In the backyard, buried deep underneath the tree There's a monster, takin' root in the property...MMOARG. It's an alternate reality game that you play in the real world.
Woo, Resistance!
I've been around since the early closed beta, but I haven't really gotten into it until now. Turns out somebody set up a Resistance portal at some old mailbox just downstairs from where I live, and there's a cluster of Resistance portals only 10 minutes away. Sweeeeeeet.
The closest portal to where I live is about 2 km. away, but I tried to set one up at the park closer by.
Also suggested one at a statue at school and where I work, but the latter one I set before I realized what kind of portals they were looking for.
Sadly my neighborhood doesn't have many landmarks, which was yet another reason to look for a new job.
After screwing around my district for a while, setting up resonators, taking isolated neutral portals and hacking every portal along my train route, the local Resistance found me and recruited me. They must be a pretty tight-knit, well-connected group.
Also apparently there's another L8 Enlightenment dickwad that lives around here that likes to fry all my resonators and convert every portal in the neighborhood to green.
Ah, Enlightened are like that. There's one that will attack my portals like half a day after I set em up.
...maybe I should make this the Resistance thread and one of the Enlightened makes an Enlightened thread.
Hmm. Very interesting. I wish I wasn't so busy with work. Maybe I'll give it a go whenever I have any nightlife adventures with friends.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Eh, if you ever walk anywhere. Particularly artsier public places. There are over a dozen portals downtown in the city where I live and at least half a dozen at my college.
Finally met the local Resistance in person (it's one guy really). Taught me a few tips and tricks, gave me some free stuff, and we went around the local park hacking and deploying and going head to head with the local Enlightenment member. Gaining levels fast. :D
Better bring a portable charger next time, Ingress is still a massive battery hog.
The first few levels are easy to gain when you have the time and enough portals around. I started last week and I'm still L3 though.
The trick is either to recruit people or get connected with the ones already playing...
Yeah, I noticed I need a lot more AP to make it from L3 to L4 and so on.
It'll be good exercise at least.
Just downloaded the app. Hopefully there'll be lots of portals in town. The Enlightened have a massive lead over here, so maybe I should seek out the local Resistance-players.

Heh, so I'm catching up on nianticproject.com and it turns out that I was over a year behind. I'm watching all the Ingress Reports, and people don't seem to get the span of it.
Really? It's all the dirty "Enlightened" over on this end.

The most edgy person on the Internet. The Enlightened are fewer, but I think they make up for it by being better connected.
Looking at the numbers now they'll probably never be in the majority, but they can still come out on top due to better coordination and stronger resolve.
Most of my friends are Enlightened I believe. But they tend to ignore the lore anyways and believe both sides are right. Personally I'm waiting on the ios version to be released.

I'm catching up on the backstory and more of it seems to be about the Enlightened.
It's making them look cultish but with a lot more representation than your average cult.
I thought it was rather ironic that the Resistance was the first choice...the idea that XM was something dangerous instead of something inspiring.
Oh well. It's more important that people play at all than what side they're on. Though if their philosophies change, their alignment still can't.
Just started playing. My whole uni is Enlightened territory. O_o
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Last I saw, so was mine. It was like I was the only Resistance on the whole campus.
But ever since graduating I don't have much time to go walking around hitting portals anymore. Even the one I set up close to my house got Enlightened and I haven't gotten up the will to go change it back. ;p
I really want to move somewhere with a higher portal density.
...Sorry if this counts as necroing, but I joined the game earlier this morning and already I'm hooked. Unfortunately, my entire university's campus is claimed by Lv. 8 members of the Resistance (I'm one of the Enlightened, by the way). Since I'm going to be spending the next week or so on here, this is going to be a looong game...
I always appreciate a necro to a topic I started.
I found out that people who have the time to play Ingress may not be spending the rest of their time troping. Still, I like having a place to talk about it.
Joined a fortnight ago, myself, and our page on the game seems rather under-troped. :(
Time for some Wiki Magic.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
Ingress is a free game for smartphones where you visit real world landmarks to open portals with Exotic Matter that you collect by walking. It's really fun, and good for people who use smartphones and walk.
Post your news and experiences here (go Resistance).
