Calypso: Do you really think we need two flying Faunus? Seems a bit redundant if you ask me. Then again, what do I know, right? *flaps wings sarcastically*

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI'm familiar with the Epic. I just imagine him to look like the thing in FFVI. Epic!Gil was a dick. "Soo, you got married? As the king, I get to screw your wife first!"
Well, it hardly seems fair to not let someone in for such a reason...
Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism.>implying there exists an incarnation of Gil that isn't a dick
True, that.
Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism. The Frightful Four
A name given to a quartet of Grimm species that have caused a great deal of grief to humanity in there every appearance. They also raise a worrying question about the nature of the Grimm. Each Grimm is seemingly an immitation of an animal, and the Frightful Four are made in imitation of the human form. This comes with all the intelligence that implies, with a frightening power to back it and the same antipathy for humanity to drive it.
Most worry of all are the findings of archaelogical discoveries, backed by ancient tales. These breed of Grimm did not exist with the others during pre-history. Their birth appears to coincide with the rise of humanity. The most ancient of recordings actually seem to regard these things as something relatively new, and appropriately horrifying. It's as if the Grimm collectively developed a counter measure to the growing threat of humanity.
Fortunately, the Frightful Four appear to be extremely introverted and territorial, at least in regards to other members of their species. A tribe of Grendel, an order of Black Knights, a coven of Lich or a family of Mephisto, such things never form. Unfortunately, to other members of the Frightful Four, they get along extremely well and will work in tandem.
- Name: Grendel
- Appearance: Like all of the Frightful Four, they roughly take the shape of a man, but taller. Grendel are the least human, more ape-like, with hunched over back and long brutish arms. They bear a skull mask-like growth over the top half of their heads and bone spikes growing from their joints. Older Grendel have longer spikes
- Abilities: Grendel hit like a sledgehammer, but their defining trait is that they move like the wind. Not as fast as Ruby, but faster than everyone else.
- Weakness: The spikes are weakpoints, or they mark weakpoint, specifically joints. Grendel seem to just, sort of, fall apart easy at the elbows, shoulders, hips and knees. Their limbs ends are very strong, but the rest of them tends to go splat.
- Name: Black Knight
- Appearance: Black Knights are twice as tall as the average man. Their heads, the top half covered in a skull-mask like growth, appears tiny compared to the rest of their body. They are covered in a white chitin bone growth, forming a bulky armor over their body, similar to full plate armor. Younger Black Knights have growths on their arms, one being a wide disc and the other a blade. Older Black Knights broke these growths off and fashioned handles into them, a sword and shield, carrying them on their back, somehow, when not in use.
- Abilities: Black Knights are furiously strong and furiously sturdy, they are juggernauts of physical combat and dominate within their reach.
- Weakness: They lack any sort of range and their means of locomotion are extremely slow. Although their arms can be fast, and they turn at their hips like an owl, their legs are just ponderously slow.
- Name: Lich
- Appearance: Taller than a man, they are skeletal and gaunt, with flesh pulled tight over their bones. They have a growth of leathery skin forming something like robes on their body. Like the rest of the Four, they have a kind of half-skull mask growth. The younger ones have an extension of their spine growing up out of their necks, with a crystal at the top. The older ones have broken off this growth, wielding it like a staff.
- Abilities: The crystal growth at the top of their spines is Dust. They. Shoot. Lasers. Exploding lasers. Sometimes of some elemental affinity, often non-elemental as the composite dust of their 'staff' has no dominate type.
- Weakness: Although they can soak up more damage than their frame would suggest, supposedly they don't feel pain and have extremely slow metabolism, they are extremely weak. Or, more accurately, not remarkably strong. They're stronger than a normal human but not by much.
- Name: Mephisto
- Appearance: The most human looking of the Four, they appear as simply an extremely tall, androgynous man with a doll-like anatomy and pitch black skin. They often wear the pelts of "lesser" Grim as purposefully fashioned clothes. Their "skull cap", that the other Four sport, also has horns. The older the Mephisto, the longer and more numerous the horns and the more they begin to resemble a crown.
- Abilities: Mephisto are smarter than the rest. What's more, they seem to gather other Grimm around them, cowing them into obedience, organizing them into a force. Younger ones will have a few 'minions', working their way up to full fledged 'army' in their greater age. Alongside their appearance, this has earned them the moniker "Princes Of Darkness". Worst of all is that the rest of the Four will congregate around this leader figure if it's old and powerful enough.
- Weakness: They are nearly as fragile as Grendel, weak as Lich and slow as a Black Knight. Also, their ability to gather a 'force' is entirely age dependent. What's more, youngsters have a tendency to announce their presence to humans in some fashion, leading to an early death. It's also observed that young Mephisto will over reach themselves in controlling 'lesser' grim and be killed. Young Mephisto will even seek one another out to kill each other, often to their mutual assured destruction. Older Mephisto will do the same, wiping out younger potential rivals. Therefore, their population remains exceedingly low, but the few that do manage to remain for long are extremely dangerous.

I dunno, I just feel like the name Satan should go to something a lot more threatening...
Good to be backCan't think of another name.
I'm Catholic.
So, uh, it may make me less uncomfortable if you change that name.
Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism.Well, like, alone they're no big deal, but being able to essentially give Grimm a way to negate one of their main weaknesses—that they're just big dumb animals—makes them super dangerous.
How about Mephistos or Fausts to take a page from Devil May Cry?
/人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ Will you make a contract with me?That sounds cool.
Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism.Cool!
Now for something completely different!
Nothing is what it seems. Master of Shipping and Sadism.Urujauni: I can't help but wonder if 'A Modest Death' is really so effective... it works well enough against Grimm, but against other Hunters, and in comparison to the others... it feels so, redundant, I suppose. When father sent me on this mission beyond the Court, I know I shouldn't judge, but... the others have such impressive weapons.
AKA - Eventua wonders if maybe 'A Modest Death' is too dull and basic, considering that there's at least one other person with a shield that doubles as a melee weapon, and outside of her 'Transition' semblance Urujauni has no ranged attacks.
ALSO
Can I add more worldbuilding stuff here, that could be of note (if it's okay to be made 'canon' in this version of Remnant)?
ALSO
How do I make my text purple, for Urujauni?
ALSO
Tara Dejos hasn't yet been added to the OP in sign-ups?

Raqib: Ahh, but modesty is a virtue, ain't it? Besides, such a weapon should never, ever distract from the beauty of the wielder, right? Take my Rhythm & Blues for example, simple and efficient yet vaguely charming. Not as charming as myself, obviously.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior Val- cricket noises as a reply -
"I am nature's weapon. You are unfit to carry on your species, and I shall ensure that you do not do so!" - Charles Darwin, XCOM SniperBarry:Is it possible to be that egotistical?
-tilts head-
/人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ Will you make a contract with me?Urujauni: Yes, I suppose that modesty *is* a virtue... which means my weapon has one advantage over yourself, then.
Jack: [[Green: I get the distinct feeling that this will not be an uneventful year.]]
Good to be backCastaniu: That's a pity. Was hoping for some quiet.
"I am nature's weapon. You are unfit to carry on your species, and I shall ensure that you do not do so!" - Charles Darwin, XCOM SniperRufous: *grunt*
Urujauni: You know, back in Ua Tatu my father would set arrogant young Hunters like yourself various tests. Win, and he'd be fit to marry into the family. Fail, and he'd get fed to a pack of hungry Inkanyamba. I get the impression you might fear the latter more so.
-shrug-
Now, a question - hands up if any of you have actually been to one of the Courts? Eh, 'Atlas', I think is your name for them?
No, Gilgamesh and Enkidu killed him because they were bored and Gil wanted to prove he could. He was a giant in the Cedar Forest, which actually opens up some damn questions because where the hell are there cedar forests in Iraq?! That's actually some of the more modern proof being looked at that people other than Europeans engaged in the same imperialism and expansionism as Europe.
