Super Sonico The Animation

Episode 10:

• Check out Suzu's cat hat.
• Sonico, Kindhearted Cat Lover now. Crazy Cat Lady in the future? Naw.
• The following thought must have crossed that Shiba-inu's mind as Sonico's cat brigade pounced: I'm so screwed.
• Those cats are street smart. I liked how they also asked a dog for aid.
• After all of this, of course they would become friends.
• Nice ED.

Christmas episode, and nothing says Christmas like boobs!

So yeah, the usual feel-goodness of Sonico is here, completely with saving the shopping distric through the power of boobs and Sonico's grandma being really intimidating. Also little girl faith in Santa through the power of... very quick outfit changes.

The hp meters were funny.

I liked the way Sonico was wearing the earmuffs. And she has tail? whatever.

For some reason they all have different HP meters.

Why is Suzu standing up there? Why Not?

Store owner smoking in front of the no smoking sign!

The earmuffs were needed! Sonico's ear must be covered at all times!

Episode 11. In which there's a Santa.

Snazzy suit.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Sonico's outfit. The cut reminds me of Chun Li, with a narrower front and split back. Also has those hair covers which are totally not earmuffs. Fuuri's I'm not that fond of.

Ouka knows how to make a dramatic entrance. And is completely ignored. Poor her. Sometimes I wonder how she can keep her job. But then I'm reminded that she is actually rather good at keeping a crowd going.

30% above average. Is that average for the season, or average for the year? Because if it's the latter, it's not really that impressive.

Hot drink restoration: Successful!

I find their idols better. Both male and female. The more expensive ones just seemed excessive.

Yeah. Good English. Let's call it that. It's not as if I suddenly have to suspend my disbelief for that.

Just saying, a remote controlled helicopter is probably a little much for a little kid. Those are hard to control.

So corny, but it somehow works.

There's one thing that's missing. Suzu Santa Suit.

Episode 11:

• No way the shopping district was gonna lose out to a department store with such a generic name.
• Suzu, why are you so boss?
• Fighting Fanservice with Fanservice!
• Reira's good at convincing people.
• The moment I saw the Santa for the episode, I knew Ayaka would be a happy girl at the end.

Apparently, Suzu is legendary in the shopping district.

Loli-model looked best in costume imo. Totally unfair that she, Sonico and Fuuri had to wear nothing in December while Sonico's school friends got to wear actual winter clothes.

I lost it at "I will make you very trouble."

Oh hey, Hannya manager, we haven't seen him in quite a while!

Aww, the reunion was adorable!

Episode 12. In which everyone appears.

That concert had better animation than songs. Not that the songs were bad, though. If they were the episode would be kind of bad. And probably the highest number of songs I've heard in a single episode.

Putting Suzu on the spot like that is funny.

So, they couldn't afford it because Suzu geeked out.

Leila was and is awesome. She seems to have shrunken a bit, though.

I'll be watching it later. Is this the last episode? If not, how much more are we getting?

It's the last. There's also no OP, nor the usual ED.

I cry now

Sonico has been a fun surprise. I hope they do more next year. I fell out of regularly watching anime years ago, when I realized what I was following was utter shit. I'm only watching this and Kill la Kill right now, of the two I liked Sonico much more.

I'll have to sit down and see the last episode when I have time to watch all my weekly videos.

Episode 12: The last episode is unfortunately the least interesting episode, but it ties things up nicely. A Where Are They Now episode with a lot of perfectly decent, but forgettable songs. Sonico's grandma is awesome. May be a better guitarist than Sonico-chan since she's had more years of experience! I was expecting Sonico to talk to her bestie from high school, but nope. Wasn't she in the audience with a baby though?

I don't know when I will re-watch, but I can definitely see myself watching some episodes over again to relax when I have the time, and enjoying them just as much.

Yeah, that was her with the baby. And she's previously shown that she doesn't want to be seen by Nico.

I found it interesting that Nico also recognised who was playing by sound alone.

Episode 12:

• FAV was in a pinch. Therefore, crank The Power of Friendship to its utmost limit!
• Reira's still got it.
• I'm beginning to like cameo appearances. And wow, fancy seeing you there as well, Toma! Looks like she's married.

Rock on, Sonico. Rock on.

Episode 12: In which everyone helps out.

The songs were actually pretty nice.

It was good to see everyone again.

I really like when all the things the protagonist did through the series pay off in the end. It's so satisfying.

This was a great way to end the series I think.

Super Sonico is one of the biggest positive surprises of the season. I started watching it not expecting much, but man was I wrong. Great show, I hope we get a second season.

Well, this was certainly better than expected. (ok, it would probably have been difficult to lower expectations)

Still, it was cute are relaxing while being less boring than expected.

Best episodes: Zombies, Mystery(Ena!), School Festival (multi-Sonico!) and Sonico's Trip

Worst: Probably the cats.

She never did take the headphones off I think.

The headphones are part of her.

Cripes, I seriously did NOT expect anything with Super Sonico as its frontliner to be a relaxing Iyashikei keeper. One of the most pleasant surprises of the season. I can probably pick an episode at random and either feel relaxed, or enjoy myself in some manner.

Now that I've finally sat down and watched the final episode, I have to say, I love how it pretty much gave a nod to everything and everyone that's happened during its run (see Fuuri's comments on both the zombies on the cruise liner and the melting dress).

That said, I'm a bit annoyed that, even though Toma-sempai made it to the concert, there was no on-screen reunion for her and Sonico. :(

Oh, and the show never did properly introduce Super Pochaco, did it? Everything we've seen of her, it's been in the background. Note how, in addition to her being blonde now, she's no longer wearing glasses as well?

Damnit Pochaco, stop blocking Toma-sempai.

Yeah, the fact that Sonico didn't have a proper reunion with Toma-sempai is my only grievance with the show.

Also who was the blonde chick? I don't think we ever seen her before.

We first see her during the Okinawa episode. She's the chubby girl who buys Sonico's gravure mag when she gets back from the shoot. She's usually hovering in the background, and we see definite changes whenever she DOES appear — she gains twintails, then she becomes blonde, then in this episode she loses the glasses. Kind of assumes that she's using Sonico as a rolemodel, though Sonico never interacts with her directly.

So this Pochaco is Sonico's relative? (Which would make Super the family name....which is hilarious.)

But yeah, it would have been nice to see Toma again.

Hero of Another Story material, but she's definitely using Sonico as a sort of template. There's a definite rise in confidence in every bit where she appears (culminating in her joining a talent agency I think in episode 9).
