Oh my God why do I not have this on my threadlist.
Maybe the movie is about how even negative emotions have their use? Like how fear keeps us safe or anger drives us to action? Somewhat heavy stuff for a kid's movie but then again, all good Pixar movies have deeper meanings.
Yeah I wonder what the message will be. It takes practice to keep your emotions in check? Joy prevails?
I would be happy with something like "it's okay to have negative emotions". Mainly because the opposite is what I encounter a lot in life, and I get sick and tired of always being expected to be happy and in a good mood. Like being anything else is unnatural.
i. hear. a. sound.Given the way that Joy is highlighted in that image I imagine that she's the main hero. The others might be antagonists for all we know.
I do hope these aren't all the emotions that appear in the film. It'd be kind of a creative waste. "Disgust" in particular strikes me as an odd choice if they wanted to highlight the emotions we tend to think of first.
I'm cautiously optimistic for this, though. It seems a lot more old-school Pixaresque than the last few movies they've made.

What would you consider old school Pixar?
Me too. It's the time of the year/age where I keep hearing my friends getting engaged en-mass and feel pathetic for it. I can't figure out how to express my feelings toward them now even though I know it should be joy, but other emotions are strong in me too. A lesson like that would be great about emotions in a movie.
I just mean in the sense that it looks like the kind of "Secret life of X" plot that they've done in different way in many of their films. Not counting sequels, it's been a while since they've done a scenario along those lines.

Oh that type of old school. The last time they did that was maybe Finding Nemo. That or the first Cars.
Hrm... color me interested.
This sounds interesting. Plus i am certain this will be good because Pixar has been on the upswing since the noble misfire of brave
Presenting!Upswing? How can you know that? I know Monsters University isnt as bad as Brave but still...
Well Brave was a vast improvement on Cars 2
Presenting!That's still hardly an upswing.
And Monster University itself was pretty awesome.
Monsters University was underwhelming as it offered no real surprise. Cars 2 was.......... Cars 2. - _ - So yeah I'm still waiting on the next great Pixar film like Toy Story 3.
Is that seriously your reason for thinking Monster University is underwhelming?
Really, now? -_-

It's a prequel - what surprise were you expecting that we didn't get?
i was certainly surprised by the fact that Mike and Sully didn't finish college.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Or the fact that they ended up in the real world or that Sulley cheated.

And how Mike and Randal were best friends up until Mike got kicked out of the scare program and that Mike played a significant role in helping Randal become the scarer he was in the original movie.
And now I opened a can of worms.
I loved MU, I thought it was very brave to have the message it did. There aren't a lot of children's films that tell you you can give something your all and still ultimately fail at it. I don't know why it underwhelmed most people, but it did.
Because people will be people who aren't satisfied with anything.
Your Honor...
I think a key part of the story is that the main character is forced to move, and she isn't happy about it. Moving from Minnesota to California is a pretty drastic change, after all.
