@slimcoder Here it is.
I actually really liked Convergence as an ending. It seemed a pretty ideal compromise - pre-reboot fans get to see those characters given more satisfying endings (Ryan Choi resurrected, Lian Harper saved, Nightwing and Oracle married, etc.), while post-reboot fans get to those characters' stories continued. What's not to love?

There we go.
Ya know its rather telling for their hyped up Brazilian Wonder Woman, they got a white woman from Idaho writing her but for their black Batman they specifically got a famous black creator capable of writing accurate topical issues for the character.
The Goddman favoritism. The non-binary Flash didn't even have their own book or appear in the Flash book, they were only in the JL book.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I suddenly realized that today's comics are like the soap operas of yore.
Controversial opinion: ideally these characters will one day be public domain.

The creative teams for the new Milestone titles have been announced!
- Static Season One: written by Vita Ayala, layouts by ChrisCross and finishes by Niklas Draper-Ivey, with covers by Khary Randolph
- Icon and Rocket Season One: written by Reginald Hudlin (boooo) and Leon Chills, with art by Doug Braithwaite, with covers by Taurin Clarke
- Hardware Season One: written by Brandon Thomas, with art by Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz, with covers by Mateus Mahanini
Tough break for Icon and Rocket, but Vita's supposed to be one of the best, right?
I dunno about one of the best, but I have enjoyed their work on New Mutants. And I'm looking forward to Children of the Atom.
Well at least Static isn't getting fucked over.
Poor Icon and Rocket though, yeeesh.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."x3 - Icon really deserves better, but at least Hardware and Static might be worth a read, as long as they jettison all of Hudlin's notes. Hardware is going to be really interesting to see given that he was originally designed as a Steel Expy that was way more cynical (and a '90s Anti-Hero deconstruction), only now the guy with Power Armor motif is clearly more associated with Iron Man.

I know little of Icon but what I do know makes me horrified at the possibility of Hudlin handling it.
2 potential red flags, Black Republican and Teenage Pregnancy.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It be nice if someone could find it cause I’m having trouble.
Pssh, it's probably just a troll article...
(*reads article*)
...Oh.
The name “Flor” is one of the many elements of the character’s creation where we can see the lack of commitment. Indigenous people take their surname from their fathers and it represents their ethnicity. Since they haven’t committed to any one ethnicity or one of the many Indigenous languages in Brazil, they had to give her a generic word in Portuguese. The bare minimum they could’ve done was give her a generic word in an Indigenous language as her surname, but they couldn’t even do that, because that would require some commitment. Her ethnicity is being treated as a mystery besides being played for aesthetics.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Does anyone else get the sinking feeling Joelle Jones is veering dangerously close to getting #MeToo'd or is it just me?
I mean, this could easily be rectified if Yara was born Brazil and raised Brazil until she was three or four and her ongoing can be about her getting back into her Brazilian roots, and...
Goddamnit! This has to be DiDio's fault! It has to be!
Edited by TargetmasterJoe on Feb 26th 2021 at 1:09:41 AM
Well he did come up with the character idea as a Visual Pun (Amazon from the Amazon)
I do frequent a Discord with a bunch of Brazilians and there was a collective groan at her being from the Amazon cause Amazons, get it (wink, wink).
Brazil's a huge-ass place and only the single place out of that entire massive landmass ever gets mentioned.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yikes, that just solidifies the situation.
Seriously, DiDio has been gone for a little over a year now. With him not involved with DC, is Joelle Jones in that fragile position where if she doesn't watch what she says, she could kiss her career good-bye like J.K. Rowling and Warren Ellis?
Joelle Jones is guilty of culturally insensitive writing, sure, but as far as I know she hasn't committed either blatant transphobia nor grooming of her younger fans and colleagues.
Honesty seems like a large argument for DC to invest in sensitivity readers, or rather sensitivity editors.
At the very least make more of an effort than just with Batman.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Apparently the Nubia GN got out, was it any good?
Wake me up at your own risk....Hrrm. Maybe Rowling and Ellis weren't the best analogies. What I'm asking is if it's possible for Jones to get #MeToo'd in any way, shape, or form? I fear that if that article gets enough attention, the internet is going raise hell on Jones, possibly rendering Yara DOA or cursed. (Are there even any good Brazilian writers that could take the lead should the worst case scenario happen?)
In any case, the first six pages of Infinite Frontier #0 have dropped online.
So who are the Quintessence? I think I recognize Hera, Phantom Stranger, Highfather, and either Zeus or the Shazam Wizard? Also, I can already feel a groan at the Bendis-ism going on in what appears to be the first page of the book's Justice League portion...

Okay, what the fuck do you mean by "Me Too-ing Joelle Jones?" I've read the article and the author does not accuse her of sexual assault or rape or any of the other things that hashtag is about. If you mean "Twitter cancelled" then that's one thing, but she is not guilty of the things Me Too is about.
Edited by Aleistar on Feb 26th 2021 at 5:54:51 AM
...I was under the impression that "#MeToo" could apply to anyone who did something bad in general, be it regarding other cultures or anything else. I mean, the article's author is saying that Yara is written like someone's shallow idea of what constitutes as a strong Brazilian young woman.
But if #MeToo doesn't apply here, then I'll quit it. Sorry.
EDIT: Okay, how about getting boycotted? Is that a better term?
Edited by TargetmasterJoe on Feb 26th 2021 at 3:04:06 AM
Read the Wikipedia article. It's about sexual harassment and assault, not a blanket term for cancelled. Sorry if it seems like I'm snapping at you, but it's important that we keep our terminology straight when talking about serious issues like this.
EDIT: Boycotted or cancelled, work, sure.

Right, I get it now.
I just thought the article raised some seriously good points about how Yara as a concept seems half-baked at best and if DC and Jöelle really want her to soar, someone better acknowledge said points posthaste. I actually never thought she was half-baked until I read that article.
Otherwise, we're better off with an ongoing featuring Donna and Cassie called Wonder Girls.
Edited by TargetmasterJoe on Feb 26th 2021 at 3:12:17 AM
The sad thing is they were most likely really invested in that CW show and it not picking up may mean potentially grim things for Yara.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."My "one-trick pony" senses are tingling...
It was just another half-baked move for sales. And Di Dio of course tried to get rid of characters he didn't like. And no one even knew what the hell was going on, which sealed its fate.
Wake me up at your own risk.
