[up]I'd say 6, it starts out slow with just drums so maybe that's biasing me.

Slightly off topic but I think we should hyperlink the songs to cut down on lag and load time. Also, the above link isn't working.

Alright let's do it this way then: Pantera - Cowboys From Hell

7, I suppose, maybe even a 6 due to aging. It's got a lot of the makings of a hard rock song, and overall it's hardly their heaviest work, but at the same time the riff never stops working well.

Black Sabbath - Symptom Of The Universe

Here we have what might be the first thrash song (or at least the ground-work for the genre).

4 - It's just got the bare minimum level of distortion to reach that level.

I'd say 9, maybe a 10. Extremely heavy and loud but speed does still count for something

7, probably.

Side note: That's only the second Faith No More song I've listened to (guess which was the first), and they are definitely as weird as people say they are.

Iron Maiden - Be Quick or Be Dead

Probably Maiden's most aggressive song.

Aw, I wanted to post that one at some point.

I give it a 7, maybe a 7½. I almost reminds me of Painkiller at times.

Here we have a challenger to the title of Maiden's heaviest song (besides maybe Phantom of the Opera or The Fallen Angel).

Well that opening riff is heavy enough to possibly get the song up to level 8, but the song doesn't remain consistently heavy throughout, so I'll say it's a high 7.

7.5 - I like DT but it feels kinda weird thinking of them as a "heavy" band.

[up]Strong 10, definitely!

Be Quick or Be Dead and Monseigneur on the same page...if we're trying Maiden's heaviest song let's cheat and try some live (after death!)

7 - Maiden's generally higher register approach means that they rely a bit less on lower-string smashing and a bit more on fast, stabbing riff and lead work. It works well but it does limit how heavy they can get.

7/10. About what I'd expect in terms of heaviness from Sabbathy doom metal.

And now for a song by a band I don't listen to but I'm posting solely because I'm curious as to what it'll get: Harry Pussy - Riot Riot

I'd say level 10.

A bit lower from me:

Level 4

I like DT but it feels kinda weird thinking of them as a "heavy" band.

Then you might find this next one to be a bit weird:

Definitely the heaviest thing they've ever done.

8 - Just enough to get there. The main riff is a bit too stiff for this kind of metal.

[up]A very hard 10 because of the sheer speed and distortion. Not far from our first 11.

[up]A 5. It might be their heaviest song that I know of, but doesn't do much to surpass the base-line of heaviness you'd see in a Led Zeppelin song.

Speaking of which:
