Well, this month is over. Though, I feel like I might have miss any specials that might have actually been good... or, at least, favourable by many.

I just watched one featuring Curious George. Any recommendations?

Yep, I'm still here.

Rockos Modern Life and Hey Arnold were both solid and memorable. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and their stand-in holiday Nightmare Night was also a good story (though that could be the Luna fan in me talking).

The Disney Villain Halloween special...the one they did shortly before The Rescuers hit the theatres with the Magic Mirror doing the moderation. Even though it is mostly a collection of stock footage, I think the text they put on it is very thoughtful.

I loved the Halloween episode of the Angry Beavers called "The Day the Earth Got Really Screwed Up!" It was so hilarious and I loved the way that they mixed in the realistic drawings of the horror movie stars with the cartoonish appearance of Norbert and Daggett!

I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!

I liked Zim's special, at least more than its Christmas one.

The Simpsons reign supreme in this field, even while counting the relatively few stinkers in their specials.

Well, with the day of fear coming up, I suppose I should bump this thread smile

not that many Halloween specials are great imo, but these few are ones I enjoy:

Great Pumpkin

Haunted House

Halloween is grinch night

Does 'Summerween' count? Because if it does, then it definitely deserves a place here.

Halloween Is Grinch Night is a terrific special. Scary and surreal.

While technically a film I'd say Rankin Bass' Mad Monster Party counts. The script was written by Harvey Kurtzman, one of the great men of comic books, and the voice cast includes Boris Karloff and Phyllis Diller. I've seen it. It's a very good film.

As for Halloween episodes of shows I'll vouch for the Ren And Stimpy episode "Haunted House." The version with the bloody head fairy included.

The Sponge Bob Halloween special, "Scaredy Pants," is also good.

Oh, and Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Bing Crosby singing about the Headless Horseman proves he still had it in him even then.

I second 'Scaredy Pants' and the Ren And Stimpy Haunted House episode. Kim Possible had a good Halloween episode, too.

This is so old, but I had to rebump this thread because there is no newer and better Halloween special thread.

Any of you out there ever seen this one? I recently got it on VHS from a friend, and it's a helluva lot of fun.

Incidentally, my comments above on Mad Monster Party hold up. This should be to Halloween what Rudolph and Frosty are to Christmas. It's utterly psychotronic.

"Winnie The Pooh, Boo to You Too". I watch it all the time in October.

Hey Arnold had a rather fun take on the War of the World hoax, it even had Maurice La Marche doing his best Orson Welles impression for a minor character. It holds up really well, and I know it does because I binged watched all of Hey Arnold last year to prepare for The Jungle Movie.

[up]For some reason Helga calling Curly a "weird looking gerbil" in that episode always leaves me in stitches.

[up][up]I like that one too, Piglet's little song is adorable.

(TRIVIA: The special was added pretty much complete in Pooh's second Halloween special Pooh's Heffalump Halloween).

Of course, we shouldn't forget the other Nick Halloween specials. The Angry Beavers B-movie parody with Oxnard Montalvo; the Cat Dog episode with the Peruvian vampire ticks...

Though I haven't seen the Rocko one in a long while.

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror episodes are quite memorable, at least the specials from the earlier seasons of the series, before the Seasonal Rot really kicked in.

Scary Godmother and its sequel are pretty much Halloween classics, at least if you were a kid in the 2000's.

I never liked Scary Godmother, and it kinda creeped me out as a kid (probably because of the animation)
