MASTER

  • Name: Francesca Moreau

  • Faction: The Church

  • Age: 28

  • Gender: Female

  • Description: A 5'9 woman with vaguely patrician features, strawberry-blonde hair, and grey-green eyes.

  • Personality: A duty bound woman who currently sees exterminating vampires, demons, and heretics as a duty, in contrast to her younger self, who gleefully hunted down vampires out of a sense of vengeance. When it comes to interacting with other people, she's a lot more open and bubbly, but

  • Abilities: A decent swordswoman, having practiced since she was in her early teens as well as a fairly good marksman, due to her tenure in the army.

  • Bio: Grew up in a loving household to decently wealthy parents, who owned several mansions around France, due to the fact that they were in charge of a well-to-do shipping company, but were also secret members of the Executors. As she grew older and entered her teens, she started to display a growing interest in weaponry, whether melee or ranged. Her parents encouraged their daughter's martial interests, permitted her to go to a firing range and practice with a teacher who was reasonably competent before approaching her with an offer to join the agency that they were part of. Having never heard of the agency, she refused, wanting to do something else with her life when she graduated college.

She got through high school and college with minimal fuss and joined the army as soon as she got out of college. Boot camp was a bit grueling for her, but she managed to make it through and got the rank of Private. She didn't see much fighting, but it was during her tenure with the French Army that she got her first taste of the supernatural.

During a routine base sweep before curfew, she noticed that there was a bloodstain in the mess hall that hadn't been there before. When she went to check it out, she was attacked by a vampire and tried to fend him off until a fellow soldier, who was her lover, heard her and came rushing into the mess hall, opening fire on the vampire with her sidearm and getting her head ripped off for her troubles, after which the vampire fled into the night.

Several days later, after she finally managed to get over her shock, she decided to quit the army and devote her life to hunting down vampires, which she quickly discovered moved faster than she could shoot, forcing her to set up traps before she led the vampire into them and finished it off. She ran across an agent of the Church while on one of her vampire hunts, who decided to induct her into the Executors after the vampire she was hunting was killed, partially due to her experience in killing vampires, but mostly due to the fact that her parents had been Executors.

After arriving at the main bastion of the Church, she became excited by all the lore on vampires that the Church had in their library and took several volumes for herself to study. Several months later, during downtime between Executor missions, she stumbled on a grimoire in the library that told her of a ritual to summon a legendary hero of myth. Excited by the possibilities, she started preparing the materials required for the summoning ritual.

She managed to pull the ritual off successfully, but ran into one problem when she finished the summoning ritual, mainly that Arjuna was a girl and looked nothing like the stories she'd read in order to get a feel for what Arjuna was like. When she confronted Arjuna about this, the archer laughed and said that Vyasa believed that a woman couldn't do all of those things and said that she was a blue-skinned man in his retelling of the events, but said that she was the daughter of a god, since those kinds of things happened a lot during the time period that she lived in.

After she got used to Arjuna, the Church, who had been watching her bond with her servant secretly, told her that she was going to Akahele, Hawaii to participate in the latest Grail War in a few days and that she should gain some knowledge of what the Grail War was before participating in it. She spent the next few days before her flight to Hawaii reading up on the history of the Grail War, before flying to Hawaii to participate in the War, thinking up a wish for herself if she were to win, which would be to become a more efficient Executor.

Anti-Gnosis Weapon
#103: Sep 19th 2013 at 8:47:17 PM

  • Name: Meri Toivonen
  • Faction: None.
  • Age: 17
  • Gender: Female
  • Description: Yeah? What are you lookin' at, old man?
  • Personality: Tryin' to get Meri Toivonen to do as you say just 'cause you're older than her or dressed in a fancy-schmancy suit or somethin'? Too bad! Meri's not a part of your system, maaaaaaan! Aside from trouble with authority figures and rules, however, she's a very nice young woman, honest, kind, friendly, and a good listener. In fact, until her rebelliousness and impulsivity rear their heads, she often seems to be more mature than her age in many ways. All of that aside, though, Meri is not only a diehard, tree-hugging idealist, but also the type of person who would put her life on the line for a random stranger without a second thought. Indeed, the entire reason she's risking herself in the Grail War in the first place is for a chance at a wish that will make life better not just for herself, but for everyone. Even with all her resolve, however, she still has a certain naivete about the world, and she hasn't quite made the connection that she might have to actually kill people to reach her goal...
  • Abilities:
    • Affinity: Water
    • Runic Magecraft: In spite of her heritage, due to not paying attention in her studies, Meri knows only one rune: the Memory Manipulation rune, which is effective on normal humans for maintaining secrecy, but not Servants or mages/Masters.
    • Demi-Water Elemental: The crux of Meri's abilities was defined by the circumstances of her birth. Although it affords her certain advantages above normal mages and humans, being half-elemental still has its drawbacks. For example, with her blood being made up of a far greater percentage of water than normal people, she must ingest far more liquid than a typical human being to stay hydrated, and being dehydrated has graver health consequences. In addition, she is extremely susceptible to freezing attacks, and to some degree, very cold weather. That being said, she thinks it's worth it, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
      • As a part-water-nature-being, Meri is able to communicate with fish and other aquatic creatures as easily as with humans. They generally show a certain amount of deference to her, although this is not absolute. Also, she does not need to breathe while submerged in water, as she is able to filter in oxygen, and she is incapable of drowning in water unless it is highly colloidal. Not coincidentally, she is a skilled swimmer.
      • She can slightly but significantly speed up her body's natural healing beyond that of a human by absorbing additional water.
      • Meri is able to freely direct and control all water within a certain radius as well as alter its phase - this includes causing water to hover in midair and so on - as long as it has not been affected by magecraft. This is the source of most of her offensive capability. Water manipulated by Meri is not treated as anomalous by Gaia, meaning that it costs essentially no prana to use, and magecraft which does not act on natural water will also not be able to affect Meri's water; however, such techniques not any more deadly or durable than natural water, either. The blood of living beings cannot be affected by these powers due to the active interference of Magic Circuits.
      • She is able to extend her sense of touch through local water (e.g. dense fog, lake) within a certain radius.
      • Hearkening back to another defining trait of her elemental ancestry, she's able to turn her entire body into water as a last resort escape. While in such a state, she cannot manipulate any water except herself, and in order to reform, she must do absolutely nothing else but reconstitute herself for 24 hours.
      • After a full day and night of nothing but preparation and ritual, she is capable of affecting local weather to the point of causing a rainstorm for most of the next day, after which the weather will shift back to normalcy.
    • The demi-elemental also has two familiars: Jerry, a highly-intelligent goldfish kept in a bowl at home, and Leslie, an adolescent Whale-Shark. Though massive, Leslie is very docile, and not very bright. She's generally only useful for overturning boats or as a getaway "vehicle", not for actually biting people. Although Meri has been trying to determine the logistics of mounting a laser cannon on Leslie's back, her efforts have thus far borne no fruit.
  • Bio: Meri is the product of a union between a Water Elemental (her mother) and the heir of a preeminent Finnish mage family which heads the Thule Society (a conclave of Scandinavian mages who possess the original runic scripts). Although having plenty of Magic Circuits, she was passed over for inheriting family headship in favor of her younger brother, because her father was afraid a demi-human headship would not be accepted as legitimate by the rest of the Sea of Estray (a rival conglomerate of mage groups outside of the Mage's Association, to which the Society belongs). Thus, not only was the family's esoteric knowledge not imparted to her, but she also slacked off in the lessons they did provide her, and often disobeyed her father and step-mother, sneaking out to explore the city they lived near and making trips to visit her birth-mother. It was through the latter that she developed her great and abiding love of nature, as well as a better understanding of her own connection to the natural world and all that entailed. It has been approximately one year since one of her tutors taught her about the existence and mechanics of the Grail War, and six months since she ran away from home, pilfered some of her father's vast bank account, and slowly began her trek across the globe to the little island in Hawaii called Akahele. For the sake of sustaining her lifestyle and not having to dig into her ill-gotten, limited savings, Meri has also taken up a day job on the island.
  • Assets: $20,000 USD "borrowed" from her father, and a nicely-furnished houseboat moored at one of the island's docks.

Here's comes the Castullus!
I'm still iffy about his second NP and his personal skills. I welcome concrit about those.

  • Class: Caster.
  • Master: TBD.
  • True Name: Gaius Valerius Catullus.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Height/Weight: Tall/lanky.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.
  • Appearance: Yes?
  • Personality: Catullus is a contradictory man. On one hand, he is rather controlled by his controlled by his passions; on the other hand, he has a discerning eye, a keen mind and a great talent for poetry. Separated from his lover Lesbia (who probably was Clodia Metelli, the wife of Publius Clodius Pulcher), his latter part is more dominant than the former. However, he can change in the flash of an eye; it is known that he wrote a poem lampooning Caesar, apologised to him and dined with him at the same day.
  • Stats:
    • Strength: D.
    • Endurance: D.
    • Agility: C.
    • Magical Energy: B.
    • Luck: A.
    • Noble Phantasm (Rank): A.
  • Class Skills:
    • Territory Creation (B): Creation of a “Workshop” becomes possible. Catullus' Workshop takes form of a large Roman house. The pool in the Atrium is always full of clear water, there's always enough food for a feast in the kitchens, and there are invisible slaves to tend to its maintenance and to the guests. They're not combat-capable, however, nor can they leave the Workshop.
    • Item Construction (C): Catullus' craft skills are sorely lacking for a Caster, and what items he can create mainly relate to the spreading of information, as well as those pertaining to the craft of an officer in the Roman Legions.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Disengage (C): By improvising a scathing poem on the spot, Catullus can distract an opponent, resetting the conditions of a battle to the beginning.
    • Eye for Art (A): When Catullus sees a Noble Phantasm, there's a 1/5th chance that he will identify its name. For Spirits originating from his era (end of the Roman Republic), the chance increases to 1/4th.
  • Noble Phantasms:
    • Recitation in the Forum, Public Shaming by Poem (C-Rank, Support): Once he has composed a poem, Catullus can choose to read it in public. By reciting it while there is at least one person listening, Catullus can choose up to one-hundred additional people who will also hear the poem. They will know that Caster is the one reciting. Caster can use extremely vague descriptors for the people listening, but the spell chooses the closest ones that fit the description to listen over those father away. Aside from usually having the poem's target's weaknesses revealed (since this is used in conjunction with Eye of a Poet), targets will receive a rank-down to Luck for six hours and a rank-down to another random stat for four hours.
    • Eye of a Poet, Finding One's Shames (A-Rank Anti-Unit): Catullus has a keen eye for weaknesses, shames, and metaphorical skeletons in the closet (literal ones are like Christmas come early for the guy). By witnessing one fighting or interacting with a stranger, Catullus can find their most obvious weakness; for the purpose of this Noble Phantasm, weaknesses stemming from misdeeds or defects of personality count as the most obvious. Repeated witnessing of battles, or personal interaction, will reveal further weaknesses.
  • Other: I'm listing a couple of the spells he'll use.
    • Lorica Segmentata: Creates a force-field around its target, warding them as though they were wearing a breastplate, armoured kilt and shin guards, without limiting mobility.
    • Phantasmata Gladii: Summons up to three Gladii (Roman short swords). They are capable of hurting Servants.

<Peanut Gallery mode: on>
First of all, your Master lacks personality. Her personality can be summed up as 'hates vampires', and that's... not much. Second, being in the army =/= being a marksman. I know, I'm a soldier and while I can hit a static target about 25 metres away five times out of four, it doesn't mean I can actually shoot someone. Third, your sign-up does not give a motivation for her to join the Holy Grail War, though I guess her wish would be something like, Iunno, 'eliminate all vampires'.
Next, the Servant. First, not having a personality section is a big nono — I don't think we want another Gil. Second, stats don't really get -s. Third, Archer doesn't get Riding as a Class Skill unless they're Double Summoned like Shapur. Fourth, EAM needs a rank. Fifth, there's not enough detail about her NPs. Look at other Servant profiles here to get an idea how much detail is required.

The only reason I gave Arjuna riding is because it seemed to be the only Class Skill that made sense.

Can still get Riding as a normal skill, but that's something that would be kind of rare.

Don't see why no personality = Gilgamesh. He very much has a personality, though it takes a bit of digging to get past the ego. [lol]

Now, a question for Ragna: are any of the following characters acceptable: True Assassin, Diarmuid al Duibhe, Cu Chulainn, Medea, Gilles de Rais, Medusa, EMIYA?

... I think I actually want to use about half of them, so, uh, yeah. Rest is just working out what is acceptable. XD

I actually talked to Ragna awhile ago about playing Gilles pre-Jeanne's death and he said it'd be good. Run him as a Saber or something—you wouldn't have a named, legendary sword, but wielding a sword that represents his commitment to Jeanne or something could work.

Sounds more like playing him properly summoned, rather than a messed up summon by a guy that doesn't know he's a magus and when the only class left to stick him in is Caster. On the other hand, most definitely not what I was thinking of doing; not as a first choice (since we have Jeanne as Ruler, things would get weird. Quickly).

Eye of the Mind does make up for a lot, even before UBW. But it's good to include as many possibilities as possible (note that I've listed every summonable Servant not already banned from Heaven's Fall 4 and 5 except for Zero Berserker, because he can curbstomp Saber if used properly). XD

Yup, the one summoned by Zouken and... beaten by Kirei, if I remember correctly.

  • @Morgiana: Now accepted.
  • @Francesca Moreau: Des was right and you do need to do some reading up on Fate because your character just will not work as is if you don't understand how the Nasuverse is different.
  • @Arjuna: Those stats are a big no for an Archer and the Noble Phantasms are unfinished? If you actually complete each profile, I'll be able to judge them accordingly.
  • @Meri Toivonen: Accepted.
  • @Gaius Valerius Catullus: Accepted.
  • @Raineh: I think the ones that would be okay are Medusa. True Assassin has heart instant death, Diarmuid has Mystic Face (which hasn't been allowed in most Fate R Ps I've run) Cu has INSTANT DEATH MURDER, Medea has Rule Breaker, Gille de Rais-pre JEANNU would be pretty sweet and EMIYA? Nope because UBW.

Dood... That shit is essential. You can't make heads or tails of the Nasuverse unless you've played the V Ns. Nasu's magic system is really freakin' complicated. Not to mention the fact that you'll be missing other critical information about the verse. Like how Dead Apostles (vampires) can dodge machine gun fire. They laugh at bullets.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial
