Not always love. It depends on the mental mood of the user. Of course it's more powerful during positive emotions but in the state Lucas is in now I doubt it's love really, considering he's on bad terms with the Masked Man, is filled with Metatron and almost died yesterday.
The four kids had rested up. Lucas still refused to talk to anyone.

And given what P. Porky is, I doubt it would ever be love at all.
Given Lucas' state, one wonders if he would even notice the sneaky wisp of darkness quietly creeping up to him. If the others are keeping watch on him, however, they might.
Ninten suddenly jumps up, scared out of his wits.
"What's wrong?"
"I feel a great power near us... one even more powerful than the one from yesterday!"
Ness and the Masked Man get up and run towards Lucas, who slowly gets up with a monotone expression on his face. It looked like his near death really did a number on him. While there were still three others, Lucas himself should hardly pose a challenge.
Ninten can sense power nearby with his powers. Also, if love weakens the king, what about hate?

I think that would not do much against him. He might even grow a bit stronger from it (although fear is the emotion he most craves), with happiness being his greatest weakness.
Ninten's apprehensions prove well-founded. As the wisps of Sombra converge on the location of the four boys, the sky begins to darken...
"The sky is darkening!"
The Masked Man unsheats his sword.
"I don't recall anyone being able to do that before! This might be our most powerful adversary yet..."
"Whoever it is, we won't lose without a fight!"
"..."
Lucas was glowing a faint gray.
He's here... for me...
Lucas takes out the gun given to him by Johnny. This gun fires a compressed PK Love. However, it has nothing to do with emotions so it's just a regular attack.

The King does not launch his attack just yet, trying to break the group's spirits completely and utterly before attacking. The darkness keeps thickening and becomes almost suffocating (in a metaphorical sense). Odds are the four could almost swear seeing silhouettes passing in the darkness, always people and things that they fear. And the more they fear, the more vivid those illusions will become.
In Lucas' case specifically, he should see the darkened silhouette of a certain boy with four clicking mechanical spider limbs at his back, flashing a psychotic grin as he slowly approaches him.
Actually, there is something Lucas fears even more. Something Pseudo Porky could never hope to succeed.
As the mist thickens they begin to see visions.
Ninten, seeing his family taken away and killed by Giegue, begins to yell with tears in his eyes. Even if he was the most stable out of the four, he was also the most childish and the easiest to influence.
Ness sees the true form of Giygas floating before him, having killed his friends and destroying the world. He gets tears in his eyes as his fear paralyzes him.
The Masked Man sees the death of his and Lucas' mother by the Mecha Drago and the Dark Dragon destroying everything. He was brainwahsed when it happened, but he had seen it. Only now could he see the true terror of what Porky had made him do. He shivered and fell on the floor, crying and feeling so much guilt it could crush him.
But out of all of them... Lucas got the worst.
First he saw his family, all happy. But then the disaster with the Mecha Drago happens and his brother goes missing. His father leaves him behind and he goes on a search himself... one that ends only in pain and despair. He sees the vision of Claus's mind... the visions he had almost killed Giygas for... Claus's soul... and the one who caused it all... Porky...
Breaking out of his monotone self he screams loudly, holding his hands on his head due to the pain inflicted by the experience. Reliving the horror... it was almost too much for him. The king should be able to feel the fear Lucas experienced... it was almost killing the poor boy.
But then that fear fades... and something else takes its place.
Anger...
Vengeance...
Power...
Lucas breaks out of it and glows brightly.
"PK Love!"
An explosive wave emits from him and covers the entire room, trying to destroy the darkness.
Hate based PK Love. Dunno what kind of effect it'll have so you decide.

If only P. Porky had been around. Or is he tracking the King right now?
Even though Sombra is resistant to negative emotions, the sheer brute force of this attack manages to blast away the dark mist - leaving only the King himself standing before the group. He seems to be impressed, but not severely damaged, if at all.
You did manage to stop him from breaking the group, so you can still count that as a success.
"Hahahaha... An impressive display. And to think he said you could not use this attack in your current state. I guess he does not know everything about you."
Pseudo Porky is busy with... something else.
While the others slowly recover from their visions, Lucas glares.
"Who doesn't know what about me!? And who are you!? Was it you who showed me those things!? The things that destroyed me!?"
He begins to glow again. He was way more agressive than usual.

"This move of yours is quite inaccurately named, is it not?" Sombra smirks. "So much for 'love'. I have never seen more hatred in my life, and trust me, I have seen my share." He does not seem too inclined to answer any of Lucas' questions, perhaps to invoke the fact that the unknown is scarier, or perhaps because he has decided not to fall into the trap of revealing one's whole plan.
As he speaks, he slowly advances on the group, seeming to treat victory as a foregone conclusion. In truth, he never does - underestimating the enemy takes down many would-be tyrants. But he knows that the enemy will fear him more if they perceive him as an unstoppable force rather than an opponent that can be fought back against.
The others, at least back to their senses, see him coming.
"W-who is that?"
"H-he must be the one who showed us those visions... he's powerful, visions shouldn't affect us at all. But his got through without a problem..."
The Masked Man glares.
"I don't c-care... I-I won't let him harm Lucas...", he says, a sound of fear in his voice.
Lucas looks a bit saddened.
"Love has failed me too many times... it gets me nowhere. Hate powers me up just as much. And I have more hate than love inside of me! Besides, I didn't name that move, it was... a friend of mine who has since passed away."
He shakes his head.
"I don't care anymore. I don't care about Porky, about them, about you. I care for one thing only and if you want to know you'll have to pry the answer out of my cold, dead body! Now be quiet and do what you came here for!"
Lucas knew why the king was here. The same reason he almost died yesterday. He sought Lucas' death. But he was no longer going to run.
His glow grows bigger.
"Or I will kill you first!"
How ironic that the crybaby of the group is the only one without fear at the moment.

King Sombra slowly licks his lips in anticipation as he advances on Lucas. This time, instead of using his scythe from before he pulls out a giant greatsword from the ground, wielding it via telekinesis as usual. Like every other weapon of the King, the sword is made of jet black crystal.
Think of Guts' Dragonslayer in terms of visual reference for this sword
The others, still influenced by fear, take a defensive stance. Lucas, however, walks towards the king, taking the offensive.
"If I'm going to die... I'll die in battle!"
Lucas fires the charged attack, which was PK Love Ω. For some reason it didn't explode in his face this time, actually heading for the king.
While this is the Masked Man's theme, just imagine this while battling Lucas in his mental state.

I assume that's another hate-fuelled one?
Sombra raises his sword to block, and despite his affinity to hatred ends up sliding backwards from the power of the attack. He then slams his greatsword against the ground with earth-shattering force, sending a shockwave towards Lucas. It's not just any regular shockwave, though - as the earth crumbles in its wake, spiky black crystals emerge to impale anyone unfortunate enough to fail to get out of the way.

Just assume that, as long as his voice is in the 'evil' color, all of his attacks are hate filled.
Lucas recovers from using PK Love fairly quickly and jumps up in the air to dodge, casting PK Shield underneath him to block the crystals. He lands on the ground and sends a PK Flash the king's way.
Meanwhile, the Masked Man snaps out of it and picks up the other two, flying in the air to avoid the attack.
Lucas ain't holding back no more.

Ironically, if it were not for that, he would have forced Sombra to flee within seconds. As it is now, he can count himself lucky he's not making him stronger.
The PK Flash hits and Sombra starts feeling a bit strange. He slams his sword against the ground again in an attempt to strike Lucas with a crystal from underground, but somehow accidentally impales himself. He roars and tries to shake off the weird sensation that is making him confused.
Indeed, but just imagine he was going up against anyone but King Sombra... Beware the Nice Ones personified.
Lucas casts PK Offense Up to increase his power. But this does make him even more agressive. The Metatron was finally taking effect. However, since the glow didn't change, the others didn't realize it.
"There's no way he can win on his own! We've gotta help!"
The Masked Man, still flying, makes a symbol in the air and a bolt of Lightning is headed for the king. Ness drops to the ground and casts PK Rockin' which, while also a bit fed by emotions, it was mostly raw power.
Ninten, not having offensive PSI, tries to cast Brainshock instead while still hanging onto the Masked Man. Tricky to hit, but if it does, King Sombra would no longer be able to concentrate.

The lightning bolt successfully hits, but it alerts Sombra to the fact that his other enemies have started taking action. Before the Rockin' or the Brainshock reach, he seems to liquefy himself and sinks into the ground.
A trail of darkness starts heading for Lucas, sharp crystals rising out of the earth in its wake. If it reaches Lucas, a gigantic crystal spire will try to impale him.
Lucas, having powered up, sees Sombra coming but doesn't do anything. He just grins with confidence. Was he up to something?
"I've gotta get him out of there!"
Ninten casts 4th-D Slip and vanishes, trying his best to get to Lucas before Sombra does. But the 4th-D Slip takes time to perform and Sombra was fast...

The rumble of the rising black crystals sounds like the agonizing screams of the earth itself as Sombra's dark essence slithers towards his victim, going for the kill. Given that Lucas is no longer afraid of him, Sombra is no longer in the mood for games either. Of course the King realizes Lucas must be up to something, but he figures that whatever it may be, it's worth the chance to strike him down in one fell swoop.
As the crystals near him Lucas casts some kind of shield which envelops around him, covering him completely. However, it's different from PK Shield, and it's not Magnet either... What did he cast? And why was he so certain it would protect him?
It's PK Counter. If Lucas' plan works the spire will be countered back into Sombra. Which means double the damage Lucas gets will go to Sombra, which is basically instant death for the both of them, and Sombra can't bring Lucas to Pseudo Porky if they both die and respawn at the same time. If Sombra figures it out it's best to stop the attack, or at least change it so it'll merely wound the both of them.

The enemy's unflinching serenity in the face of impending doom fazes the evil king, and he slows down his inexorable march, trying to wait out the mysterious shield and figuring that Lucas is doomed anyways the second it falls. However, he is not aware that Ninten is about to 4D Slip Lucas out of his line of fire.
Lucas grins.
"What's the matter? Scared of my shield? You don't trust me? Tell you what, even with this shield, if you hit me, I'll die. Isn't that what you-"
Interrupting Lucas, Ninten appears and grabs him. They vanish.
They didn't flee, they'll reappear closer to Ness next post.
