As far as I can tell, the point is to get the crowd excited for the game, which in turn creates excitement for the teams.

The craziest thing is, we now think of cheerleading as exclusively a girl activity, but until 1923, women weren't even allowed to be cheerleaders. Now, male cheerleaders are a tiny minority in the sport.

See, I want sportsball to be more like the Beautiful Game, where songs and chants are spontaneous, and we don't need cheerleaders. Where one moment, we could be bored out of our minds and the next we could all be singing about a random dude in the stands eating pie or "Let's pretend we've scored a goal!"

What does that have to do with Dashie? Very little. But in that world, such a cheerleading role wouldn't be necessary and thus we'd have had a different episode. Not what I'm advocating, but what would a good alternative episode be?

Reminds me of a pre-EQG thought I had of, I don’t know, Twilight or somepony coming to our world, and the obligatory human guide/deuteragonist gets weirded out by a mention of Equestrian Crowd Songs because humans don’t just spontaneously drop what they’re doing to sing with strangers...

...and then “We Will Rock You” comes on and the inevitable happens. Might not even be at a sports game, either, maybe they’re just in a mall or something.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.

Cheerleaders have always seemed pointless to me, but then again, so have sports.

Actually, people sometimes do spontaneously burst into song. I've seen (or rather, heard) it happen several times in my time at university. It's most likely the theatre crowd, but still, it's amazing when you come across it, and they always get applause.

Still, you don't have the giant choreographed dance routines unless it's a rehearsed act.

Yeah, at least the original movie had just the girls doing the choreographed dance while everyone else in the cafeteria song scene just did their own thing.

Since things seem a bit quiet, here's some more AI generated posts.

ohai :D Desert PS gain a spot.

I don't care what that means, but I DID find it uniquito sex. I know, that's what I thought, his only appearance I listed etc.

I think we all would be able to type just from working on another channel. As far as the codelengto officially classify her could afford a username that way." "That's more wrong." Still, I cannot be unable to sacrifice me.

Heh. They're getting back d was the very last episode that I thought was going to bring in a stuffed version of his Star Swirl manga. Also Big Mac and Shining Armor have hooves laws sooner or later.

What? they're not incredibly messed up.

Jim said he's still gonna be at Pony Ciderfest. He says that at that time, if there are any questions left, it would be easier to ask them there face to face than over Twitter. I think we've asked most of them, but if there are any left, any of us who head over for the convention and see him can ask. The only question I can think of is, again, if Discord's comment about the trio really meant anything, and I don't want to get annoying with repeating that, so I'll just say if there's anything else left, those questions can also be asked there. BTW, Holiday Wrap-up airs November 2nd.

Question for you guys. I'm struggling to remember, I want to say this happened all last season, but aren't there tunnels under the the Friendship School that lead straight to the Tree of Harmony's old cave? I want to say they were a plot point or something in one of the episodes involving the Student 6, maybe that one where they got trapped down there with each others' fears or something.

Not directly to the Tree of Harmony, but the tree's roots did get to the point where they were under the school. The tunnels were already there.

The roots did grow to the school, but it was never shown how far the tunnels ran.

Also, it is never made clear who or what made those tunnels, or who built that school for that matter. The weird thing is that there seems to be a drainage gate straight into the tunnels, yet no one seems to have known about them until the student six stumbled across them.

Not to mention how no one noticed the cave that was RIGHT under the library. That would seem to be very hard to miss.

I think in the end the writers just came up with this cool idea of caves right under the school, without really thinking through (or caring about) the implications very much. It's just One Of Those Things that doesn't really have an in-universe explanation, and is just there because the writer wanted it to be there.

The Student 6 mention that they don't think anyone knows the tunnels are down there. Yeah, they wouldn't really know that, but since it's never contradicted I think it's a line you're supposed to take at face value.

So yeah, the tree dug the caves, which is a manifestation of its expanding powers.

It seems odd to me that, after the student six find the Slightly Evil Tree Horse under the school, Twilight and the others don't really try to interact with it. It's one of those things, along with the Crystal Treehouse thing, that feels like it was left unfinished. We never even got to see the inside of that Treehouse, either.

I like to imagine that Scoots borrows Silverstream's pearl fragment every now and then.
