So I just looked up No Mercy Sans, the super extra difficult bonus boss in Undertale. Dear God does it look hard.

Starting the next episode, Do Sheep Dream of Electric Princesses. Or something.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone worried that their dreams were too happy. Though now that I think of it, I wonder, who dreamwatches the dreamwatcher? Something tells me I'm about to find out.

...Interesting. For some reason, everyone looks like they haven't slept a wink. Well, except Pinkie. Must be all the sugar.

So, it looks like Luna's the host to some sort of dream monster that gives her nightmares in exchange for leaving everyone else alone. Did something of Nightmare Moon survive being purged by the Elements? Also, I can't tell what this thing's name is. Tantibos? Tantalus? Tantevas?

Tantabus.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

Wait, if you dream of someone else, then the Tanterboos can infect them, too? Luna must have absolutely amazing control over her own dreams to have confined it this long, though one wonders why she lapsed now.

Also, Luna really should not have told them that. That's about like telling someone not to think of pink elephants.

EDIT: ...Big Mac's going to have questions to answer in the morning.

EDIT AGAIN: Just finished. So, did Luna deliberately create this thing just to punish herself? Because her self-pity aside, that was pretty darned stupid of her. Though if it was simply born of her guilt, that's a bit more understandable, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Also, that last dream fight scene with everyone contributing was pretty epic. My favorite has to be Filthy Rich and his whole BY THE POWER OF MONEY thing he had going. [lol]

Well, thing about guilt is that it usually comes with self-loathing. Which is usually followed up with some measure of irrational self-punishment. And when you have alicorn powers, you apparently get things like the Tantabus.

The thing is, did she really have to create something that could infect the dreams of others? I mean, she created the thing, it probably had to be designed that way.

I don't want to sound completely heartless, because even if the Tan Tilius wasn't capable of escaping into other dreams, she would have been suffering needlessly until someone convinced her to let go of her guilt. It's just that her idea of penance was analogous to leashing a feral gorilla and bringing it to a crowded place, then reasoning that so long as you keep a good hold on it then it will only bother you and no one else. Well, yeah, but it also wouldn't be a danger to anyone if you didn't bring a feral gorilla there.

It says in the episode that Tantibus was never supposed to be able to escape her dream.

Yeah, it was never meant to be able to escape from her dreams. She never thought it could grow powerful enough to slip away and effect others.

I must have missed that. That makes things a bit more understandable.

Post of the Day #1234

One funny thing the Everfree review brought up was "Why does Canterlot Castle have doorknobs?"

Well, round doorknobs more suited for hands anyways.

The doorknobs were designed by the unicorns for whatever reason and the Princesses kept it for various reasons (like budget lol)

clearly equestria is set in a post-apocalyptic human world, hence why many things such as mannerisms, technologies, and even simple objects that make no sense for ponies are still found within the universe.

I wonder if "Naruto is post-apocalyptic" is still a popular theory?

[up] (hugs) Hurray!

I wanted to like that episode, and objectively it's great, but the Luna self-pity thing was done to the point of feeling narmy to me, and all the dream visuals couldn't do anything for me.

So, glad you guys liked it, I guess.

Speaking of videogames...

Final Fantasy 6: It occured to me that this secret passage isn't very secret if the guards now about it and are using it to hold prisoners.

Apparently Celes can do magic too. She also has something called Runic which I can't select.

Now I can cast Runic. It doesn't appear to do anything though. Probably increases your stats or something. Also, it's a shame that Celes's magic is much weaker than Terra's.

Decided to try the menu to see if I could speed up battles. In addition to increasing battle speed, there's also a shortcut command option. I also noticed the Bestiary. It's like a darker take on the Pokedex. Gotta kill em' all!

Two staircases going out. I tried to go to the lower one, but couldn't figure out anyway to get through.

Locke: You remind me a lot of someone... Edgar. Must be the hair.

Finally out of South Figaro. Time to check up on Sabin's Cabin (hey that rhymes!).

The start menu still calls it Duncan's Cabin. I guess it doesn't know about the will.

"This town's under imperial occupation" - Says the guard standing in front of a cave. Ooookaay then.

Pretty sure these enemies are harder than the ones when I came through this area before.

Good thing I can fast forward on the emulator while waiting for the ATB gauges.

Ok, so Runic has something to do with drawing magic? I still have no idea what that does.

And now Tunnel Monster X just did some green thing that one shotted Celes. Uhoh.

The party has fallen... Ok that was totally unfair. Guess I'll just have to grind some more?

For some reason ingame savepoints don't seem to do anything when you TPKO. It just goes back to the start menu and the only option is "new game". Luckily I savestated at Sabin's Cabin so I don't have to do the whole thing over.

It just occured to me that grinding is harder when you don't have any place to rest.

I'm too impatient to grind anyway. Have at you!

I'll try spamming Runic every round this time to see if it makes a difference.

Oh now I get it. Not only does it make the magic hit her, it also makes it do barely any damage.

And now I'm back to the choose scenario screen, with Locke vanished. Darn, I was hoping he would at least make it to Narshe.

On the start menu, my party is apparently Mog the Moogle. I wonder if there's anything intersting I can do with him.

Oh well, guess this is a good stopping point.

@Yeller: Cele's Runic ability is a skill that lets her use certain swords to absorb some magic attacks and turn them into MP to fuel her spells.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!

She gets MP back that way too? That would have been useful to know.

The problem of course is knowing which enemies use magic.
