Over three months ago, the visual novel work in question has been flagged on the Content Violation Reports, with the reason for it being, "Eroge, can't find any info on all-ages versions, does not seem to have been looked at before. May have escaped initial review as it was not on an index." Going by the page for the work, the general summary is as followed:

Divi-dead is a Japanese-translated-to English 2D eroge released by C's Ware in 1998. The game falls into the category of adult horror, as it deals with supernatural and sexual topics. Some images from the game are brutally violent and strange, while others are lighthearted and erotic. It is a visual novel that involves a supernatural mystery which the protagonist must solve in order to complete the game. There are several endings offered based on the decisions you make throughout, but the clues on where you should go are few, vague, and far between. Along with True Love '95, Divi-Dead is often credited for being one of the games to start the interest in ero-games outside of Japan.

Although I initially gave it a devilhead, I have since recanted it, feeling that I have not given the work a proper judgment. If anyone here has important information in regards to the work that we should know, please feel free to bring it up here.

What should we do with this work?

From other sites that I am not linking because of NSFW issues, it seems that it's not mostly pornographic.

Based on what I have seen so far, there's nothing to disagree with that, although I'm not too far int. Meeble made some remarks that concern me somewhere in the other thread.

This was part of the post I think you're referring too, goodrich.

I was hoping I would be able to see enough of the game to make a decision this weekend, but at this point I'm thinking I may have to play it through to the end to make a proper decision. The first day of my review seemed pretty tame, with only one or two porn-related scenes amongst several hours of gameplay. Based on that I was leaning "Not Porn", but then in my second day of reviewing it the game basically became "walk over to this building, sex scene, leave to go to another building, sex scene. Couple of scenes of dialog leading to a sex scene. Character goes home and falls asleep, during which there is a sex scene." If the tone of the game continues in that direction, the devil-head option will seem more appropriate.

Unfortunately, I really haven't had a lot of time to delve more than a few scenes deeper from that point, so I'm not sure if the amount of sex scenes continue like that or slack off again. According to the completion percentage I'm somewhere between 25 and 35% through the game (IIRC, though I'm not sure how accurate that is given the other issues I mentioned with playing it on Flash), so I've got a ways to go before I've seen enough to make up my mind.

There's a Let's Play of it available on Broken Forum which cuts out the sex scenes; everyone involved is reading it solely for the plot. The game contains porn (terrible porn at that) but that's really not why anyone plays it, especially now. It's notable because it was the first eroge that came out in English that caused people to realise that these games could have plots, and sparked off story-based eroge fandom.

However, the plot is so strange and confusing (and badly translated) that it's hard to list off the appropriate tropes for a lot of the story.

It's been a couple years since I personally played this, but based on my admittedly hazy recollection I'd say it can stay if it's kept clean but other than it being the start of a genre's popularity I don't see the need for in-depth troping on this work.

This one seems to be resolved. Close?
