I made a joke in the reddit that Berdly would enjoy Genshin Impact and Fire Emblem heroes, but then Queen tells him she plays Candy Crush.

I think the King is bullshitting. This feels very similar to what the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga did with Bakura. After the initial stint of repulsive villainy, he’s probably buttering himself up to the protagonists and the player to make himself seem falsely reformed. There might eventually be a critical moment when we can either trust him or call his bluff. Not to mention, we have already seen the King lie once before in the same manner, so it’s hardly new of him to do.

Yeah. I mean these games show us to believe in the best but the King has proven himself to be a liar and an assface so this one time I can let players slide for being on guard around him.

I just find it weird that the King's still the only character in both games to be an unrepentant piece of shit.

Maybe the King will be the Knights Dragon later down the line, now wanting revenge on the Darkeners as well, like he hints at the end of chapter 1, saying he'll kill them all

Personally I hope for it because if it's really true then it kinda messes up what made the King such a great charachter, he was a great and unique villain precisely because he's an unrepentant POS who spits on redeeming features

Unfortunately, you can only fight Jevil in chapter 1. Chapter 2 has an entirely different secret boss.

Basically once you're done with a chapter, you can't go back to that chapter's dark world. Sealing the fountain destroys the world, but by recruiting the NP Cs you're saving the citizens.

I think talking to Seam does at least let you pick up the stuff you woulda gotten from Jevil tho.

if you reboot your chapter 1 save the game lets you fool around and explore and battle Jevil, IIRC. And if you go back to chapter 2 after that, the game acknowledges it.

I dont think king spade is bullshitting this time around, if you see his dialogue nearly everything he does is because spite for being abandoned by lighterns and given he refuse at time to talk to you and still thing you will gloat about it is clear he is still antagonist to you

Also I will said king spade is probably a foil to kris a this rate since is getting clear he have pretty issues with his brother.

With all the dialogue options and gift giving, one wonders if Deltarune will have a romance option or if it’s like Undertale and it’s all set.

Personally I’m leaning towards our choices won’t matter.

A lot of people REALLY want Susie, which concerns me as she's still in school and is likely still about 16 or 17 or so. I mean if its goofy stuff sure. I'm not expecting Mass Effect stuff.

I feel like The thing with the King was a mistake, as now I've seen people argue that he was never abusive to Lancer in Chapter 1 to defend it

The fact that Lancer was willing to attack and overthrow his own father proves how strained their relationship truly is. Even if the threat was empty, the fact that even Lancer himself bought it is very telling.

Hell, on further analysis, King telling Queen to bounce Lancer if he gets upset...I have a feeling that's just one of his abuse tactics. Hopefully Queen doesn't buy it.

@ Unknowing: The King asking if the heroes were there to mock him was the first thing he said. He only brought up Lancer's wellbeing once it was clearer they weren't. That could show that once he confirmed their intentions, he could start acting the part.

I wonder if Toby intended to cause this much debate over one character.

Because he think the lighters are the enemy which reinforce my position, the guy is pretty much enterely bitter about the situation, and if he want to manipulate he woundt just shut the conversation with a "I refuse to talk to you", king spade is more a stuborn douche who while caring to joker to some point is letting his hatred get th ebest of him.

Kinda feels like people skipped the part where he would imprison people for inane reasons and was so bad the entire kingdom had a revolt in the pacifist route just because Kris was nice to them and all and they didnt want to deal with the King anymore.

@Satoshi That was actually an idea I had Sense Queen rejects his suggestion to bounce Lancer, it may not be something that actually helped him and instead the King was just pulling an elaborate way to be a dick

In spite of claiming that his motivations are for the Darkners as a whole, King is perfectly fine with tormenting other Darkners. He didn't even try to appeal to Ralsei at all. He fought him on the outset and then tricked him into healing him before taking him out. He's not just an asshole, he's a sadist.

I'd imagine that the Leather Pantsing of King existed well before this, and that Chapter 2 just brought it up front. I wouldn't be surprised if Toby introduced this subplot to mock the Leather Pantsers.
