In German, Mickey's nephews are call Mack and Muck (Donald's are called Tick, Trick and Track). And Goofy as one too, called Alphonso, though his doesn't live with him.

Honestly, the Ducks and the Mouse have really a LOT of bad luck. So many orphaned nephews and nieces. tongue Max should take really good care of his father.

Well, Mortie and Ferdy's mother (Mickey's sister) is still alive and well according to some comic stories. So it's really just Donald's family that has bad luck.

I honestly didn't really mind Daisy's characterization in Legend of the Three Caballeros... I mean, yeah, it wasn't particularly progressive, but I don't think she needs to be revamped into a more positive character when she's no longer being saddled with representing all of womankind. Lot 3 C had other, more likeable and competent female characters in the main cast to balance things so I thought in that context Daisy's personality came off more as a legit characterization rather than just a stereotype.

Well, the way I see it, something about the Status Quo has got to change with Daisy in order for something to give.

While I'm willing to give the new Ducktales a chance with Daisy (a character which they will most likely do), I can understand people's reservations when it comes to how the show does its characterization and development.

If I were to put in my own 2 cents, play the relationship between Don and Daisy down to earth and just plain loving. Move away from the Spiderman/MJ dynamic that they usually do with those two and have them tie the knot, or at least make significant progress with their romance.

[up][up] Her characterization in Legends just made me wish Donald would realize how awful she was being to him, honestly.

Daisy in the Comics is actually quite likable...mostly because at the end of the day, she keeps choosing Donald over Gustav (not sure how he is called in Englisch, I mean Donalds rival who has always luck) and is only angry with Donald when his temper of jealously gets the better of him. And the stories which actually feature her as a main character are often about her having some sort of project or business. So maybe they should look there for inspiration.

Speaking of Disney nieces and nephews, Goofy has a nephew in the comics called Gilbert Goof. He's been kind of phased out now that canonically Goofy is a father. However, I think Gilbert could still fit because he could act as a foil to Max. I am surprised Goof Troop didn't have him as a regular extra, who would show up time to time at the Goof household. I could see Max using him to help him with his homework or some hairbrained scheme.

[up][up] Normally I cringe at "wrong" English spelling. But Englisch is oddly cute and endearing of mistake.

[up][up] Ah, I think that is who I meant with "Alphons".

It's sometimes really hard to match up all the side characters correctly.

Regarding Morty and Ferdie: they're largely a comics thing and largely had their day in the 30s. By the 50s they were down to one, I believe, and in the end they were pushed out entirely.

[up](x4) Max is technically a Canon Immigrant but Disney doesn't use him nearly as much as you'd assume. He barely ever appears in kid or adult form.

Well the reason why you don't see Max that much as a kid anymore is mainly because Dana Hill his voice actor for Goof Troop when he was a kid, actually died. So Disney realised they couldn't have him as a kid anymore because that probably would mean they would have to get more kid actors to play him or get another female voice actress to mimic Dana's performance so they cut the middle man out and just permanently made him a teenager the next time you see him in The Goofy Movie.

Oh...that is sad.

But eventually they will have to look for new voice actors for all their characters anyway. Question is if they have any plans for Max in the future

Dana Hill died after A Goofy Movie came out, actually.

I swear child Max Goof was in something after she died, and they got another actress to voice him. Not Jason Marsden.

I know they used Kid!Max in a wraparound in The Spirit of Mickey in 1998, and it was someone imitating Dana's performance.

It was kind of weird because if I remember correctly, he had his teenaged design there (since it was repurposed footage from A Goofy Movie) while speaking in his kid voice.

EDIT: Oh, hey, there's a clip on YouTube:

Kid Max was also in Once Upon A Christmas too, yeah. There was the short about Santa Claus.

I wish they put Max in more projects. He seemed to be really prevalent in the 90's and 2000's. I just love him too much as a character. I also think Gilbert could be there too.

I don't they don't use Max because they'd need a new actress. The other characters change actors and actresses all the time. I'm pretty sure they just don't like using him. Chaste Toons, maybe? They don't want to pin Goofy as middle aged?

[up]. I think another reason Max has been mostly dropped, is that Disney also seems to be moving away from the more down to earth, everyman interpretations of their characters, in favor of the the broader and more comedic style of the current shorts.

I mean, do you really see this guy being a dad?

[up]There isn't really a lot of stuff besides the shorts using the main Disney cast right now, besides Roadster Racers which is more a gimmicky pre-school show. Donald's getting heaps of shows (to the point his actor has had to actually call in a substitute for some of them) but Mickey and Goofy aren't getting a lot of spotlight using the more sentimental outlook. When they want to make another heartwarming Goofy project I suspect Max will be their first choice for subject matter.

There is also a really great one which contrasts Micky and Minnie's with Donald and Daisy's relationship. Might be my fav.

[up] here you go

A fun Easter Egg here is that I’m pretty sure the street they walk down at the beginning, is modeled on Disneyland’s Main Street USA. (Or at least looks a heck of a lot like it.)
