I guess this is the moment to explain again that in Europe, "prince" doesn't necessarily mean "son of the king". He could be the land lord of the village, but even if he was, that doesn't necessarily mean that he had a lot of contact with it. In any case, it's not really important. It is a fairy tale after all.
What I mean is, even if he isn't the son of the king, he's clearly nobility and clearly lives close enough to the village that you'd think somebody would find it odd such an important person just disappeared one day.
It's not that close. Not for the time back then. Maurice has to travel quite a bit and then has to take the wrong way to even end there. Most people back then never left their village at all.
Some people mention since this was around the time the Beast Of GĂ©vaudan was active, so this would further play into their hysteria.
Sneak Peek at 101 Dalmations Street that will premier on Disney Channel this Fall.
.......... this takes place in the present day doesn't it? I ask because of the apparent selfie that one pup is taking, complete with duck lips.
Don't some of the villagers appear in the crowd at the ball at the end of the movie? Apparently, Belle and the Prince were comfortable with inviting them to a party.
I don't think so.
Yeah 101 Dalmatian Street will take place in 21st century London. Also turned out the series will premier in 2019.

Also previews of 101 Dalmation Street was praised at the Annecy film festival and the Bridging the Gap Animation Lab event.
Didn't the previous series get moved to present day as well (just with more subtlety)?

Yes, but I don't think that version took place in London.
Out of curiosity, how well has Christopher Robin done so far?
I kinda hope the movie might bring back Disney's faith in Pooh, who we haven't seen much of since the 2011 movie bombed. Hell with all the 80s revivals, another series in the style of New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh would be awesome.

It's gotten about 115 million dollars for a 75 million dollar budget, so I think that's considered a decent success.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. It got seriously hampered by not being allowed to be shown in China. That's not enough. They need to do double of the budget to break even.

I don't particularly mind 101 Dalmatian works being in present day. The original film was contemporary 60s, the tv series was contemporary 90s, and the new one is contemporary 2010s... I just wish Disney would use Lady and the Tramp or The Aristocats for once. Isn't Marie big in Japan? You'd think she'd have a cartoon.
From what I heard an Aristocats sequel and TV series was planned before Disney put the kibosh on the DTV milking.
Based on how easy you get Aristocats dolls in Paris, I guess they are very popular in France, too.
After 40 years, Don Bluth came back to the visit the Disney animation studio last month. It must have been such a nostalgic thing for him.
I hope once Disney's upcoming Streaming Service is up late next year. Disney might finally revive The Aristocats animated series idea. Disney even made books starring Marie in the past.

Wow, I didn't even know he was still alive, actually.
I wonder if this had some serious background...he was collecting money for a movie project, right? If he really manages to finish, he will need a distributor. And, well, Fox will soon be owned by Disney.
Or maybe he wants to visit his old workplace, because who knows how much time he has on this earth. I wonder if Disney will ever acknowledge Bluth as a legend, because I think despite making a brand for himself he still could be recognized for actually being one of the people who helped revive them.
The Aristocats aren't near as popular in animation or merch as 101 Dalmnations is, but you could argue that's Disney's fault to begin with.
> I really wonder just WHAT the villagers thought happened to the Prince, who would presumably be their lord-of-liege.
They probably assumed he was out of the country and quite happy not to see him as he's the one they pay their taxes to and rent the land off
New theme music also a box
