So how many of you realized that episodes 12-13 were basically a reteling of the second OVA?

Requires remembering the 2nd OVA...

Personally I feel there are a lot of good things to remember in OVA 2

The Enchanted Parade was very good but it's been a long time since I've seen it.

Remembering good things is just as troublesome as remembering negative things.

The second OVA wasn't very good whereas episodes twelve and thirteen were so I'm not sure I'd consider twelve and thirteen a retelling of it.

Not strictly a retelling, but a very similar arc - Red Team is put on a punishment (or just lousy) detail for a ceremony and Akko tries to turn it into a spectacle. Her friends don't go along with it at first, but are touched by her earnestness and relent. In the end, the three of them are able to help the monstrous entity that the ceremony is centered on.

The biggest difference might be culpability. In the OVA it was all about the witch trials (a horrible thing the muggles did to the witches), while episodes 12-13 were just about a random tragedy that became part of tradition somehow. Related, Diana was actively looking into stopping the tradition in the OVA, but not in episodes 12-13.

I think. It's been a while. And our recap pages are terrible, so they're no help.

As I recall it wasn't so much "random tragedy became tradition somehow" as "necrovore appeases the giant pissy ghost, so take one for the team."

The 4 Nendoroids from this series are really good quality, and I got 2 of them, and the third one, Lotte, is already in shipment. I do wanna make an environment based on their academy dorm room.

Also of note, the ceremony in the series was supposed to be seen as old and boring, and it was Akko's team who made it exciting to watch. ... also she consoled the whiney spirit so it wouldn't have to annoy everyone from that point on.

Yeah it comes with it. ..... still doesn't quite get the reason.

They are all adorable and will murder my wallet.

The Diana Nendoroid was what compelled them to rerelease the Akko one, which makes sense.

I'm so happy I'm not a collector. I need money for living, and I'm compulsive enough that if I bought one of those things I would buy ALL of them.

Random bump because I got bored and remembered this post, so I decided to actually see how much of the LWA fandom is Daikko shippery. I couldn't figure out a way to check fan art on Tumblr and so on, but fanfiction is easy. Of the 598 fics on fanfiction.net, 367 are Daikko (61.3%). Of the 784 fics on Ao3, 489 are Daikko (62.3%). I kinda want to check the statistics of the ratings, but those are so inconsistent it's not worth it.

So. If anyone cares, that's a thing you know now.

Everything on AO 3 by Silver Supa is some good quality stuff.

I love their fic about Akko and Andrew being bros.

That's a good use for your Andrew.

I expected to hate Andrew because he kinda felt like a character shoved in to remind us that the protagonist is totes hetero guys, but he wasn't so bad. And yes, using him as a bro to Akko is a good solution instead of going all Ron the Death Eater.

I read a bunch of LWA fic^note read as diakko fic when I first finished the show and funnily enough I saw very very little Death Eater-ing of Andrew.

Which is good, because I too really enjoyed his character in the series.

Apparently Andrew was originally intended to be Akko's love interest but partway through the writers realized that it would be bad for her character arc

I still resent Andrew for taking up time that could have been spent on other sorely underused characters and for being one of Akko's big successes at winning someone over when she should have had a moment like that with some of the faculty that still considers her a useless dumbass and also I think her big convincing of a muggle would have been better for a townsperson rather than some upper class asshole

But him being a bro for Akko is better a use than many
