No personal attacks, please.
Check out my fanfiction!I haven't. I'm just saying that it's just ridiculous and hard to take seriously.

Watch SymphogearAnd that I'm a jerk. Which is fine. Perhaps I am. And you're certainly correct that I'm exaggerating for rhetorical effect.
Anyway, serious mode: Does this show have any redeeming values? Does it get better, or at least find some personality?

Sometimes having to watch a few more episodes first is what is needed.
I didn't find it the best opening episode to an anime either but not so terrible that I want to kill myself and anyone else who thinks otherwise.
Watch SymphogearI get the feeling it's more of a romantic comedy than an action series, and that however it may be, the first episode isn't very indicative of how it will play out.
Check out my fanfiction! If you don't like the show don't post in the thread. There is a big internet full of people who like to kvetch about things, this is not one of those places.
If you feel that someone is complain trolling a thread holler for a mod.
Ok, from now we all love this show ❤❤.

Have I mentioned before what a masterpiece this show is? If it was a novel, I would probably place it up there with the works of Proust and Cooper. I strongly recommend it for everyone~!

Apparently the manga has been discontinued for health reasons of the artist. Not the light novel it's based on, though.
Reading the few chapters of the manga there are, I find Reine to be as hilarious as she was before. And Kotori as obnoxious, if not more.
As for the two other girls, I'm going to hold my opinion a bit. Nothing exactly original, but some funny moments.
Shido should really just ignore all the "advice" he's getting. As your standard loser protagonist, he's far better at dealing with people than people who claim to be good at it.
Check out my fanfiction!I encourage anybody with doubts about this series to read at least the first volume of the LN on Baka-Tsuki. The first three volumes, which is what the anime will cover based on the previews, are fully translated. IMHO, the LN does a better job of introducing the cast and general tone of the series than either the anime or the manga.
Another manga discontinued for health reasons? This seems to be a trend.
They're breathing in too much ink-fumes.
Check out my fanfiction!Clearly they should stop deciding serializations via pit fights.
Maybe my standards are just low, but I actually kinda liked the first episode. Granted I didn't think it was fantastic or anything, but it was passable. It was exactly what I was expecting it to be, because I didn't come into this thing expecting Kafka level writing. It's a romcom anime based off an LN. Typically that means it's at best a guilty pleasure (sort of like the relationship I have with To Aru).
In short, it was nothing to write home about, but it was good enough to be passable. Nothing special, but I will be watching the second episode.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI will admit that thanks to Aku No Hana, this is no longer the worst anime this season!
Episode 1: About as good as expected. Though the action scenes were better than I thought they would be.
I have to watch that one now just 'cause you said that.
Edit: ... Yeah.

Check out my fanfiction!I enjoyed the hell out of this. it was exactly whet i was expecting, so i'm certainly not dissapointed.
Now that I've seen the normal-quality version, my concerns about animation quality have been relieved. That said, I'm less happy with the introduction to the setting on a second watch. Waiting to see how this progresses.
Episode 2. In which the heroine is properly introduced.
Well, I've read the manga, and it's really not significantly different at all, pacing aside. Speaking of the pace, it's already up to somewhere in the last manga chapter. Pretty much all training was skipped. Which, Reine aside, isn't a loss.
I'm going to give a plus to the Emotionless Girl for not actually being that. She has emotions, but just displays them slightly more than Nagato. And she's deadpan. Sometimes funnily so.
Normally the protagonist is far too awkward to even come off as remotely realistic, but here he's actually got a good excuse. He's got a bridge full of people misleading him, training included. Him just being honest would've worked a whole lot better during their meeting. And that scene worked better than in the manga, since the contrast came off clearer.
Check out my fanfiction!So!
Maybe it's because I'm a closet masochist, maybe it's because I said I would, but for some reason I've gone and watched the second episode.
Aaaaand... it's not that bad.
The OP is great (but not outstanding); the comedy actually hits the mark more often than not; characterization hasn't suddenly become a strong point, but it's more bearable; the pacing is damn near perfect, amazingly enough.
Mind you, this still falls far short of a recommendation... but you could do worse. If you're considering picking it up, just skip the first episode. There's nothing there that you'll miss.
Putting like that doesn't make for a good debate and is such a huge exaggeration that it's baffling.
You can hate it, but doing it the way you're doing doesn't help at all.
