So, the rest of the seats have been revealed, I'll just post them along with the rest.

  • 1st: Soma
  • 2nd: Isshiki
  • 3rd: Kuga
  • 4th: Hayama
  • 5th: Ryo
  • 6th: Alice
  • 7th: Takumi
  • 8th: Eizan
  • 9th: Nene
  • 10th: Megumi

The three characters who did nothing in the RDC are higher than two who participated. That is hilarious

[up][up][up] The best part is that he ended up with a higher seat than what he started with.

oh and Dark Chef arc is happening.

Could've been worse, I guess. Takumi could have ended up with a seat lower than Eizan, despite beating him.

That definitely would have me calling bullshit. And I'm not even a fan of Takumi.

This supports the interpretation of the events I had - Takumi and Megumi got to RDC because they were lucky, not because they were better than the rest of first years.

[up] That'll teach her to take the room temperature into account!

Given that she's been derided as the (former) "Elite Ten's Megumi", it's somewhat fitting that Nene only outranks the actual Megumi. Because no one can out Megumi Megumi in terms of Megumi-ness.

Given how the current Shokugeki system works, they probably just won their way back into the E10 after getting kicked out of their seats. They're still around after all, and they deserve the seat better than the useless nobodies from the PSD or something.

[up]xx5 Now be fair. Takumi outranks two previous members of the Elite Ten. Including the one he beat. So he's already better off than Megumi.

Yakuzu: To be fair, it'd be hard to swallow than Takumi is better than Hayama.

Saiga: Well, people aren't supposed to decline challenges anymore. It's possible that they got kicked out and then just went up to small fry like... wait, wouldn't Subaru have merited the next spot? I don't think Subaru would lose to Eizan. Maybe he declined a seat?

Well, whatever, those two are better than any of the other first years besides Subaru and Nene might have already been better as well. I think being humiliated probably made Eizan start taking things seriously while Nene might have been encouraged to keep struggling by Isshiki. Like I guess it fits Eizan and Nene's character arcs but I'm still kind of dissatisfied that Subaru didn't make it in.

[up][up] It just reinforces that Alice and Ryo should have been in the RDC too. Or at least, show their defeats by Tsukasa or Rindou or something.

On Subaru, somebody else said it's understandable he wouldn't have a seat. His cooking relies on a gimmick and it's useless against a skilled chef or somebody who doesn't mentally break under his taunting. Neither Nene or Eizan seem like the type to fall for his gimmick, so I can't see him beating them.

That's underselling Subaru. He came very close to beating Somei despite being in a situation where his gimmick was near impossible to use effectively- I'm certain he would've won had he known in advance who he was gonna fight and didn't have to learn the entire friggren' recipe library of every Elite Ten member.

That still doesn't change my point, his gimmick is useless against chefs who are better than him. That's not saying he's bad, that's just pointing out a limitation in his style that I feel would hold him back from getting a spot.

...Well yeah, it's kinda hard to defeat someone that's better than you no matter who you are. That's what being better means. And it's still not useless. Like he almost did as well as the fifth seat whereas Takumi only beat the ninth and Megumi just passed a test the instructor didn't want her to fail.

Yes, but he still lost though regardless. And if your gimmick relies on copying people and then being better than them, wouldn't it stand to reason that his opponents would have to be equal to his skill level or below? And if that's the case, it wouldn't do a lot of good against someone who's skill is above his.

Eizan lost because he got fucking duped and once again, was too focused on trying to screw with his opponents and I think we all established that Megumi just had Plot Armor on her side.

Subaru's gimmick doesn't rely on him being better than his opponent, actually- he needs to be able to think of a way to improve on their dish, yeah, but that's not necessarily harder than putting in the effort of developing the dish from scratch. Which, by the way, is his main weakness as a chef, and how Souma managed to beat him- Subaru has no experience creating his own dishes, and therefore doesn't always have as strong an understanding of why things taste good.

And, like, Eizan lost because Takumi successfully provoked and predicted him. Doing those things to his opponent is a major part of Subaru's skill set, so it's hard to imagine Eizan coming out on top there. Although it's possible that Nene's level of technical skill level could've defeated him, because at that point his gimmick starts working against him- when both dishes are very similar, gaps in skill can be thrown into sharp relief, and at that point whatever improvements Subaru made could've been overwhelmed.

Eizan's gimmick is also attempting to screw with his opponent when he's serious as well, which failed because Takumi learned to be better at screwing with people than him and played him like a fiddle.

[up] Nene's technical skill only really helps her with her specialty, and all it takes is a change in the environment she never even realizes to factor in despite her proficiency at it, so I aouldn't be surprised if she got beaten by something as dumb as it being too hot or cold.

Also the whole dislikes Eizan so he can easily rile her up because her, Kuga, and Eizan can't stand each other.

[up][up] Soma noted that Subaru had to be exceptionally skilled to perfectly copy another's dish, and then simply think of an improvement. However, like you said, if his technical skill is lower than his opponent's then it stands to reason he can't beat them no matter how much improvement he makes to his traced dishes. Somei noted that he lost simply due to the skill gap between them.

[up] Look, I know shitting on Nene and Megumi is our thing but the former's loss was more to prove a point on Central's philosophy being flawed than a knock against her skill.

Does it suck? Absolutely, but like...she still was one of the top chefs regardless.

I was just pointing out the facts. Eizan would exploit a situation to his advantage while she'd be set in her ways even if it lead to failure.

Eizan was also more skilled than his rank in the Elite Ten suggested but his arrogance is always his downfall. Most of the time he just finds ways to use $$$ to solve his problems instead of cooking.

If I wanted to spiel on about Nene I'd have started screeching about Isshiki as well.
