I don't know how I got here, one minute I was going through Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon's trope page and now I'm here.
If anyone is stil here I guess I'll just introduce myself, my name is Ikcatcher and I'm a PMD fan and fanfic author. I'm currently writing a PSMD fanfic over at Fanfiction.net currently under the same username.
To stay "relevant" I suppose, I would like to ask people about something about Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon.
Does anyone just feel like there's something missing with the game's post game? Like I honestly felt like there would be something more to the post game, but it just wasn't there. If there was a post game, what do you think it would be about?

The post games outside of T/D/S have always felt a bit hollow. Really, I think that T/D/S's post-game kind of spoiled everyone when it comes to PMD post-game. T/D/S felt like two games in one, really.
Come to think of it, I've never played through a lot of the post game in Explorers. I should get on with it should I ever replay that game
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Yeah, PSMD's postgame is certainly lacking. It does have a lot of cool stuff I wanted to do, but it felt kind of walled behind a bunch of mundane stuff and I wasn't sure what I needed to do to get to the cool stuff, so I gave up.
Postgame of Explorers was literally a second storymode, which was awesome and fitting.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYeah, After You get your partner back, eveything is is just kind of...there. No real incentive to finish unless you want to be a completionist. Kind of sad really, would have loved more post game plot points.
I've been replaying Explorers of Sky lately. I remembered seriously tearing up at the end of the second Special Chapter with Igglybuff, and I wondered if it would happen again. A little shamefully, it did.
The events can be tear worthy on their own, writers did an excelent job in there; but the soundtrack seriously kicks the feelings up a notch.
So in SMD, you can rescue yourself through Pelipper Island, but sometimes the option doesn't come up if the team leader faints. And there wasn't anything that said rescues couldn't be made in the dungeon. So what determines if you get to rescue yourself?
It's been a while since I played it, but I believe you can't rescue yourself if you entered the dungeon as part of the main story.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I think I've rescued myself during a dungeon for the main story, but my memory is fuzzy on that for some reason. But I was on a regular expedition, and I wasn't given the option for a rescue.
RISE FROM YOUR GRAVES!

Defender of the weak, pooper of parties, fixer of typos and green links.I hope I can still be Cubone!
The Protomen enhanced my life. All available starters can be seen here◊, and yes, Cubone is amongst them.
Kinda disappointed they didn't add a few new ones, but ah well. Small potatoes.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Took the test. Got an Eevee. Making my partner Cubone to cover Rock and Steel types.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.It better include all of gen 1-3 with a few of the more popular mons from 4-8, but I doubt it.

Got chosen to be a Squirtle and chose Bulbasaur to cover my weaknesses. Demo's pretty short though. Only took me about an hour to beat and that was while exploring the entirety of every floor I arrived at when doing missions.
The game gave me psyduck, but i decided to relive my first ever pmd team as Rescue Team Steam with me as a charmander and my squirtle partner
They didn't have to have the random Machop, Cubone, Psyduck, and Skitty, but I'm glad they're here.
It's been 3000 years…This selection does remind me of the advantages of only having three Gen's of starter Pokemon to draw from.
Although I don't think it's that much effort for them to add in the 10-20 reaction images for each new Pokemon.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobPsyduck was considered to be the other Let's Go mascot before they decided on Eevee, so it isn't a random choice, but, yeah, the first games had the most out of left field choices.
Then again, as gens go by, starters dominate the panorama. TBH I'd enjoy if we got a wider selection; Marill and Zorua, for example, would likely be great as potential starters or partners.
Psyduck meowth and skitty are all anime related. Skitty was kinda popular at the time being May's cute mon and all. Psyduck comes off from misty, and meowth is well, meowth. Cubone and Machop are the bigger head scratchers.
Yaaaay! The first games are being remade! I am SO buying this when it comes out! I already got the demo. I chose to be Pikachu, and made my partner a Chikorita. I must say, I love the art style so far, especially for the backgrounds. It kinda makes the game look like a children's storybook.
I’m gonna be a Cubone for sure, but I’m not sure who my partner will be. If Explorers is made, I’m definitely recreating my team of Bulbasaur and Piplup.
It's been 3000 years…You Can Now Watch The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Anime Specials on Youtube
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.
I always interpreted that part as the player time-traveling after Mew wiped their memory, waking up near the waterfall, then Nuzleaf and co. are there, they fight, player loses, their memory gets re-wiped. (Though inevitably that last wiping ended up useless.)
Meanwhile, Mew/partner ended up a bit further in the past from that, so they get a chance to be adopted and live a few years with Carracosta before the player even comes into play.
