Well...yeah. SMT is kind of a mixture of post apocalypse and science fiction, depending on the series. Fire Emblem seems to be pretty straight fantasy, medieval fiction, or something. And most SMT titles are turn based RP Gs, but I think the Fire Emblem games are all SRP Gs right?
It just seems like such a weird fit.

Both are popular series in Japan from well regarded companions and they've had games that deal with Order vs. Chaos. They're also RP Gs in a way. It makes sense to me.
Fantasy and Scifi can't go together? I think franchises that mix those two generally turn out awesome.

The Persona 4 anime was a hit and Devil Survivor 2 was, I think, the newest SMT game at the time.

Well yeah, but they've got a whole backlog of games to choose from. Why not make a King Raidou anime, or a Nocturne anime?
For the record I'm not really against this crossover, I just don't get why people are excited about it.

This. Even if I don't know much about FE, I do know that Atlus is strong on quality. That makes me VERY hopeful for this game.

Yeah, this is MegaTen. No matter how powerful Surtr is, there is no way in hell he just no sells Sigurd's attack and burns the world by just swinging his sword. For all the demons and how powerful they can get, strong humans can usually at least hurt them, if not defeat them.
I'd actually say that if he has Tyrfing, Sigurd might just greatly wound Surtr with that one slash.

Never messed with Fire Emblem much but I've always been a pretty big Mega Ten fan. I don't see this being nearly as dark as a typical Megami Tensei title if their other recent title's any indication.
Which other recent title? SMTIV? Devil Survivor 2?
If you are talking about Fire Emblem, it can get pretty dark. From what I've seen, for all the lighthearted moments and elements, Awakening alone can get rather dark.

Should of said Nintendo's other recent crossover. Though I suppose the difference in primary demographics here is a little smaller than usual.
I doubt we'll be supplanting Biblical figures or shackling humanity's will, regardless.

Odie Etsy: Really? If it was SMT and Pokemon or Kirby I'd buy that but FE is not completely out there. It's still a shock but I can understand why they'd do it.
