I screwed up.

I unwittingly moved non-joystick controls onto the joystick and for some reason on the settings and difficulty select options my select button changes into a back button, which means I can't go into the control menu to change my controls back to normal.

Deleting and re-installing the game didn't fix this either, if anyone knows how to fix this I'd highly appreciate it...

EDIT: I don't know how, but I managed to fumble the control stick in such a way that the game let me get into the control options, and it's fixed now!

I loved Carol, but I never liked to play FP 1 and never found it really enjoyable so I gave up on it halfway.

In FP 2 demo, Neera makes the game playable! I feel like Neera and I instantly clicked. I can't wait for the release version to see if I can actually finish the game. [tup]

Carol is nothing but improved here.

If lps are any indication though, people are either not reading the character moves or are more confused than ever, I've seen two go without figuring out the parry, let alone the more advanced stuff like Lilac's jump uppercut or Carol's jumpdisc. SO far nobody's figured out the bike thing.

I love the animation in this game. The characters look and play very smoothly, I love slicing the grass for some reason, very pretty.

From what I understand, the actual in-game version of Dragon Valley is going to be longer and this is a sample-specific version. I hope so, because I like the faster speed, but don't want it to be all gotta go fast either. I liked meatier stage design from the first game than most Sonics.

Okay, I've managed to figure out a few things for each character that the game doesn't tell you off the bat.

Lilac

  • The Boost Breaker can be performed by pressing the "Special" button during a Dragon Boost to pile on extra damage. Useful for boss busting, as it knocks a chunk off their health and leaves Lilac invulnerable momentarily. She automatically Breaks when she hits a wall or corner head-on, though, so Boost responsibly.
  • Up plus Attack equals Shoryuken, even in midair. Jump followed by Down plus Attack equals a spin into a dive kick.

Carol

  • Carol's jump disc must remain onscreen for her to go to it. Lose it off the screen, and it's wasted. It can cling to enemies for added damage, however.
  • Pressing "Special" when mounted will cause Carol to throw her bike; it collapses and returns to her afterwards. If you want to mount again, press "Guard" after throwing the jump disc.

Milla

  • Milla's controls have changed a bit. Pressing "Guard" will summon a murdercube, instead of holding "Attack". Pressing "Special" with a loaded murdercube will break off microcubes to blast the opponent with; you can guard against projectiles and then immediately retaliate this way. Pressing "Attack" with a murdercube gives the Super Shield Burst, which has reduced recoil.
  • To summon a Wide Shield, you need to hold "Attack" and "Special" at the same time with a murdercube. Releasing will result in a Super Shield Burst.
  • Milla performs a high kick, then a low kick, followed by a roundhouse when you mash "Attack". Up plus Attack yields the roundhouse every time.

Neera

  • Up plus Attack causes Neera to spin her staff above her to shred aerial or large foes, whereas down plus Attack causes her to spike the staff into the opponent's head for heavy damage.
  • Pressing "Special" causes a wave of ice energy to bounce off walls and freeze an enemy on contact. Up plus Special yields a damaging ice storm.

Having a parry in a platformer is so good

It's so satisfying deflecting projectiles. And it doesn't kill your momentum, so you can dash through the game killing this and just parrying that. It's gonna make for some really flashy, satisfying speed runs.

Carol's jump disc must remain onscreen for her to go to it. Lose it off the screen, and it's wasted.

Not always, there's some leeway there.

Aww, I just realized that with Lilac's boost causing the burst upon impact with a wall, we will no longer have wild ricochet shenanigans with her boost.

Well it still ricochets when she does a diagonal boost, so it'll probably be fine.

It's fun boosting the bike in the air now. Carol is still my fav character, which is weird because she was my least in the first. And Lilac feels kind of weird now, like a bit stiff and thanks to the physics, not as fast with her down slashes. I'm used to Fusion where the downward momentum was preserved every time you did a downward slash on a slope.

Heh, it was more a placeholder av than anything. I really need to find a good Cory one.

I dunno. Boss fights in these games are pretty good. I could see Cory bust out a really memorable one.

[up][up][up] It's an edit I made some years ago of Flammie from the game Secret of Mana, made to wear the outfit of Kefka from Final Fantasy VI.

At some point, someone made me an edit of that sprite wearing hipster glasses, and I've used that version since.

Well at least I played the demo and playing it Neera Li has reignited my interest for the game. Now I can't wait but I must for the sake of a quality product.

"You fought well; too bad you're on the wrong side."

Also, why is Milla just "The Hound", it's the least impressive subtitle ever next to "The Dragon Girl". "The Wildcat" is also a species moniker but at least it sounds like exposition about Carol's character. Why does Neera get "The Frost Knight" instead of the "The Panda"? [lol]

Besides I still need to fill in my Alolan Pokedex. In both Sun and Moon. And I still haven't beaten Crawl or Nethack (but those games are insanely hard anyway).
