STAR WARS
The Curse Of Qalydon

It is a time of war. Centuries have passed since the fallen Jedi Master Phanius renamed himself DARTH RUIN and formed a NEW SITH EMPIRE from the ashes of the old. Though Ruin is long dead, having been betrayed by his numerous apprentices, his Empire is still mighty enough to challenge the Republic for control of the galaxy.

Faced with extinction, the Armies of the Republic stand side by side with the JEDI KNIGHTS, fighting desperately to hold the forces of darkness at bay on all fronts. Yet troubling rumours circulate across the fields of battle, whispers that a charismatic Sith Lord called RATH SKORROW seeks to unite the Empire’s squabbling factions and crush the Galactic Republic once and for all.

Fearing the devastation that a unified Sith offensive would unleash, the Supreme Chancellor and the Jedi High Council have secretly dispatched an ELITE STRIKE TEAM of Jedi Knights and the Republic’s best and brightest to track down the aspiring Dark Lord of the Sith and eliminate him before his dark ambitions can be realized…

It is one thousand, six hundred and seventy-five years before the battle of Yavin. The New Sith Wars have been going for just over three centuries at this point, during which the war has waxed and waned in intensity as the Sith Empire weakens itself in internal struggle. With a Dark Lord of the Sith to rally around, the various Sith Lords and their armies make for a formidable foe, but without such a figure the Sith squabble with one another for control, giving the Republic and her Jedi defenders a much-needed respite. The last Sith to bear the title of Dark Lord perished seventy-five years ago, and the Sith Lords have not yet been able to establish a new pecking order.

Should Rath Skorrow succeed in his bid to become Dark Lord of the Sith and unite his political rivals behind him, however, the Sith Empire could unleash a renewed and unified military offensive against the Jedi. Against such an onslaught, the Republic would be overwhelmed and while they could theoretically beat back the Sith, their victory would be pyrrhic at best. To prevent this from happening, the Supreme Chancellor and the Jedi High Council have put together a small team consisting of seasoned Knights, promising Padawans, and the best and brightest that the Republic Armed Forces have to offer. The strike team’s mission: to infiltrate Imperial space, deep behind enemy lines, locate Rath Skorrow’s base of operations and assassinate him before he can unite the various factions of the Sith.

Their task will not be an easy one. The Republic has little intelligence on Sith space and the territories within it, and the Empire has a stranglehold on the Holonet which will make maintaining contact with the outside galaxy almost impossible. The strike team will need to be self-sufficient, and they will need to avoid drawing attention to themselves—if the Sith realize that Jedi are running around within their territory, their wrath will be swift and terrible. The path ahead is fraught with danger, and it is quite possible that at least some members of the strike team will not make it out alive; even so, they cannot afford to fail in their mission. Rath Skorrow must be stopped, or countless billions will die as the Sith war machine kicks into high gear.

You are a member of this task force, and now the fate of the Republic rests on your shoulders. May the Force be with you.

STUFF THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

I’ve chosen to set this RP during the early part of the New Sith Wars because it is a period of Star Wars history that has never really been fleshed out in as much detail as some other parts of the timeline. Because of this, you as players will have greater freedom in what you can do without having to worry about mucking with continuity, if such a thing is a major concern for you. However, to make sure that the game’s narrative is cohesive and we don’t end up confusing each other, I’ll be laying down a few things that you need to know and which should be relatively common knowledge for at least some of your characters.

You, the players, are welcome to come up with events and individuals beyond those mentioned here in order to better flesh out your characters. You would be able to come up with such things at any time throughout the course of the game, provided that you do not contradict each other. In addition, I myself will be adding additional information to this section as the game goes on.

Beyond these, having a general knowledge of the Star Wars expanded universe will help. And if all else fails, remember—Wookieepedia is your friend.

Important Locations and Planets

The New Sith Empire

Established centuries ago by Darth Ruin, the New Sith Empire has expanded and shrunk many times throughout the course of the war. At present, however, the Empire controls a significant fraction of the known galaxy; everything south of the Perlemian Trade Route and north of the Corellian Run, from the Outer Rim through the Inner Rim, is Imperial territory at the time of this game. to prevent the Sith from using these hyperlanes to strike at Coruscant and the other Core Worlds, the Republic Navy has stationed interdiction fleets and mass shadow mines along both trade routes; any starships without Republic IFF transponders travelling along these routes will be pulled out of hyperspace, leaving them surprised and vulnerable to attack.

Fighting is fiercest along the rimward edge of the Perlemian, for the Sith were forced out of their ancestral territory in the Esstran sector twenty years before by their defeat at the Battle of Corbos. Knowing just how important that the worlds of Korriban, Ziost and Dromund Kaas are to any iteration of the Sith, the Jedi and the Republic are doing everything in their power to keep their foes out of that region of space.

Under Darth Ruin the Sith Empire’s capital was the planet Roon, and under the Dark Underlord it was instead Malrev IV. Since the Underlord’s demise, it is not clear what planet—if any—now acts as the Empire’s seat of government.

Major Events and Battles

The Battle of Corbos

A major victory for the Jedi and the Republic, the Battle of Corbos was the brainchild of General Cassius Valorum and the battle which forced the Sith Empire out of the Esstran sector. Knowing the planet’s history and its significance to both the Jedi and the Sith, Cassius cooperated with Jedi Master Grem Tharrus and Republic Intelligence director Karrosk Ark’krey to feed false information to the Sith spy network operating in Republic space, spreading rumours that Tharrus and the other members of the Jedi High Council would be holding a conclave on Corbos. All of the Order’s senior Masters would be in attendance, along with several members of the Ministry of Defence and the Admiralty Board.

The spies took the bait, and unable to pass up such a large and tempting target no less than fifteen separate Sith Lords sent their fleets to Corbos, hoping to bombard the planet from orbit and deal the Jedi Order a blow from which it would never recover. This had been exactly what Cassius had been waiting for, however, and once the Sith armada had entered the system he sprung his trap: the Corbos system had been mined extensively, wreaking havoc upon the Sith fleets as they exited hyperspace. Cassius’ forces jumped into the system even as the Sith were still reeling, using interdictors placed at key points to prevent the Sith from fleeing; at the same time the Jedi opened up with hastily-prepared anti-orbital guns. The Sith had been caught between a hammer and anvil, and the Republic pounded on them mercilessly; within three hours, the Republic fleet had suffered only minor casualties while the entire Sith armada had been wiped out.

This crushing defeat had severely weakened the Sith presence in the Esstran sector, and over the next three weeks the Republic had managed to push the Empire all the way back behind the Perlemian Trade Route. The loss of worlds like Korriban and Ziost was a massive blow to Sith morale, and in the twenty years since the Battle they have made numerous attempts to reclaim the sector; thus far, they have had no success.

Of the fifteen Sith Lords who participated in the Battle of Corbos, only one is known to have survived—Holtek-Hal, a Draethos marauder who managed to kill fifty Jedi onboard the cruiser Deliverance before fleeing in a stolen shuttle despite having been fatally shot through the heart.

Important Individuals

The Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order

The Jedi High Council

Grem Tharrus
A wise and patient Anx, Grem Tharrus has served as Grand Master of the Jedi Order for twenty years and was a member of the High Council for twenty more before that. Having served on the front lines as a Jedi Guardian during the reign of the Dark Underlord, Master Tharrus knows all too well the unspeakable horror that the Sith could unleash if they were ever able to put aside their petty rivalries and unite against their common foe. As such, he will take whatever actions necessary to ensure that this never happens—and if assassination is the only way to keep Rath Skorrow from uniting his fellow Sith Lords and unleashing a military offensive that would leave countless billions dead at the very least, then so be it.

Koyi Fortuna
Respected throughout the Jedi Order for her mastery of the Force and for being highly skilled in a number of fields, Master Koyi Fortuna rose to her position from the depths of ignominy. Born a slave in the underground cities of the tidally-locked planet Ryloth, this Rutian Twi’lek was forced to conceal her gift for fear of being discovered and taken by the occupying forces of the Sith Empire; her parents managed to smuggle her offworld in the cargo hold of a spice freighter, and eventually she was found by a knight errant who recognized her strong affinity for the Force and trained her in the ways of the Jedi. It was her vision of Coruscant in flames and the galaxy sinking into darkness that spurred the High Council into organizing the elite task force to eliminate Skorrow.

Vaal Met
A Jedi Consular of the Krevaaki species, Master Vaal Met is a cunning diplomat and mediator; few beings outside of his race can read the Jedi Master’s facial expressions owing to the fact that his face is composed of rigid and inflexible plates of chitin, a fact which gives him a considerable advantage in parley and similar situations. He would much rather talk things through than resort to violence if at all possible, but this does not mean that he is not an effective warrior nevertheless—in times of trouble and danger, Master Met will readily put his personal preferences aside and draw his lightsaber in defence of the innocent without a moment’s hesitation. He believes that not all of the Force Adepts who serve the Sith Empire are completely irredeemable, and that surely some can be convinced to turn back from their dark path before it consumes them utterly; that so few do seems to sadden him greatly. He does not approve of the proposed strike team or its mission of assassination, but he understands the necessity of it—while the Dark Jedi and lesser Sith that serve the Empire can be turned to the light, the Sith Lords whom they serve are not so easily swayed.

Murrtaggh
One of the Order’s greatest heroes, General Murrtaggh was a male Miraluka Jedi Master who led the forces of the Republic in the five-year campaign against the Dark Underlord. After battling the Dark Lord and his Black Knights in a dozen different systems, Murrtaggh was able to find his enemy’s base of operations on the planet Malrev IV, and rather than needlessly waste the lives of his men in a direct assault on the Underlord’s temple-fortress, Murrtaggh enacted a cunning plan. Hiring Mandalorian mercenaries to provide a distraction, Murrtaggh then snuck into the Sith camp while their forces were away and duelled the Dark Underlord, striking him down after a long battle. Murrtaggh was never heard from again after this victory, and it is believed that he became one with the Force. A statue was erected in honour of his sacrifice in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

The Senate

Doram Delal
Though not a member of the Jedi Order, Doram Delal is nevertheless a close friend of the Order and an acquaintance of several members of the High Council. While his species, the Ithorians, are best known for their pacifism, as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic Doram Delal has proven an able and effective wartime leader, maintaining order in the Senate and preventing panic from spreading throughout the worlds of the Republic. Officially, he has no involvement in or knowledge of the strike team’s activities; unofficially, however, Delal had a significant hand in its creation and their activities have his tacit approval.

Known Sith Lords

Information on the major powers of the Sith Empire is limited, due to their stranglehold on the HoloNet within their territory. What follows is the full extent of what Republic Intelligence has managed to learn of the Empire's would-be leaders thus far.

Historical Sith

Darth Ruin
The founder of the New Sith Empire, Darth Ruin was once a respected Jedi Master named Phanius before the Order excommunicated him over philosophical differences. Outraged at his dismissal, Phanius took revenge on the Jedi by unifying the scattered cults and remnants of the old Sith Empires into a new one under his banner, and he persuaded fifty Jedi to turn to the dark side and join his cause, making them the first members of his new Sith order.

Ruin’s tenure as Dark Lord of the Sith was relatively short; he had held the position for no more than ten years before his numerous apprentices grew tired of his single-mindedness, ambition and solipsistic worldview and killed him. Yet even though Ruin’s own reign was brief, his legacy still continues to menace the galaxy three hundred years later.

The Dark Underlord
The last known Dark Lord of the Sith, the Dark Underlord was a phantasmal being of mysterious origins. Theories abound about the true nature and identity of this Sith Lord, but none have been confirmed; some have claimed that he was a spirit called forth from the realm of Chaos by some dark ritual, and others have even gone so far as to suggest that he is the ghost of the semi-mythical Xendor, who lead the Legions of Lettow against the Jedi Order early in its history. Whatever his origins may have been, the Dark Underlord was a force to be reckoned with; under his leadership the Sith Empire launched a vicious campaign against the Republic, raiding countless worlds alongside his elite Black Knights. He was defeated seventy-five years ago when forces on the planet Malrev IV were lured into a trap—as his soldiers fought against Mandalorian mercenaries working for the Republic, the famed Jedi Master Murrtaggh infiltrated the Dark Underlord’s camp and struck him down at the cost of his own life. No Sith has claimed the title of Dark Lord of the Sith since.

Active Sith

Rath Skorrow
A charismatic and mysterious Sith Lord, Rath Skorrow is the campaign’s main antagonist. Little is known about him, save that he is very powerful and incredibly persuasive; it is said that he has turned the populations of entire worlds to his side with little more than a few choice words, and that his armies can conquer planets without firing a single shot or taking a single life. Skorrow is a strong contender for the title of Dark Lord of the Sith and the Empire’s vacant throne—if he were to unite the many warring factions of the Sith Empire under his banner, there is no telling what havoc he shall raise across the galaxy before he is defeated. To prevent this, the Jedi Council has formed an elite task force to track Skorrow down and assassinate him before he can assume the mantle of Dark Lord.

The Brothers Karamak
Well-known and widely feared even in the heart of Republic space, far from the front lines of the New Sith Wars, the Brothers Karamak are a pair of male Devaronian Sith Lords who are brothers in spirit if not necessarily blood. They control an area of space known as the Principality of Karnak, whose citizens are kept in line by fear of the brothers’ capricious whims; to appease them, every village of every world in the Principality is required to hold annual lotteries where the ‘winner’ is savagely and ritualistically murdered by their peers. Such pointless carnage pleases the Brothers Karamak greatly, and their tactics are so brutal and needlessly sadistic that even other Sith Lords are wary of cooperating with them; a common saying in the Empire is that if the Sith conquered the galaxy under the brothers’ leadership, all sapient life in the galaxy would be dead within a decade.

The younger brother, Zegem, is the most violent of the pair, while the elder brother Zorlok is more level-headed and keeps his sibling’s most destructive impulses in check. It is said that the two share a strong bond in the Force, to the extent that they can communicate telepathically over countless light-years; this is the brothers’ greatest strength, but it may also prove their greatest weakness. While most Devaronian males are red-skinned, the Brothers Karamak have covered themselves with black-and-grey Sith tattoos to appear more menacing to their enemies and subordinates; Zorlok in particular sports tattoos which make him look like a skeleton, while Zegem instead resembles some malevolent harlequin.

Darth Plutocron
As paranoid as he is wealthy, the self-proclaimed ‘Darth’ Plutocron reigns supreme in the Cronus Hegemony, one of the largest factions of the Sith Empire. Though possessed of great power and wisdom, Plutocron has never taken an apprentice and seldom interacts with his subjects save through the use of tightly-encrypted holograms; he believes that his fellow Sith Lords—and most other beings, for that matter—covet his vast wealth and knowledge, and that would-be assassins lurk within every shadow. because of this intense fear of death, Darth Plutocron goes to great lengths in order to conceal his appearance: even in his own hegemony, most beings have no idea what species he is, let alone what he looks and sounds like. Some even believe that there is no Darth Plutocron, that the name is an alias employed by a number of lesser Sith working in collusion with one another to keep their enemies guessing. No effort has been made to quash these rumours, perhaps because they serve the Sith Lord’s agenda.

Darth Rozion
A female human Sith Lord known far and wide for her remarkable grace and beauty, Darth Rozion is also feared for her cunning and manipulative nature. She uses her feminine whiles and the dark side of the Force to twist even the most steadfast servants of light and order into thralls all too willing to leap off a bridge to their deaths if that would please their dark mistress. A skilled practitioner of Sith alchemy, Darth Rozion has wrought a number of monstrous horrors and abominations which now bedevil the forces of the Republic into existence, and it is said that those who displease the Sith Lord but could still be of some use are thrown into her ‘shaping pits’, where they are tortured and twisted into monstrous mockeries of their former selves.

Holtek-Hal
Also known by such grandiose epithets as the Lord of Decay and the Undying One, Holtek-Hal was a Draethos Sith Lord whose tenure was largely unremarkable until the hour of his demise. One of many Sith present at the disastrous Battle of Corbos, Holtek-Hal’s forces were routed by the Jedi and he was struck down by a lucky shot from a Republic sharpshooter, whose blaster bolt pierced the Draethos’ heart even as he held off three Jedi Knights singlehandedly. His body died almost instantly, but Holtek-Hal himself did not pass on into the netherworld of the Force; outraged at having been brought low by such a cowardly and inglorious attack, the Sith Lord’s fury was so great that his spirit possessed his corpse and he went on a rampage through his enemies’ ranks before retreating from the battle in a stolen shuttle. Now Holtek-Hal exists in a state of undeath, his body slowly decaying into dust but unkillable by normal means; eventually he will die once there is no flesh left for his spirit to cling to, and to forestall that impending demise he feverishly searches for a means to transfer his dark essence into a new vessel.

Holtek-Hal rules the Empyrean Expanse, a territory on the north-eastern fringes of the Sith Empire; how many systems the Expanse contains is unknown, but its borders stretch from Abhean to Quermia along the Perlemian Trade Route, and it is believed to contain at least part of the Tion Cluster as well as the planets Ossus and Mon Calamari.

Other

Vehicles and Vessels

Tyrant-class Star Destroyer

The backbone of the Imperial Navy, these dagger-shaped warships have become a symbol of fear and dread for those unfortunate enough to live within or near the boundaries of the Sith Empire. Based on the Centurion-class battlecruisers used by Darth Revan’s forces during the Old Sith Wars three thousand years ago, the Tyrant-class features a number of refinements and improvements upon these ancient designs; most notably, ships of this class possess a long dorsal flight deck, similar to those found on the Venator-class Star Destroyers used in the final days of the Old Republic, which allows them to quickly disgorge hundreds of starfighters in order to overwhelm any opposition. However, while this flight deck offers a considerable advantage over contemporary Republic designs it is also a weakness; the hangar doors are slow to open and close, leaving the ship extremely vulnerable.

Tyrant-class Star Destroyers measure 1,300 metres from bow to stern and are heavily armed, possessing six medium turbolaser cannon batteries, six heavy ion cannon batteries, ten point-defence laser cannon batteries, numerous tractor beam projectors and twelve proton torpedo launchers. They can carry up to 240 Vornskr-class Interceptors in their dorsal hangars, as well as numerous support vehicles in the ventral hangars; between this complement and their weaponry, a single Star Destroyer can easily blockade—and if necessary, pacify—an entire planet.

Vornskr-class Interceptor

Named after the Force-sensitive pack hunters of Myrkr, the Vornskr is the Sith Empire’s primary starfighter. Lightweight and mass-produced, these interceptors compensate for a lack of armour and shielding by being extremely fast and manoeuvrable, and combined with their small frames these traits make them difficult targets. They are armed with twin laser cannons that pack quite a punch, with an output greater than that of the Republic’s Delta-1 starfighters; this allows them to inflict considerable damage even to capital ships when swarming. Their power and speed comes at a cost, for these fighters were not designed with pilot safety or comfort in mind; the hull plating is very thin and easily damaged, and the complete lack of an onboard life-support system forces pilots to wear fully-enclosed enviro-suits at all times while in the cockpit.

The Vornskr-class Interceptor measures eight metres in length, three in width and possesses a pair of triangular, forward-pointing wings which resemble fangs when viewed from above. It is propelled by a twin ion drive system which produces a distinctive ‘howling’ sound when flying through an atmosphere.

The Aluminum Falcon

Provided for the strike team by the Jedi High Council, the Aluminum Falcon is a Class 180 light freighter designed and manufactured by Ghtroc Industries. As Ghtroc Industries is located in the Outer Rim, within the boundaries of Sith space, the Class 180 is a fairly common vehicle within the Empire; this, combined with its modular design and ease of customization, makes the model a favourite for smugglers trying to run spice and other contraband from Hutt Space to other areas of the galaxy. The ubiquitous nature of this design will ensure that the Aluminum Falcon does not draw any unwanted attention from the Sith in and of itself.

The Aluminum Falcon measures thirty-eight metres in length, has a cargo capacity of 135 tonnes between its two cargo bays, can accommodate up to ten passengers in addition to a minimum crew of two, and carries enough consumables to sustain such a group for two months without resupply. It has a Class 2 hyperdrive with a Class 15 backup, and is armed with a single double laser cannon controlled from the gunnery station in the cockpit. In the event of an emergency, the ship’s rear docking tubes contain a pair of escape pods.

Who owned the Aluminum Falcon before it came into the Council’s possession is a mystery, but it seems that they’ve made a number of modifications to the craft. What those modifications entail, unfortunately, has yet to be determined…

Do you have to know much about the expanded universe to play this RP? Also, I'm a little disappointed we can't play as Sith. I've always wanted to know what life is like on the other side of the coin.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial

Damn Sullen.

I already have like... five different characters I want to play just from the description. Choosing will be hard, but I have one that I wish to play over the others.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

B-b-b-b-but, what about Bounty Hunters? Hunter-Killer droids?

By that, I mean as a class. Probably just make the bounty hunter a "scoundrel"? But that was more of me noticing the absence of bounty hunters, what I really want is an assassin droid, would you just say to make that a scout or a soldier or what?

Hmm... This seems really interesting, although I'll admit that when I heard Disney bought Lucasfilm and was planning on releasing another movie in 2015 or so, I prepared myself for the worst. Then again, who knows? I may be pleasantly surprised.

Anyway, I'll come up with something soon.

  • Name: Daren Alon Karn
  • Age: 36
  • Gender: Male
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: 1,81 meters tall with a thin, trained body with compact muscles. He has long legs, slightly wide shoulders and a fair complexion. He has light brown hair, slightly long, but not enough to reach his shoulders with just a slight hint of greying in it. Has gone clean shaven his entire life, though after being assigned to this mission, he has started to grow a small, well kept beard. He has a jovial and calm looking demeanor and expression, though some lines in his face would give a good observer a hint of some harsh past. His eyes are brown in color and warm if a tad unremarkable.
  • Class: Jedi Guardian
  • Abilities and Equipment: Daren Karn is a powerful Jedi Master who has fought for most of his life in the service of the Republic. He is one of the greatest duelists of his time, a master of the third form of lightsaber fighting Soresu. With it, he is a tireless and nearly unshakable fighter, using economy of motion to weave impenetrable defenses and tire his opponents. However, unknown to most of his enemies is his mastery over the more aggressive fourth form of Ataru. Only in special moments does he let the defensive wall of Soresu fade and then wields a second lightsaber to engage in a vicious attack of Ataru. Despite his martial expertise, he has also dedicated much of his time to the pursuits of knowledge and a deeper connection to the Force, on which he heavily depends during combat. Ever eager to learn and with a deeply curious mind, he is often seen in the archives or making conversation with new people when his duties allow him. Ever calm and jovial Master Karn is also a skilled diplomat with a honest love for getting to know new people and learn about their experiences, ways of view and personalities. Additionally, he possesses cursory knowledge of the use of blaster weapons, how to pilot, and some minor mechanics and computer use. As mentioned before, the Jedi Master carries with him two lightsabers, one which is often tucked away from view. They both have blue colored crystals in them, with a rather simple design of silver metal with a black grip. Aside from this, he carries the usual kit of a Jedi on an utility belt, survival rations in the form of capsules, a Hush-98 comlink, a fibercord grappling hook and a grappling spike launcher, a holoprojector, a holomap, and A99 aquata breather. Besides this he wears the usual robes of the Jedi, with a preference for wearing light armor with it.
  • Personality: Daren is a steadfast Jedi Master, completely loyal to the ideals of the Republic and to the Jedi Temple. While he can be highly serious and dedicated when on the job, off duty he is a serene and pleasant man, with countless stories to tell and many more that he wishes to hear. He is a very dependable man, and while he has preferred to step to the side and keep himself out of the spotlight, he can prove to be a reliable leader and a great strategist. Although always he is always jovial and pleasant, underneath his merry attitude he carries the pain of many slain comrades, a galaxy in pain and the prospect of a Sith uprising which will bring unforetold suffering should the new Dark Lord is not brought down.
  • Background: Daren Alon Karn was born on Dantooine, in a small rural farmstead with little outside contact besides his family. There he lived a simple life, unaware of the chaos and destruction outside of his little corner of the Galaxy. However this was not to last, as an attack by a particularly feral group of Kath hounds assaulted the family homestead, killing most of the family. It was at this point that the young orphan was sent to the Capital of Garang, where he was found to be a Force Sensitive child. Even though he was a little old to join the temple, the authorities of Dantooine were insistent until the boy was taken away from their custody. Thus, Dalen's training in the way of the Jedi began, a regime which he took in earnestly as a way to forget the battle which ultimately took his parent's life. This coupled with having an entire galaxy suddenly revealed to him made young Daren foster a curiosity that would last him a lifetime. However, he soon was horrified to learn that the peace he had taken for granted growing up was the exception rather than the rule in the galaxy. This only made Daren train harder than ever, making his purpose in life to bring peace and safety to the Galaxy. He was one of the young Padawans to fight in the Battle of Corbos and the subsequent three weeks of intense battle which expelled the Sith outside of the Perlemian. In this conflict, Daren distinguished himself for his cool head in combat, strength in the Force and valor in the field of battle. Not long afterwards he was named knight of the Republic and ever since has split his attention between battle in the front lines and helping a galaxy in need behind them. However, a small idiosyncrasy of him is how he prefers to take on a support role in large scale operations, letting his skill and squadrons lay the foundation for a victory while others deal the death strike and claim ultimate victory.

  • Name: Elayne Mentzer
  • Age: 23
  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Yes, I'm using safebooru in a Star Wars RP, sue me
  • Class: Scoundrel (technically a Jedi Guardian)
  • Abilities & Equipment:
    • Lightsaber: Your standard lightsaber. This particular model has been designed for speed and quick precision handling rather than length or brute strength, and has seen some modifications over the years, changing its overall base design. Uses a red blade of course, because as we all know, "da red wunz go fastah!" Fights in combination with lightsaber and hat*
    • Form VII: Trained heavily in Juyo, although most of it is self taught*. Unlike most Jedi, who have strict codes and reservations against the temptations of Juyo, Elayne employs it without fear or restraint, mostly because she is no longer burdened with obeying the teachings of Jedi or Sith.
    • Force powers: A Force prodigy, much like certain individuals who would later rise to prominence during the rise and fall of the Empire, Elayne has almost unlimited potential with the Force yet untapped. While her repertoire lacks variety due to the abandonment of the Jedi way, the powers she does display exhibit far more power than someone of her limited experience should have. Is especially talented with techniques specialized for straight-up destruction, like Telekinesis and Force lightning.
      • Telekinesis: Since I didn't want to make a list of Force speed, push, pull and all their variants. Elayne is very talented in the use of telekinesis, and often uses it to incredibly destructive ends.
      • Force lightning: She has knowledge of and can use a variety of Force lightning variants. However, at the moment, her skill in this area can be called average at best. Not bad, not great. She has room to improve.
      • Shatterpoints: She can see shatterpoints, although she doesn't really know the significance of what she's seeing. Mostly she just thinks "hit things here and they die".
      • Mind tricks: She did receive training in Jedi mind tricks, and abuses the hell out of them for convenience's sake.
  • Personality: Wild, uncontrolled, irresponsible, reckless and severely lacking in discipline. Elayne doesn't like being held back by rules or restrictions, and prefers to do things her own way. Note how this is beginning to sound very un-Jedi-like. This is the primary reason she defected and became a Dark Jedi. Not because she loved the darkness or kicking puppies tasted good, but simply because she couldn't stand all the rules of the Jedi council. She definitely doesn't have the same solid moral core that most Jedi have, but she's still not beyond saving, because even as a mercenary and bounty hunter, she still refuses to take jobs that leave a bad taste in her mouth.
  • Background: A promising young Force sensitive who was selected to be trained in the ways of the Jedi so her prodigal powers could one day be put to use for the Republic. This didn't turn out well, suffice to say, as Elayne proved to be reckless, and hard to control. Eventually she became known as "the problem child" amongst the council, who had taken an active interest in her development, but were quickly losing patience. Elayne was always curious about new Force techniques and combat styles, always new means to power, and rejected some of the Force's more subtle applications. The first time she inquired about dark side Force powers, her master punished her severely. It was this punishment for simple inquiry that convinced her the Jedi were too stiff, and wrapped up in trappings that didn't suit an actual warrior, or even a guardian. Just a bigoted bureaucrat. She defected soon after, and became a bounty hunter, using her Force powers to make a living (and a name) for herself. She continued to live up to her reputation as a prodigy, discovering many force techniques through simple experimentation, or watching other Jedi she happened to meet in the field.

Let me know if this is too much. I had the idea of an inexperienced Force prodigy and thought it'd be fun to mess around with.

My apologies for taking so long to get back to you guys. In order:

As I said in my second post, a working knowledge of the Expanded Universe will certainly help, but I'm not expecting everyone to know every last bit of it inside and out. And of course, don't be afraid to use Wookieepedia should the need arise;

Droids are indeed permissible, and bounty hunters could fall under any of the three non-Jedi classes depending on how their abilities are kitted out. In the case of HK-74, though, I'd say it falls under a Scoundrel because of his concealed weaponry and his emphasis on stealth and assassination;

Daren Karn looks acceptable to me, and while perhaps a little sparse HK-74 seems like he could work as well. Elayne, however, raises a number of questions—chief among them why the Jedi Council would want a known Dark Jedi with rather significant authority issues and a thirst for new Force techniques on the strike team, when that strike team will be going deep into Sith-controlled space for an unknown span of time and their success and/or survival will depend on teamwork. Even if they know that she's redeemable, sending her into a place like that strikes me as a disaster waiting to happen; at the very least, one of the other Jedi characters would probably need to keep an eye on her to make sure that she doesn't end up going over to the Sith, which would likely aggravate Elayne's problem with authority.

And this is without getting into the fact that she's basically Starkiller taking a page from Darth Desolous' playbook (and no, Vaapad would not be availabe at this time; especially not if she's self-taught). I'm sorry, but I don't think that Elayne will be acceptable—not without some significant tweaking, at the very least.

Ah. I actually did forget to mention this. She's not actually known as a Dark Jedi, or at least she's not known by the Council. She's been working as a bounty hunter, so they're hiring Elayne under the assumption that she's just a particularly skilled bounty hunter. They're not aware she's the same Dark Jedi who defected a few years back.

I'm not too familiar with the expanded universe, so I'm not sure if the council would have some way of knowing otherwise.

@ clawthewolf: A sniper would probably work best as a Scout, methinks.

@ KSPAM: If the council took an interest in her training as you've stated in her background, it seems fairly likely that they would recognize her or at least find her remarkably familiar. After all, despite what they prequel movies might lead one to believe deceiving the Jedi Council is no easy feat; it took quite a bit of skill for Palpatine to conceal his true nature from the Council for as long as he did.

That said, even if they don't recognize Elayne personally and were unaware that this bounty hunter—this lightsaber-toting, cortosis shield-wielding Force Adept, I should say—they would almost certainly be able to sense her vast Force potential, as well as her inclination towards the dark side of the Force. Which brings me back to my original point on the matter: why would the Council want such an individual on their strike team?

Hmm, now that I've begun thinking about it I think I'll make my character a soldier as she is a Mandalorian merc who simply is a very good marksman who likes hunting sith using a slug throwing sniper rifle. It is kinda hard to block when instead of deflecting the shot it instead just melts, and continues towards your face.

  • Name: Abe Guillman
  • Age: 35
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human (Cyborg)
  • Appearance: About a meter and a half tall, with a stocky, but not well defined build; he's overall more conceded with building practical strength, rather than aesthetic or agility. If he was trying to look his best as opposed to perform his best, he'd have an organic, green-pupiled left eye in the place of a tungsten-rimmed screen that offers binocular, infrared, and thermal vision. He'd have a full head of glossy, well trimmed hair, and the back of his skull wouldn't be laden with a plated, vital-tracing hardware. The skin, sinew and bones of his arms, shoulders, and ribs wouldn't be with patches of cybernetics to nearly double his tactile strength and endurance. He'd have the pleasure of a heavily tanned left ear sans a mechanical hearing aid. He usually seen wearing the standard Heavy trooper armor and helmet, seeing that his looks tend to unsettle people. The armor itself is re-inforced with an inbuilt personal energy shield to provide a small addition to defense. The helmet interfaces with his cybernetics to upload mission data, weather conditions, a verbal translation database, local maps, and non-encrypted lines of communications. It' adjusts to differing atmospheric pressures, and filter breathable air from otherwise hazardous atmospheres, if at all possible.
  • Class: Commando
  • Abilities/Equipment: Having sufficient weapons training and the required strength, Abe is a natural with the highly destructive and rapid firing heavy assault cannon, though it still requires both hands to use. The cannon is pre-loaded with seven 'mortar' shells. He has a Zabrak Tystel heavy blaster pistol as a sidearm. He has three thermal detonator grenades and two EMP grenades tapered to his left side, with a large vibro-dagger to his right. He's an elite amongst Republic military personnel, and is equipped as such, tool wise. His utility belt contains: Five days worth of rations in the form of high-energy bars, four blaster power backs, an aqua breather, a grappling hook (though the grappling surface must be especially stable to compensate for his weight), an extra comm-link should the one built into his wrist-armor) fail him, two collapsed bacta patches, a disinfectant spray can, and a two-use t adrenaline stimulant to be placed in his vital-tracing hardware. He's also well versed in the standard Republic hand-to-hand combat, but much prefers to keep fighting at a range. He has a background in mass warfare, but has served more extensively in small groups, applying the tactics involved with experience.
  • Personality: A pretty nice guy, for being death on legs. He does what he can to not let his line of work get to him, always striving for a positive relationship with others, or at least a diplomatic solution before everything goes to hell. This has occasionally put him at odds with some of his superiors, who've expressed doubt in his ability to get the job done at all costs. He has a slight resentment for the use of the force, given what he's fought in the past, but isn't likely to let that get in the way of cooperation with force users. He'll just sleep with an eye open for the first few nights, though that doesn't necessarily mean much when you can can't close one of them. As to the issue of his enhancements, he'll tolerate people's crap, then remind them what he's done for others, and if they still don't lay off, he show them what he's done to others. In that order.
  • Background: Born to a small family of engineers and smalltime doctors on Coruscant, Abe had no shortage of exposure to the Sith presence. Every part of his life, his parents lives, were affected by the ongoing struggle. In a break of family tradition, he joined the Republic military at the age of nineteen. His passion for the Republic and his intense, almost uncharacteristic despise of the Empire, and natural talent for front-line operations had quickly put him up through the ranks. On the other hand his zeal had blinded him to the true real risks of the war, a foolishness that had culminated in a nearly fatal head injury received from grenade-shrapnel. The experience had taught him some degree of temperance, but didn't lessen his enthusiasm to serve again on the front lines. His superiors, sympathetic to his situation and admiring his will, offered him more than recovery from his injury, but enhancement in the form of cybernetic upgrades. Abe hastily accepted the offer. After the extensive surgery and several months of physical therapy, Abe was on the front lines again, new, improved, and finally amongst the Republic's finest soldiers.

It's possible to sense someone's inclination to a certain side of the Force? Well, my reasoning was that she appeared completely in disguise so no one would recognize her, or perhaps disguised herself and communicated through the holonet. There are a bunch of ways she could have approached the situation without revealing herself. She's stupid, but not that stupid.

  • Name: Tagali Maak
  • Age: 25
  • Gender: Probably male. It's a little hard to tell.
  • Species: Chadra-Fan
  • Appearance: Tagali is, quite frankly, not much to speak of in terms of appearance, seeing as how the vast majority of his kind look eerily similar to one another. He's definitely short, about a head shorter than your average Fan. And that's saying something. Covered from head to toe in coarse brown fur, he resembles nothing more than a diminutive humanoid bat, sans wings. His broad, leaf-shaped nose bears a single deep scar along its edge, a reminder of a rather poorly thought out training exercise. His wide, solid black eyes contain something of a mischievous spark in them, and the tips of his long pointed ears seem to be missing. Tagali is most often seen wearing the uniform of a Jedi knight, though the outfit always seems just a size too large for him.
  • Class: Jedi consular.
  • Abilities and Equipment: Despite his unassuming and, admittedly, rather comical appearance, Tagali is a highly trained Jedi knight, especially skilled in the ways of the Force. Though he prefers not to overspecialize, he is particularly adept in the manipulation of the senses, especially his own. With a simple application of the Force, Tagali is able to peer through solid objects, telepathically connect with the minds of others, and enhance his already finely tuned senses to almost superhuman levels. Aside from this, he also has a decent grasp of telekinesis, no pun intended, and will make use of the Ionize power with almost malicious glee. Though he's definitely a little rusty, Tagali is an adherent of the Ataru school of lightsaber combat, making use of force-assisted leaps and his own low center of gravity to land quick and powerful strikes against his foes. Unfortunately, he's rather frail and because of this prefers to avoid combat when he can. When in the fray, he prefers to stand in the back row, aiding more melee oriented combatants with the occasional hurled object or blaster bolt. This being despite the fact that he has terrible aim with any sort of firearm, to the point where he couldn't hit a star cruiser at point blank. On his belt hangs Tagali's lightsaber, little more than a silvery tube fitted with purple focusing crystals. He's always been one for simplicity of design. Aside from his blade, he prefers to travel light, with only a comlink, a couple week's worth of rations, and some spare credits at his side.
  • Personality: A staunch proponent of the Living Force school of thought, Tagali could best be described as impulsive, fearless, and by the testimony of one Jedi Master in particular "unceasingly irritating". Like most of his kind, Tagali believes that nothing is permanent, that everything will change eventually and you best enjoy things the way they are while you still can. This syncs up rather nicely with the tenants of the Living Force, which might be why he chose to follow such a path in the first place. Tagali is a risk-taker, willing to leap into situations that would give more experienced or capable Jedi pause. However, while he may be somewhat reckless, Tagali is no fool. Every chance he takes is a carefully calculated risk, and for every action he takes that's driven by impulse or simple self-interest there is another undertaken through a mixture of careful action and split-second thinking. While he does not experience the psychological need for companionship that most of his species do*, Tagali seeks out new friends wherever he goes, treating even total strangers as if he'd known them all his life. Despite his tendency towards action before thought, Tagali is very spiritual, as befits a member of the Jedi order. When not in the middle of some daring mission or another, he's more than willing to discuss philosophical matters or other such topics.
  • Background: Tagali is a native of the Chadra-Fan homeworld of Chad, the most recent addition to a rather affluent family of traders and merchants. While his clan was certainly wealthy, the class discrepancy on Chad isn't nearly as striking as it is on other worlds, and the Maak clan were more than willing to lend assistance to some of the less fortunate Fan out there. As a child, Tagali was even more of a rambunctious little snot than he is now. Even his family, with their near infinite patience, found it difficult to raise the young Force-sensitive. Still, he was family, and they did their best to school him in the ways of the Fan, how all things were temporary at best and it was near always better to enjoy the here and now rather than worry about the future or bemoan what has passed. It wasn't until he was taken under the wing of Rale Madurr, a Jedi Master passing through the system after apprehending a suspected Dark Jedi, that Tagali was instilled with some measure of discipline. While he was reluctant to take the young Fan away from his clan at such a young age, Master Madurr saw great potential in this potential student, and soon, after much negotiation with the clan, took Tagali away to train in the remote Jedi enclave on Dantooine. His training began in earnest, and though it was a lengthy and difficult process for Tagali, he soon learned the ways of the Jedi and of the Living Force. While Rale was a rather lenient master, content to let his young Padawan explore his own emotions rather than restraining them as more conservative Jedi would have him do, he was quick to discipline Tagali if and when he slipped up.
    • Finally, after several long years under Master Madurr's supervision and a multitude of successful sabotage and surveillance missions, it came to pass that Tagali earned the rank of Jedi Knight. The Council were, admittedly, reluctant to grant someone so reckless and impulsive. A few more paranoid Masters were even concerned that he may fall to the Dark Side, though such an event was highly unlikely. Still, he had passed the trials and his teacher was a trusted ally, so they went through with it, albeit reluctantly. It's been three years since then, and Tagali is still trying to get a handle on his new responsibilities as a Knight. This isn't helped by the fact that, just a couple months ago, a significant portion of his clan disappeared after attempting to flee Chad before the Sith started claiming Outer Rim territories. The news has been weighing on him for quite some time now, though he has yet to investigate it yet. After all, he has more pressing obligations at the moment and, as impulsive as he is, he's not willing to head straight into Sith space to do so. In light of the encroaching threat of Rath Skorrow, Tagali has been drafted into the elite strike team charged with nipping this potential disaster at the bud. While the Council wasn't exactly eager to add him to the roster, his skills with the Force cannot be denied. And besides, Master Madurr muses, he just might learn something.

[up]Comin' right at ya, buddy. Here you go Sullen, I fleshed it out with all the stuff I didn't want to lose half an hour of sleep over yesterday.

  • Name: HK-74 (Unit #9348). Flesh-based races find it easier to call him by his codename, Zaram, due to systems registering his digital signature as a fictional protocol droid series, ZR-4M.
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: None, but programmed with a somewhat passive-aggressive sounding male voice. Normally refereed to as "it" or "he".
  • Species: Class 4 Hunter-Killer Droid
  • Appearance: Just a regular old protocol droid, yesiree.
  • Class: Scoundrel/Insurance Policy
  • Abilities and Equipment: As an HK droid, he is able to speak millions of languages, a built-in comlink, multiple vision modes, programming that allows him to use any weapons with deadly precision, repair and slicing capabilities, and has a distinct lack of fleshy bits. Despite being made from Durasteel and Mandalorian iron, he appears to be a regular protocol droid.
    • Weapons: A Bothan Shrieker and Heavy Blaster Pistol secreted away in his body. In the event that a mission requires their uses, despite their overtness, there'll be at least one Droid Assassin's rifle, flamethrower, energy shield, sniper rifle, and carbonite projector, in the ship's armory.
    • Grenades: Can inconspicuously carry six grenades, of which his standard loadout is three poison grenades, two thermal detonators, and one CryoBan, and can utilize them as remote detonators.
    • "Integrated modular weapon mounts"
  • Personality: While sentient, its intelligence routines adapt to seem like less of a threat to others, while always doing what is best for the success of the mission, self-preservation, and the safety of other task force members... in that order. When not using one of its masked personalities, its speech has an unusually high amount of irony for a droid, and a tendency to lean towards implications of eradication.
    • Clandestine Directives: Because the Sith have a propensity for turning meatbags, particularly Jedi, the actual reason he was assigned to the task force was to . These directives have priority over all other directives, except for his primary one: completing the mission.
      • Clandestine Directive 1: Exterminate any task force member who betrays the Republic.
      • Clandestine Directive 2: Maintain one poison grenade and enough energy for at least three shots of Bothan Shrieker in the event of a Jedi turning to the dark side.
      • Clandestine Directive 3: Unless immediate termination is required, work covertly and do not alert others to this unit's objectives, using extermination methods capable of being attributed to mechanical failure of an airlock.
      • Clandestine Directive 4: If the unit's termination is imminent, overload the weapons, power core, and anything else that can hold a charge, activate all grenades, and kill the target, regardless of potential collateral damage.
      • Clandestine Directive 5: To prevent death of other task force members despite this unit's termination, set up routines in the ship and other task force member's communicators with a dead-man's trigger, alerting them to this unit's findings.
  • Background: The HK-74 line of Assassin Droids was developed as throwback to the successful HK-24 and HK-50 assassin droids of the previous Sith Wars, and looks somewhat similar, despite nearly twenty-five centuries of engineering refinements. Though it can only conceal a few small weapons, its disguise as a protocol droid allowed this particular unit to carry out numerous assassination and infiltration missions for the Republic. It spent a few years in a test run, assassinating criminals, diplomats, spies, and the occasional mistress, to prove that this line of assassin droids was more than capable of handling itself, after which its assignments shifted towards hunting and killing Sith operatives and rogue Jedi.
Because of the tension between the Republic and the Jedi Council, this unit was assigned to the task force by wary Republic leaders as a safeguard against the Jedi, as well as a way to avoid traitors preying on other task force member's minds, emotions, and "feelings". While his official role is infiltration, assassination, and covert operations, his programming has contingencies to deal with possible mission hindrances.

Here goes

•Name: Nog Slurrn

•Age: 30

•Gender: Male

•Species: Shistavanean Wolfman

•Appearance: Looks like a typical Wolfman with orange pants and a white shirt with criss-crossed bandoliers for his slugthrower.

EDIT: Here is a picture of what he would look like, sans the robes and lightsaber and with yellow eyes

•Class: Soldier

•Abilities and Equipment: One of the most accurate sharpshooters among the Wolfmen. Carries a slugthrower rifle and a small knife concealed in his boots

•Personality: Slurrn has been haredened by years of mercenary work and an unhappy childhood. He is a loner by choice but will interact with others if a mission requires. Gruff and aloof, Nog is nevertheless a Friend to All Children. Or cublings, as the wolfmen call their young. He is not above killing innocents in order to acheive his goals but has, thus far, restrained from doing so. He is loyal to nothing except his current employer, the almighty credit, and his people. Like most Wolfmen, Nog Slurrn hates humans but, as noted above, will work with them if a mission requires it and will get along fairly well with human children. He is also quite stubborn and determined; if an employer wants a task done, no being will work as hard as Slurrn to get it done.

•Background: Raised by an abusive father, Nog Slurrn decided to use his inner anger to become a mercenary as soon as he left home. He became quite well-known after a Hutt crimelord hired him and several other mercenaries to defend his palace from a rival crime lord. While the other mercenaries were slaughtered, Nog held his ground and held off the attack and ultimately defeated the rival crimelord. This incident acheived much exposure, which has kept the Republic very interested in him.
