I haven't read any of the Night Angel stuff, but I read The Black Prism on a recommendation from a friend and quite enjoyed it. Picked up The Blinding Knife from the library recently, so we'll see how that goes.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Currently re-reading The Night Angel Trilogy; dear God these are packed with foreshadowing and Call Backs. Hopefully I can start The Lightbringer Series come Christmas time.

PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyBeen reading The Blinding Knife and enjoying it, except for one thing. Liv has had the Idiot Ball in a deathgrip since the end of The Black Prism, and the stupidity of it strains my suspension of disbelief.
Ironically, Gavin himself says it best in The Blinding Knife. "Idealists mature badly. If they can't outgrow their idealism, they become hypocrites or blind. Liv has chosen blindness, fixating so much on the Chromeria's flaws that she believes those who oppose it must be paragons." So very, very stupid, and I find myself wishing some karmic justice inflicted on her. I honestly can't figure out a satisfying conclusion for her, but I'm hoping that Weeks surprises me.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Just finished book 3: "the broken eye".
This series needs a LOT of love!
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!How was it? I was honestly pretty disappointing with The Blinding Knife, mostly because of how absurdly dark it got. Does book three ease up on that at all?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Have read The Black Prism and found it's world building and magic system fascinating. Have read the first two thirds of Night Angel and have third in my pile.
Trump delenda estYou could say that The Broken Eye is the... eye... of the hurricane. In my opinion, it never gets quite as dark as The Blinding Knife, but it is a book by Brent Weeks and if you expect a book by him to not be dark you are either a fool or a liar. It's definitely the most political book Weeks has written, in the sense that Andross takes center stage as the primary antagonist while the vast majority of events involving anyone not at the Chromeria is left offscreen, with the sole exception of Gavin. In fact, without counting Gavin's portion of the story, there are only 7 chapters in the book that don't take place on the Jaspers. And there are 97 chapters in the book (99 if you count the two-part epilogue), although several range from very-to-relatively short.
Specifically in regards to Liv (major spoiler in second sentence of spoiler text): She has exactly three chapters in the book. And in her last, she quite explicitly turns against the Color Prince and becomes a rogue Spanner in the Works against all parties.
Now, with that out of the way: Orholam's balls; that ending! Brent Weeks you magnificent bastard, I read your book!!!

PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyI pretty much gave up on this series because I found the ending to The Blinding Knife so damned annoying, but I recently picked up The Broken Eye because I happened to see it in the library and decided what the hell.
It was really good, except for the whole Color Prince side of things being mostly Out of Focus. Until the end, which managed to piss me off even more than The Blinding Knife's did. Seriously, when you insist on sucker punching your characters any time anything even remotely positive happens, then it's a toss up between whether Only The Author Can Save Us Now or Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy strikes first.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I do agree Weeks went a bit too hard with Diabolus ex Machina at the end, especially in regards to Gavin. And to be frank, Andross is pushing my Villain Sue tolerance. That said, Hammerfist and Karris are the definition of glory.
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyI just finished the Night Angel Trilogy. It's not bad.
So the cover for the last lightbringer book is released, i hope that means it isnĀ“t that much longer until we have a release date

The part with "every truth shines a light" sounds again rather silly, but i like the design (altough the cover for the broken eye is by far my favourite)

Necroooooo....
So don't know if anyone else is still following Lightbringer, but the final book (for real this time), The Burning White, is slated to release on October 22. Also, the first two chapters are available on Weeks' site.
While I didn't care as much for Kip's portion of The Blood Mirror as I did his stuff in the earlier books, I still enjoyed Teia and Gavin's storylines well enough - though I need to reread the series in light of the big reveal to settle how I feel about Gavin being an Unreliable Narrator (and everything even tangentially related to that) before the finale comes out.

Brent Weeks, noted author of The Night Angel Trilogy and the The Lightbringer Trilogy. The second book of LBT, The Blinding Knife was released recently.
Discuss.
Personally, I thought NAT was weak, but the magic system in LBT was much more thought out.
I await the third book "the Blood Mirror" and the answering to ALL of my zillion questions :D
