My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic SPOILER TALK THREAD

Somber was smiling in his picture in the flash game, despite being a lord of sadness. Two theories about this.

1. He's stealing happiness from the Crystal Ponies

2. At one point he will smile, and thank the pony responsible, since he hasn't smiled in a long time (this could be either sincere or sinister).

I think King Somber feeds on sadness. It's similar to Queen Chrysalis and her changelings feeding on the power of love.

This King Somber guy looks like the show's take on depression, and I don't like it.

I see more a tyrant who controls his slave-subjects through the Sons Of the Patriots System.

I think Cadence being in charge of them is all but confirmed. In the description, it says that the Macguffin they;re looking for is the "Crystal Heart." Note Cadence's cutie mark. Also, she has a similarly-shaded mane.

My current query is if Crytal Ponies are a new "species" (like pegasus or unicorn), or just a variant.

I'd guess variety.

Then again, did we see any non-Earth Ponies as Crystal Ponies?

Also, I saw a Youtube comment on a fanmade theme for this guy that wrote an absolutely awfully spelled and grammar'd post saying how Somber looked like "every twice pony oc on deviantart" and said he wanted to kill Hasbro because of it. It was also top comment at the moment.

Youtube never changes. I'm gonna go see if it really is that easy to troll them.

Discord wasn't much of a villain, he was basically "Look at all the goofy shit I can do!"

Guy was about as dangerous as Mr. Mxyzptlk.

He kind of disrupted literally every aspect of society.

Uh, Discord was kinda totally dangerous. He basically ripped a hole in reality and was powerful enough that he ignored Celestia and Luna's abilities, and pretty much turned the entire cast evil. The only reason reality didn't become a nightmare is because he was only around for a few days.

Plus he canonically ruled as cruel tyrant in the past so probably after a few days he would have gotten bored of his mischief and progressed to more horrible terrible things.

So does Mxyzptlk.

While I agree that Discord is more similar in general disposition to Mr Mxyzptlk in general disposition rather then the oft compared Q, he definitely was a threat.

So are we really confirmed for Sombra? Because I still haven't heard from anyone higher as to his name being anything other then Somber.

He is a rather pathetic joke character despite his power. So in that respect he is not like Discord.

Then Mxyzptlk is a dangerous villain too. Just because a character acts silly and ridiculous doesn't mean they aren't causing massive damage.

"Sombra" makes sense. It's like a combination of "somber" and "umbra."

Sombra is also Spanish for shadow. And would be a cool Luchador name.
