Check out that first question. If the next Dot P has Commander, I want a boss fight against Richard Garfield (even though it would be nigh-impossible to program).

Technically, the very first sentence in the first answer ("There are no definitive answers for Unhinged cards other than "what would be funnier?"") is wrong, because there are definite answers.

MaRo is the official Silver-Bordered Rules Manager (not making that up) and very often answers ruling questions about Un-Set cards on his tumblr. So what he says about any given card is the definite answer.

@Idler:

Fungus Elemental is an amusing card; it's like someone tried to fix Wood Elemental but managed only to produce something mediocre instead of actually good.
"Someone" was Mark Rosewater, and he wrote about it in one of his most famous articles.

How broken would Richard Garfield be as a commander?

I did that, actually, with cards I had "lying around". Several of them being 0-costing artifacts.

It's an interesting deck. It falls squarely into Difficult, but Awesome, as occasionally you have no idea what's gonna happen, but... well, one game ended with the guy using the deck (I'd loaned it to him for a match) playing half the Power Nine on me.

Johnny, Combo Player would be a heck of a commander.

[up][up]"Hello planeswalkers. Look at your hand, now back at mine, now back at your hand, now back at mine. Sadly, it isn't mine, but if you stopped using Azami and switched to Richard Garfield, you could act like it's mine."
"Look down, back up. Where are you? You're in a GP side event with the hand your hand could act like! What's in your hand? Back at me. I have it. It's a Memnite cast as that Mox you love. Look again, the Mox is now a Black Lotus! Anything is possible if you use Richard Garfield and not Azami. I'm on a goat."

Decklists for the into packs. Its odd how Nefarox's deck looks so much like his Dot P incarnation, yet most of the others go off on completely different tangents. I know that Nefarox is the only one rocking the same colors, but still... Where are Yeva's Roaring Primadoxes, or Elvish Visionaries for that matter?

Man.

I have a lot of terrible Modern decks in my Cockatrice deck folder.

I guess it is.

If not, anyone got daft deck ideas?

Room's up.

Edit: Seriously?

Well, the room will still be up when you've finished.

Double edit: stabilising against aggro at 8 life and then going on to amass an obscenely large horde of angry 5/6 or better monsters is pretty damn fun, especially when you carve the enemy army apart with Warstorm Surge's ETB cannon.

Mmmmmmh... Delicious B/W Exalted precon deck. I think I'm going to start with this, and then upgrade it when Ravnica is out. Or maybe I'll look into the Innistrad block, there was some good black cards in there.

So I finally managed to find the UG intro deck for AVR. Given a day or so, I'll have a "cards I actually have" soulbond deck to accompany my "hey this mechanic is awesome" soulbond deck.

Is anyone up for some violence?

Okay, let's play to celebrate BT finally fixing my Internet after me spending the whole day without it.

EDIT: Urgh, it's telling me my Cockatrice client is obsolete. Why does this keep happening?

Hello paper-players, I have a trade question.

I want a Gisela. I have a Restoration Angel. Is this trade fair, or do I have to throw in something like Thunderous Wrath to equalize?

Depends on what formats your group play.

Nah, I'm gonna go to one of the Local Game Stores here and strike up a trade with people. I'm the only one in my playgroup currently actively buying/trading stuff.

Here's the trade-ables I have:

  • Angel of Jubilation
  • Restoration Angel
  • Silverblade Paladin
  • Infinite Reflection

I use Star City Games for price comparisons.

Gisela is $8 and Restoration Angel is $12, so feel free to pull out some cheap rares from whoever you're trading with.

Yeah, Restoration Angel is the more valuable card. Turns out being four-of playable in the best deck in Standard as well as at least one tier 1 Modern deck makes up for being rare rather than mythic.

I guess it is.

Me a few days ago: Man, the Magic thread is really dead today.

Me going to post something today: Oh. There's a new thread for whatever silly reason. That makes sense.

Okay, fine, spoiler policy and all that I get. But why was there a need to create a new thread entirely? I miss the old, crazy-long thread; couldn't that have just been the new spoiler-free thread?

But eh, whatever. Moving on: I want to try and throw together a Grixis Delver list in Modern. Any overlooked gems I should be playing in there? I'm tempted to put in a Kiln Fiend, just to make it super-swingy with something like Distortion Strike or Artful Dodge.

My padawan is picking up Magic quite nicely. Excellent. I think next I will teach her some rudimentary deckbuilding.
