Season 3 also fails at the villains. Noodle Burger Boy is a comic relief villain. Key word is relief. He doesn't exactly command a strong threatening presence like other comical villains like Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2.

Megan doesn't appear at all in Season 3 and its shorter then the other two seasons. I think it's safe to say that the show for the most part really ended at Season 2. The Graduation Ceremony was the Finale. Season 3 was just an overextended epilogue. Especially when one takes into account how many villains ended up redeemed in the end.

Hastily redeeming villains or definitively defeating them (or in a less optimistic series, killing them) to get rid of hanging plotlines is a typical thing for series that are ending and feel the need to tie up everything in a nice bow.

I honestly wouldn't have minded Megan's sudden disappearance if the show wasn't trying to be cute about it later and almost brag about how they got rid of her in favor of Karmi. That just felt weirdly mean-spirited.

I liked the idea of the villain redemptions, especially as it feels like a way of tying up some loose ends. The issue is that the show had some weird priorities over who we get to see. High Voltage and the Mad Jacks get redeemed off-screen, but we spend an episode with Mr. Sparkles? Also, Sirque being jailed off-screen and Hardlight being easily defeated in his second appearance kind of adds to the theory that they had to cut short some of their plans with them.

Given that Karmi's barely in this season either, I don't think it was a function of getting rid of one to favor the other, as much as them going "we're not gonna follow up on either of these characters' storylines, but the shipping stuff is popular, so let's just have one show up in an episode but not develop it any further than that, mention the other one in the process and call it a day."

Or in short, we're lucky Karmi showed up at all tbh.

I'm also a little annoyed that we didn't get much in the way of world building. Ever since they mentioned Austanbul, I honestly was waiting for them to explore that more. Mainly because I wanted to see the Texas State Capitol be built in the style of the Hagia Sophia.

Personally, the real finale was Season 2, and if you treated Season 3 as the "wacky adventures" they're suppose to be, it make it a little less maddening.

But yeah, going from a plot-driven arc style for the first 2 seasons and then a comedic, episodic style for Season 3, for the most part, just didn't work.

I'm convinced that there was suppose to be another season after this, but I have no evidence to back that up. It seems like they got the notice that they were getting cancelled halfway through making the season and had to wrap things up.

About the villains: I'm trying to think about how many actual villains Big Hero 6 had left now...

Reformed - Noodle Burger Boy and his family, High Voltage, Mad Jacks, Mr. Sparkles, Nega-Globby (sort of), Globby, (has been for a while), Mechadonna (comics)

In Prison - Sirque, El Fuego, Trina (as far as we know), Yama, Cobra (probably), Alex Morimoto (comics), Di Amara

Whereabouts Unknown - Momakase, Supersonic Sue, Supersonic Stu, Baron Von Steamer, Liv Amara

I added the comic characters, but to be honest, I'd be shocked if that continued at all. I also feel like I'm forgetting someone...

[up][up]Yeah, given that the E Ps said that the season wouldn't have much of an overreaching plot, we should be happy Karmi was there at all. Heck, even NBB's whole schtick wasn't much of a plot given the randomness of the episodes.

Which personally makes the exclusion of the Cruzes all the more confusing.

I like to think that Momakase just decided to leave town. Get even with Big Hero 6 and go to a big city where she can rob without getting caught. Sounds like the smart, if a bit boring, thing to do. Especially since the heroes are so limited geographically.

Yeah, that does sound like a possibility.

What would even be keeping Momakase in town, anyway? You have a superhero team that keeps besting you. You have your family swords back. You can probably find even more expensive stuff in other major cities. Why San Fransokyo?

Kinda makes you wonder what deal Hiro make with Momakase to take down NBB...

[up][up][up] You missed Di Amara. I haven't even read the comics, but I know the release schedule was a complete mess for them.

[up] I just assumed she was doing him a favor after he helped her get her family swords. That episode didn't make it sound like she owed him one, though, and the finale never actually says what the favor entails.

Oh yeah, how did I forget about her? It's almost like the shared the mindset of the show of completely forgetting about her after "City of Monsters".

I remember being certain she was going to show up again for a "last hurrah" episode, since we never saw what her "masterpiece" mutation.

Maybe her last mutation was going to be Liv directly.

Now that I'm thinking about it, that would be pretty messed up, considering she was trying to cure her.

It was supposed to be Hiro, iirc. I figured she'd get a return episode where she ended up mutating herself instead, big battle, yadda yadda.

I would've liked some off-screen lore building at least. Mention something about the real Liv making amends for what happened and closing down Sycorax or something. We already know Di (and likely Chris) are still in prison. We don't even know if Sycorax even closed or not because it was all Fred's junk food-induced dream.

You'd have to think that at the very least the Sycorax building would be closed down. That part of the dream must have some semblance of what actually happened.

Part of me thinks that Liv went into hiding because she's distraught about what happened in her absence.

Is it just me, or did they really dial up Fred's lack of common sense this season? He was directly responsible for at least three threats, and even made the same mistake in "Noodle Burger Ploy" that he did in "De-Based".

Given what they were trying to do this season, yeah. This was the wacky comedy season. Fred's was already the comic relief. Subsequently, Character Exaggeration.

I like to joke about how, ironically, Fred went somewhat in the opposite direction of TJ Miller's (well, initially TJ Miller anyway) other "joke part of an ensemble character:" Tuffnut. While the HTTYD movies and tv shows eventually figured out how to balance Tuffnut and Ruffnut as both the weirdo comic relief and significant and experienced parts of their groups, Fred increasingly became The Load despite being sort of competent at first.

The HTTYD TV shows had a hard time balancing Tuffnut and Ruffnut for a good while though, Tuff hogged all the attention between them for the first two seasons. I always wondered if the show-runners ended up putting a lot of ad libs by TJ Miller as gags, which created the imbalance.

It seems like Big Hero 6 characters might show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I follow a bunch of Disney news sites, but I don't know any of them well enough to know how genuine that is offhand. Still, if true, I'm surprised it took them this long. BH 6 is a Marvel property after all, and that's just free synergy.

But like...Jamie Chung as Go Go, though.

[up][up][up] Heard about it not long ago. Still going through the "wait, what?!" phase.

Kinda reminds me of what WB did regarding Supergirl. A while back, they announced that the Supergirl series was ending. Just recently (like earlier this week or the week before), they announced Supergirl would be in the Flash movie.

Big Hero 6: The Series recently concluded and now we're getting word that the BH6 will be in the MCU? Highly suspect...

That said, we still have that Baymax CG series coming to Disney+, so the CG BH6 isn't quite unalive.

Most likely scenario: we see the team in something to do with the multiverse, like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Maybe we'll get a proper Earth designation for the team as they are in the Disney movie, like Earth-7281538 or something.

Other possible scenario: we actually get live-action, Truer to the Text versions of the team in the MCU as Japan's answer to the Avengers since the OG team either went to space, got retired, or passed on. The Disney movie did take some liberties here and there. Maybe it's how we'll get the Silver Samurai. (Almost added Sunspot, but I was thinking of Sunfire.)

It is weird, but even some of the former writers/producers of the show are hearing this news and finding it a little suspect.

As of right now, it's just a rumor. And we're probably at least a year out before we'll know anything definitive.

Yeah, that's a fair point. The world is still starting to pull itself together and WandaVision has the internet going crazy with theories as it is.

Ultimately, we just need to wait for an official announcement. And if the OG BH6 writers and producers are saying it all seems sus, then that makes things trickier...
