Alright. They haven't touched on Familiars much where I am in Fate/Zero, so if that thing isn't some sort of clowny doomsday device I figure it's pretty cool actually.

Nope. It's nowhere near the destructive power of most N Ps. It probably couldn't even destroy a small street or a hotel lobby. It's... not exactly that kind of tool, per se. I'd like to keep it a secret, but it's not much more spectacular than your average familiar.

You should at least tell Ragna, but yeah, I think its fine without even knowing what's inside.

Kara No Kyoukai has talk about familiars if you want it.

Jackie can match Jessica in 1v1. And I think this guy's more supposed to be a Badass Abnormal like Kiritsugu, not full on superhuman. Unless I'm misinterpreting Ragna...

It's a shame Jesse James already has a Servant. I bet she and Fafnir would get along well. Or quarrel endlessly over the hoard of treasure.

Two questions. One, how much do I need to know about FSN (or the Nasuverse in general) to participate? And two, is this alive?

Well, there is probably around dozen posts a day (sometimes more, sometimes less,depending on who is online and how much time does he have) so I would say it is pretty active.

About how much knowledge about Nasuverse you need...I don't know, watching the anime at least (either the old F/SN anime, or the new Fate/Zero) would help.

Is this still open for people to sign up? If so, and I wanted to play a master how would I try to get a currently unused Servant?

Yes it is still open.

You would do so by posting a Master application, in the format set in the OP and then wait till he is approved by G Ms. Once that is done, simply contact the creator of the unclaimed Servant you are interested in, and ask him if he doesn't want to pair up.

Personality: He generally seems very quiet and reserved, but occaisionally shows a very morbid sense of humor. He is typically very critical of himself, and will drop self-effacing comments as a way to try to distance himself from any praise, and typically suffers from an Imposter Phenominon, never being able to internalize accomplishments.

Abilities: Elemental Affinity-Void, specialty in Spirits Origin: Information

Mystic Code: The Oracle’s Skull-An ancient artifact taken from the ruins at Delphi, the skull serves as a focus for Nicolas to summon spirits and as a vessel to contain them. Combined with his origin, information, Nicolas is able to glean information from the spirits contained within, essentially making it a vast encyclopedia of information which can constantly be added to by familiars and newly acquired spirits such as knowledge about spells, or the location of people relayed through familiars.

Spells: Shared Perception, Transference of Consciousness, Spirit Control, some knowledge of Formalcraft

Bio: Nicolas is the son of a minor magical bloodline of wind specialists, one which is dying out rapidly. As the oldest child, he was supposed to be the heir but try as he might, he was seemingly without affinity, unable to work any of the elements as expected, and quite simply couldn’t grasp the workings of spells. Although he had already activated his Magic Circuits, the family Crest would go to his younger sister. Deemed a failure, he wasn’t considered worth putting the effort of additional magical training and was allowed to roam the modern world. What he found astonished him: there was so much information out there that he had never heard of. With careful research, he managed to find tomes of Formalcraft, rituals that required magic circles and sacrifices which preempted the need to completely understand a spell’s workings. It was from this that Nicolas was able to assemble a patchwork education for himself. He slowly learned that while he couldn’t manifest magecraft to influence the physical world, abstract concepts were easier to manipulate.

Nicolas slowly moved to spirits, calling and controlling the minor animal and human spirits, soon finding an aptitude for skills that involved the transfer of information, such as familiars. Using his family ties, he acquired an ancient skull. Using it as a focus, he conjured up a spirit of intellect, a fae bound to the skull who supplied him with information about Formalcraft to assist him, in exchange for being fed with the knowledge of other minor spirits. With the success, determined to prove himself, Nicolas is looking to enter the Holy Grail War.

Assets: Meager apartment, spellbooks and a great deal of accumulated knowledge on magic and spirits through the Spirit of Intellect.
