Yeah, we should just throw out hands in disbelief and just know this storyline and others will be extremely stupid and crappy.

I'm sure the pendulum will swing back to Marvel's corner eventually; it always does. Might take a while, though.

Apparently, she was a staff member of the Avengers Academy and, according to Wikipedia, "returns to her duties at the reopened Academy".

Huh if that forum post is right then Ironheart really does represent Bendis' daughter.

If so, I fucking knew it.

That /co/ stuff could be true, could be false but it just still means Alonso needs to go as editor.

I'm sure the pendulum will swing back to Marvel eventually, remember when DC couldn't do anything right?

One thing that caught my interest in that post is that, assuming it's true, Marvel plans on not using HYDRA for a while after SE due to the backlash.

I guess my thoughts on that post is how much of that could even be verifiable? The only thing that is yet to pass is the team line-ups and that might be speculation.

Like, the HYDRA going away for awhile afterwards makes sense because that's pretty much what happens after every event of this kind. Osborn went away for awhile after Siege, the Skrull went away after Secret Invasion, Wanda went away for awhile after House of M, etc etc.

The report once again cites the "The X-Men books aren't allowed to create new characters" thing that could be disproven with literally 10 seconds of google. One of the main characters in Generation X is a new mutant created for the book.

[up]I think there's been more than a dozen mutants created after that false report, that's the funny thing.

Supposedly that quote came from Claremont himself.

Who then soon created a couple new mutants for his Nightcrawler run. Is he going a bit loopy with age?

Obviously late on this discussion but that Worlds Collide cover seems to take a lot of visual cues from "Crisis Between Earth One and Earth Two". Y'know. That one Justice League/Justice Society team up story where some cosmic being decided to warp people between the two Earths which causes said Earths to collide with one another?

God I love these Crisis stories from the Silver Age. They just get bigger with each year. My favorite has to be one involving the Seven Soldiers of Victory. Seriously, DC should bring back that team in some way. Maybe in their comics or maybe in the next season of Arrow.

[up][up]Also doesn't he work rather infrequently? Even if the "No new X-Men characters!" rumor weren't provably false, I doubt Claremont would be privy to the inner workings of the company anyway.

Does Perlmutter count as alt-right or just an extreme rightwinger of a more traditional kind? The alt-right are notoriously anti-Semitic and Perlmutter is Jewish.

So hey, I'll just throw my two cents:

  • If that tell-all (is that what it is?) is true, then that means all those X-Men books like Jean Grey, Iceman, etc. are only having 12 issues. I can imagine quite a few people taking issue with that.
  • So Bendis has/had plans for Batman, and on the off-chance he leaves Marvel, he's able to spill some beans regarding what top brass thinks of his adopted black daughter's favorite superhero (which is probably Riri) and something tells me it's nothing good.
  • There's an idea for a new Ultimates book featuring most of the Champions minus Viv? Huh, if that's true, what's gonna happen to Viv?
  • Not using HYDRA sounds like a good call, especially after the big effed-up kerfuffle that is Secret Empire.
  • What the heck is "FNSM"? I would imagine the "SM" part means "Spider-Man", but what's "FN"?
  • So the top brass at Marvel really hates that Claremont essentially gave Fox a goldmine of ideas for X-Men spin-offs. I mean, I can kinda see it as Marvel being worried that Fox will just half-ass all those ideas or otherwise just mess them up royally, but isn't Marvel's actions on the comics front a case of "screwing the pooch"? (Yes, I saw Homecoming yesterday. WORTH. IT.)

FN - Friendly Neighborhood. That new line that was launched recently.

Personally, I'm suffering Hype Backlash towards Homecoming. I'm still gonna probably see it... but meh. Really meh.

Could you tell me why in a spoiler-free fashion? Because from the previews, I see nothing but red flags of a typical "a couple jokes and a lame villain" MCU movie, with a "Daddy Tony Stark" on top of that.

[up]x2 Basically, do you remember how awesome Michael Keaton was when he played Batman back in the 80s? It apply to this movie, making him one of the few MCU villains that are not only awesome but actually had character. The last one to do this was Kingpin from Daredevil . . . who is also a Spider Man villain.

Wow, just think how awesome Doctor Octopus would be in the future Spider Man movie! It better involve him forming the Sinister Six for real unlike the Amazing series.

@Targetmaster Joe "If that tell-all (is that what it is?) is true, then that means all those X-Men books like Jean Grey, Iceman, etc. are only having 12 issues. I can imagine quite a few people taking issue with that."

Good, those were the weakest books. Especially Iceman for not only making him look weak (seriously, he is an Omega Level mutant) but also making him a cliche gay character rather than just himself only gay now.

"So Bendis has/had plans for Batman, and on the off-chance he leaves Marvel, he's able to spill some beans regarding what top brass thinks of his adopted black daughter's favorite superhero (which is probably Riri) and something tells me it's nothing good." Good call. Man the whole Riri thing was a trainwreck.

"There's an idea for a new Ultimates book featuring most of the Champions minus Viv? Huh, if that's true, what's gonna happen to Viv?" To Promising New Character Purgatory! She's going to spend time with the New X Men, Avengers Academy, Skaar, Hope Summers, and those two gay guys who I really liked but glad aren't in the current Marvel comics given their state. Also that idea: oh God, no! Ultimates was the closest thing to a Fantastic Four comic for me (at least until the team comes back). Don't ruin it!

"Not using HYDRA sounds like a good call, especially after the big effed-up kerfuffle that is Secret Empire." Yeah, the group really is oversaturated. Give me AIM, dammit!

"What the heck is "FNSM"? I would imagine the "SM" part means "Spider-Man", but what's "FN"?" I think somebody already answered that.

"So the top brass at Marvel really hates that Claremont essentially gave Fox a goldmine of ideas for X-Men spin-offs. I mean, I can kinda see it as Marvel being worried that Fox will just half-ass all those ideas or otherwise just mess them up royally, but isn't Marvel's actions on the comics front a case of "screwing the pooch"? (Yes, I saw Homecoming yesterday. WORTH. IT.)" Hey, you (Marvel) are the assholes who allowed Claremont to create teams like the New Mutants, X Factor, and Excalibur. You got nobody to blame but your self. Though Marvel should also be pissed off at Lee, Bryne, Nicieza and (especially) Liefeld for all the shit they contribute to the X Men mythos.
