Could've sworn the amount of refunds they had would've made a far bigger dent then what was officially reported, especially since Sony themselves locked CDPR out of their digital store until further notice.

It's not surprising. Complaining and saying you'll get a refund is easy. Getting a refund actually takes work.

Those refunds barely made a dent on the developer's earnings, though. As Ars Technica notes, the "Other Provisions" section of the company's full financial report (PDF) reveals that it spent $10.65 million in refund made through digital and physical retailers in 2020, as well as $2.23 million in direct refunds made through its own "Help me Refund" campaign. If the company spent $60 per copy, then it processed 215,000 refunds in all, or about 1.6 percent of the total units sold. CDPR also expects an additional loss of $38.34 million for additional refunds and lost sales, including the impact of the game's continued absence from the PS Store, this year.

Another article says that the far bigger dent in Cyberpunk was from lost expected sales from the PS 4 store.

But generally people did play the game and didn't worry about getting a refund. Mostly because people wanted...to play the game. Hence why they bought it.

Datamining I and some others have done suggests that Pacifica was likely walled off in expectation of multiplayer being set there. Some data suggests there were to be team fight and horde combat modes which would make much more sense sequestered off in the Combat Zone of Pacifica.

However, I've done a ton of exploration and I've yet to actually encounter that many invisible walls. Pacifica has a bunch, but most of the rest of the city doesn't. Grabbing the double jump legs really opens up the verticality of the locations and makes them far easier to explore.

Also, QA Internal was updating all day this week until Friday. I'm expecting a drop next week; Hotfix or DLC Update #1. No idea which.

Yeah I'm still playing, and can't wait for the DLC. I'm also totally stealing some elements (like food and drink names) for my game of Cyberpunk RED lol.

Also I'm using the basis of the quest A Like Supreme for a future session, only instead of Johnny taking over someone else's body for a night to play with reunited SAMURAI, it's my Rockergirl (notoriously obsessed with SAMURAI and Johnny Silverhand) filling in for him with a reunited SAMURAI. Game has a lot of elements to borrow from.

Patch 1.22 came out.

https://wccftech.com/cyberpunk-2077-patch-1-22-performance/

Indications are that they're now going to start moving to new content so presumably these four months of bug fixing are the only things we're going to get.

I'm unsure what you mean by 'only thing we're going to get'. I mean, there'll be plenty of patches over the next year as any game.

It's no surprise they're moving forward with content. It's been inproduction since November and the free DL Cs as well as the bulk of expansion 1 is probably done. And if those Free DL Cs are expected to drop before Expansion 1...

I just wish it would drop already and I slightly suspect CDPR feels similar. We got 1.2 over a month ago. Two weeks later we get 1.21. Then 1.22 this past week.

I get the impression CDPR wants 2077 back on the Playstation store before dropping content. I have no reservations saying I don't have proof, but I feel like they though 1.2 would do the trick. Then it didn't and we got 1.21 two weeks later... and then 1.22 two weeks after that in a 'hotfix'. Aren't hotfixes usually something you put out within days of a patch, not enough time after to be a patch of its own? And it's still not back on the store either. I think they're trying to get 2077 over the hump to be allowed on the PS Store and it's not working.

And that's a problem if CDPR wants it on the PS Store first, but not getting there is holding back a blocked content pipeline. Like, all those Free Witcher 3 DL Cs dropped between May of 2015 and August/Steptember 2015 right before Hearts of Stone before going into a content drought until Blood and Wine in May 2016.

To frame that reference onto 2077, I'm expecting the first major Paid DLC to be in June/July. We're edging up onto nearly 6 months of the game being out and no content dropping.

I'm kinda just posting this here cuz I keep having to remove it from the works page, but 'Death By Adaptation' does not apply to Kei Arasaka. He died in the final installment of Cyberpunk 2020 after the 2023 Arasaka Raid. Basically the last page of the book.

"After his compound was rushed and all his guards killed, Kei had then lost everything. Kei was visited by Spider Murphy wearing a kimono, alone with Rogue and Shaitan, on his ship the Sea Viper. They shared sake together, as she explained his failure to the corporation, his family, and himself. His own nation had turned on him and Murphy took advantage of it. She appealed to Kei's samurai roots and convinced him "seppuku" was the only way to restore honor to his family and everything they built. Kei reluctantly agreed by uploading his consciousness into a digital prison, using the Soulkiller device she had mentioned. Kei died, ending the war and restoring his honor." Per the Cyberpunk Wiki though I could track down the actual Cyberpunk book if it really needs to be.

[up] ...how in the fuck didn't Arasaka pull Kei back out in 2077 if the technology was theirs anyway?

Unless that's DLC content.

Almost done with my current playthrough. Gotta say, for all it's flaws I like the game, and it's a preem source to get session ideas for my Cyberpunk RED TTRPG group.

Though I gotta say I love playing Chloe Chaos WAY more than V. Not merely because Chloe's not on borrowed time, but V can't convince fans to fight people for her lol.

A porn actress. Don't ask how I know. That also confused the hell out of me. "The hell does a pornstar have to do with Cyberpunk?"

He wasn't uploaded into Mikoshi, far as I'm aware, because Spider and Rogue wouldn't have access to doing that.

Even if they did... pull him out to what? There was nothing to pull him out to and killing him only to then... give him some new body would defeat the purpose of dying to restore honor? He wouldn't be sacrificing anything?

Yeah Chloe is my Rockergirl in our tabletop group. Didn't know the name was shared with a porn actress lol.

Man, kind of disappointed the Malorian Arms 3516 maxes out at such a low damage amount.

They took that refund thing personally.

Theory goes that CDPR doesn't want to release Free DLC until it does get back on the store. That 1.2 was supposed to get it back on... and then it didn't so they tried 1.21 two weeks later... and then it didn't so they tried 1.22 two weeks after that and... it still hasn't.

My assumption is that Sony put conditions and specifications on where the game needs to be at to be back on their store and their decade old hardware just can't get there with 2077 pushing the console to it's limits.

Also, storm likely incoming...

The data from the February Hack has made it's way onto the web and is being released. So... that'll be making news rounds I bet.

I also can all but confirm... yeah, it seems extremely likely that Paid DLC will be this year. While that seems a 'duh' statement to me, there are a lot of people claiming that we won't get DLC until 2022 which is unheard of entirely for a AAA Game release.

It's a problem that's half of CDPR's own making, but also half that the hardware that the PS 4 released with (and the Xbox One) is really, really crap from an objective standpoint. There's only so much you can practically do by optimising what's beefed up laptop-grade hardware from before AMD managed to get its shit back on track.

And having to maintain parallel development tracks (or the whole thing where you'd have another company doing a downgraded and stripped-down version of a game) is not desirable.

I admit to a much much more cynical view that Playstation is just punishing CD Projekt Red for dumping the return issue in their lap.

[up]Which is why I believe there are probably some level of specified conditions to allow it back on the P Store. I see it less out of spite but more "Fine, we broke our own refund policy that you were aware of because you made promises about refunds, but your game will come back on our store when it meets our criteria".

And that's... fair. I don't agree with Sony's policy at all but the refund promise isn't that great from a business relationship stand point. This would further explain why buggy/crash loaded games that came before *weren't* removed; it's more the business of the promise rather then the product itself.

But I don't know where that puts things if, realistically, 2077 will never meet the standards on that ancient ass hardware.

Just got a brand new gaming rig that is just shy of the GTX 3000 quality (I'm in the 2000s), but it is running crazy good all the latest games pre Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra or max settings. Fantastic gaming machine. So now that I got a rig that can remotely play this beast, any bugs or still outstanding things that could mar my experience of the game that I need to be aware of? Or has it all been patched out by now?

It's better. The game is a lot less prone to catastrophic crashing. There's still a lot of visual glitches and weird things remain. So really depends on your tolerance for this.

[up][up] If the game starts stuttering, instead of monkeying with graphics settings, turn down the crowd density.

Turned out that high crowd densities hit the CPU something fierce, tanking the performance.
