I've been playing, though not as much as I'd like. I'm pretty sure I just got to the end of the "following people around" section you're talking about. I didn't particularly mind it, but being off on my own will be a good change of pace.
As far as linearity... well, the original wasn't exactly a Wide-Open Sandbox, why would you expect anything else from the sequel?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. So game is released now huh
Minor update that allows FOV customization.
Jonah FalconDammit I got the "Bad" ending.
And I worked so hard to get the good one. I guess you really gotta go pacifist for everyone huh?
Not really, it's possible to kill some but still got good ending...though yeah you should listen to all convo and mainly punch people in the face rather than shoot them...
Give me cute or give me...something?Huh, does anyone who has played the game know if "that" scene has any in game context that makes it more meaningful or if its appealing for lowest common dete... Deteminator.. Err, whatever the word was
Could you be more specific? Or at least point to a timestamp or something? Video's a half-hour long, man.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.^^ Well, Venice is a Wretched Hive Of Scum And Villainy, of course there's strip club there...it's also where Pavel goes to have fun and then discuss about Korbut's plan and you have to go spy them...and really it's possible to not see the lap dance (since you need to pay bullet to see it)...the pole dancing is there always tho, but you can just easily walk by
Also, denominator...

Give me cute or give me...something?Just finished the game. The Lil' guy reminded me of Elizabeth and Clememtine, two of the characters I'm most fond of.
Overall I really enjoyed this game, through I felt the moral of it get a bit confused towards the end. After the buildups and the surrenderings and everything, all geared to make us think before simply just shooting every poor bastards between our crosshairs, the last stage is generic "Here's Minigun, There's enemies. Shoot."
Just finished it as well. I lost interest for a while when the pacing got really bad toward the middle of the game (oh hi there, ridiculously-telegraphed-superfluous-boss-fights!), but it improves significantly after that. Overall, I'd say it wasn't quite as good as the original, but still worth playing.
As far as the end, I don't think it confuses the moral. The moral isn't "you should always talk instead of fight", it's "you should talk instead of fight if you can". In the ending, obviously, you can't. I actually felt it capped off the game pretty well. You spend the whole game struggling to set the stage, and then getting to cut loose and just make shit happen — no worrying about gas masks or filters, no sneaking around or having to save ammo for later — is your reward. I honestly would've preferred that the final level be a little bit longer, though better over too quickly than dragging on too long, I'd say.
Got the Redemption ending, without having to "break character" and make any choices specifically for the moral points. I got the Ranger ending in the first game, so it made for a nice little character arc for Artyom.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. What's your favorite gun(s) in the whole series?
I love the Shambler Shotgun; so damn unique and the reloading is godly XD
And the new German-style pistol that you can customized into an SMG later on.
Of course the double-barrel shotgun, Dupont is also cool; you can make it a quad-barrel! How crazy is that?
A stranger is like the shadows. It is so common to the world everyone will just ignore them.My favorite was the abzats, hands down. It's basically a machine-gun shotgun with a 20 (upgradable to 40!) round box magazine, and its secondary mode fires six shells at once, when you really feel like overkill.
I was also fond of my revolver with extended stock, IR sight, and silencer. That was my ninja gun, when I was sneaking around and was too far away for a melee takedown or throwing knives.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Midweek madness sale on steam brought me to buying the franchise pack (this game, Metro 2033, the RPK pack and Ranger Mode). Not bad for twenty pounds but being unable to gift the Metro 2033 title I already had was a bit of a dick move. I also noticed that a lot of the other dlc hadn't been discounted.
Still, finally have the game. Now it can sit on my game library shelf until I get bored with Oblivion and Skyrim and have completed Metro 2033.
Super Necro inbound but has anyone heard any news regarding that PS 4 version they hinted at some time ago?
Or another title or something?
I'm really desperate for more of this game, I loved it
Oh really when?Yet another necro inbound for good cause this time.
Metro returns
I noticed that on Steam. I think the discount if you already have both games in your library is a bit crap. Fifty percent reduction seems a bit low, I don't think there's fifty percent more content in it. I got the Deus Ex Human Revolution superwhizzy edition and I got a lot more than fifty percent off when I bought that as a reward for my loyalty.
Well the 2033 half is supposed to be completely revamped. And I'm guessing all the Last Light DLC is included.
It is a bit much if you think about it. I managed to pick up the fancy Human Revolution for $5.00
Still, I'm planning on getting it for my PS 4 so I'm happy.
Oh really when?Well, the games are only $25 each anyway, so it's not like they're selling them at a full new-game $60 price point. If you own both then you can get the new versions (which does, in fact, include all the DLC) for $25, which isn't too bad. I don't personally plan to pick up the redux versions, but that's mostly because I already have a huge backlog I'm trying to work my way through. It's certainly a good deal if you haven't played either of them yet.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Metro Redux get!
Currently installing on my PS 4 as we speak, anyone else buy it today?
Oh really when?I want to get this for my Xbox but I'm put off by the control scheme of the first game...
Then you should be happy to know that both the HUD and control scheme in the updated 2033 match the one in Last Light which matches your standard FPS control scheme. For the most part at least.
Something else neat I noticed, when you're concealed in shadows the little PS 4 controller lightbar is off but when you're lit up so is the bar. Neat stuff.
Anyway, making my way through the prologue of 2033 now, everything looks staggeringly beautiful

Oh really when?Thank you. I can ask for it for Christmas, I guess XD
Moving onto Riga station with the caravan now. Everything still looks amazing. Sadly the hair still looks like plastic but the incredible detail on literally everything else makes up for it. The lighting has also received a huge overhaul as well.
2033 it seems has the entire UI, HUD and control scheme from Last Light. Fast melee and Last Light's inventory system included. It also shares the same weapon customization and it's stores act the same too.
Interestingly enough I saw one of the Rangers with an underbarrel grenade launcher on his AK in the prologue. It was an attachment that was cut from Last Light and never even appeared in the original 2033 at all so this is getting my hopes up that it's back.
Hunter also had a bayonet on his VSK. Not sure whether that means anything though as NPCs always had a smattering of attachments on their guns that you can't usually unlock but I'm hopeful.
Oh really when?I really liked Metro 2033 (and Last Light was alright too), but I couldn't quite justify re-purchasing the game just for shiny new graphics.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
It's been out for a couple of days now. Anyone having fun with this game?
Total Biscuit recently made a WTF Is of it. Long story short, he loves the game and is currently his favorite shooter of the year, better than Bioshock Infinite. What few complaints he does have mostly revolve around the overly linear nature of its first 4 hours where you spend most of the time following another guy around and he stops you when the game tells you too.
