Baldr Sky (P5 only)

As I understand it, this is just your standard visual novel, with a couple sex scenes here and there, but let's get some more detail.

Paraphrased from the CV thread:

The given reason is lolicon, but unless it's the focus of the work/the majority of the girls' "appeal", that shouldn't be enough to cut it.

^ Precedent disagrees with you. Big Bang Age was already cut. Personally, I agree with you, but that's not the way the policy worked before.

Do the Mini Moe girls have sex scenes? I don't think that should be allowed.

If it's the primary draw, by all means cut it. But if they are a small percentage of the overall casts/choices/etc., that's hardly pedo-pandering, isn't it?

I think it depends on the content. We did cut a work for having too many pantyshots, so I don't think buttnaked sex would pass muster.

Hell if I know. Most probably justify it with Older Than They Look, which I know isn't an excuse with the P5.

I just don't like it when works with one/a minor amount of young looking characters as options are cut even though there are many other options.

Again, why the fuck would a game make it an option to have sex with a little girl?

I can't think of a more clear way to say how fucked up that is.

Oh I agree it's fucked up, don't get me wrong. But when an entire, otherwise very good work is cut because of a single option, it just rubs me the wrong way.

As for the "why", I think it's to fill a "quota", just like Token Mini-Moe implies.

Lots of Japanese stuff does it. I tried to make an issue of the subject earlier so we could make a definite stance on this, but it didn't get anywhere. Underaged sex scenes are bad, correct? Don't want any of that. However, the two points people are likely to bring up against that are first, that it takes up some infinitesimal piece of the narrative and nobody ever talks about it on the trope. Second, that it's really, really common and a lot of stuff would end up being cut.

I'm trying not to advocate either way with the above, but I probably did. Anyway, I think that's what really needs to be discussed, not Baldr Sky specifically.

The reason is pretty obvious. There's an audience for it, and at least one person involved in making the game decided they should pander to it.

In any case, I've never played this, so I can't actually help.

The fact that "lots of" Japanese games, cartoon animes, etc make it a point to include the "token fuckable little girl" is very disturbing to me.

The fact that a lot of fans of Japanese stuff finds that normal is even more disturbing.

I'm sure nobody will be surprised to learn I give not even a single fuck about this "token sexualized prepubescent girl" quota. If it's there, it's a cutvote.

It's more a cute little girl than a fuckable little girl. They usually aren't taken seriously by the protag since she's like 10.

^^ Yeah, it's creepy and I kinda hate it. Whenever I play a VN I always always hate that they include that kind of character. I'm merely hoping that the P5 as a whole can state their opinion on the matter one way or the other. I expect them to say 'No means no, even if it's .01%' and then we can have that as established precedent and simply move on.

@animeg - if she's just there for the protagonist to say, "aww, you're so sweet but too young for me," that's fine. If there's the option of having sex with her and the art to show it, it's not fine.

Yea, I don't want to see some dude bang a little kid either. That's my personal squick, though.

I would call it "being a decent and fairly normal human" rather than "personal squick."

Anyway, we have Martello's opinion. Can we hold off on deciding Baldr Sky until we have the word of the other P5 members? If we get a concrete ruling on that we can avoid having this conversation again in the future.

...Well, unless it turns out to be like the rape thing that people keep wanting to add to the guidelines.

My reading of the existing guidelines is pretty much the same, if there are any explicit underage sex scenes played for titillation, the work is to be cut.

And the amount compared to the total length is thus irrelevant as is the importance of the scene to the work as a whole? Asking neutrally just so we have it cleared up once and for all.

Okay, three P5 stating their opinion definitively. Thank you for the little derailing thing so we could get that settled cleanly.

In that case, yes, Baldr Sky does apparently contain such elements in small amounts and thus needs to be removed. It is unfortunate that a story I'm told is otherwise quite good had to include such content, but apparently they felt the need to pander. Too bad that it, has to go, but that's the way it is.

Edit: Hold on, someone is telling me that the underaged characters don't have sex. Let me find out for sure.
