The name makes it sound like it's about horror stories or horror comics, particularly horror anthologies like "Tales from the Crypt," but the trope is actually about exaggerated or fabricated tabloid stories (it covers everything from "Lady Gaga's Secret Sex Change" to "Alligator Boy Strikes Again, Baffles Florida State Police."

It needs a new name. Maybe something along the lines as (suggested in ykttw) "The National Exaggerator" or something similar that makes it clear this is about tabloids, not horror stories or anthologies.

The TRS rules now state that if you're going to claim a name is ambiguous, you must show evidence of misuse. You are welcome to start a new thread for this trope, with the a wick check or other evidence that the name is misused or underused.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
