But apparently Jiren is horrendously low-tier.

• Trunks: Mom! Something's wrong with my hair! It's been changing colors for the last few days and it might be a Saiyan thing? Gohan never said anything about Super Saiyan forms with blue hair.
• Bulma: Oh, sweetie, that's just your blueberry genes. Saiyan hair doesn't grow past a certain point, but it's also a recessive gene. You got my hair instead.
• Trunks: Oh. Well, that's disappointing. I thought I might have achieved a new Super Saiyan level or something.
• Years later
• Vegeta: (powers up to Super Saiyan Blue)
• Trunks: Wait, for the record, there is a blue-haired Super Saiyan form?!
• Vegeta: Yes.
• Trunks: So does that mean—
• Vegeta: No. Your hair is weird.

Judging by the current preview on the Saikyo Jump website,◊ seems like the MC (playing SS Goku) and his friends (playing SS Vegeta and Yamcha) are doing a party battle against a rival team, consisting of Tien, Nappa and Krillin mains.

And if you think about it, Season 3 isn't that kind to Jiren

He got slightly buffed but he is still pretty terrible. And they are also releasing a dramatic finish where Goku and Frieza kick his ass.

Poor poor Jiren.

Man, that rival team has a rough team comp. Nappa AND Krillin? Oof. Meanwhile, the MC's team is running all high-tiers.

Ultra Instinct Goku looking to be a counter character as well is making me nervous. Although it would be kind of hilarious if he turned out to a strictly better version of Jiren.

I figure by the time they started designing UI Goku, they had learned a few things from their failures with Jiren.

Jiren's problem was he was an attempt to make a completely defensive - to the point of being largely stationary - character in a game where offense and mobility ruled, and he ended up with very little way to get around the things he was built to get around. He's basically a Gen 1 defensive Pokemon.

There are partially defensive characters in the game (well, Hit mostly. Arguably Ginyu. And I think Krillin was meant to be one, but lol that didn't work out either), they work by zoning to deal with the mobility. Jiren just... had counters, with the expectation that the opponent would come to him. Which... not a great idea in a game designed like FighterZ is, not to mention that the counters didn't even work half the time.

The game's lower decks are filled with characters who were meant to have a singular gimmick, one that failed upon collision with the rest of the cast. Jiren is a great example.

UI Goku already looks like they're leaning into the mobility by giving him ways of zipping around the stage, so he might not have the same problems.

Okay this is an amusing parody, fusion of DB & DC.

Gohan & Piccolo pull off the Justice League cosplay pretty well. And Batman's DB analog is both hilarious & genius.

There's another video like this but its a DB wank-fest with Vegeta & Goku double-teaming the entire DC universe & it ends with Roshi running off with an unconscious Wonder Woman after she got her ass kicked by Chi-Chi (bleh) so I'm not gonna post it.

That was honestly just a bunch of iconic Dragon Ball scenes mashed together in justice league outfits and only one joke repeated throughout the entire video.

That is very much true. Honestly I was getting rather tired of it less than half-way through.

But Gohan rocks the S well enough so I figured “Eh why the fuck not.”

Plus Batman looks like an idiot which is always something nice to see.

edit: nevermind, Superboy is Superman's clone in the comics right? It must be a reference to that.

Actually that jacket Kid Gohan looks exactly the same as the one worn by Jonathan Kent, Superman's son with Lois who is the current Superboy.

So I'm gonna assume they got the characters mixed up or something.

I was kinda hoping they'd make a joke outta the Martian Manhunter's intangibility like by having him block Gohan only to turn intangible & wind up getting the kid shot.

The writer responsible for that, Brian Micheal Bendis, is very controversial.

His current Superman run is kinda unpopular especially because of the treatment to Superboy.

That description sounds like a Revenge Fic for a writer who hates Superboy.

It’s less maliciousness & more total apathy.

Bendis just does not give a flying fuck. He never makes any attempt at studying or researching the characters history or even basic continuity or status. For instance he will have characters who are supposed to be currently dead randomly appear alive & never give any answer for how they are alive in the first place.

Or in this case where his Superboy is considered to be written extremly out of character.

He does what he wants & only what he wants with no one else considered.

Yup Jon is now too old hang out with Damien plus he has a new personality that is apparently “creepy” from what I hear. Gonna have to wait to until Status Quo hits & Jon reverts back to his original adorable kid character.

I don’t like Bendis so I haven’t been reading his run. He’s only good on street heroes like Jessica Jones anyway.

He also created Rogol Zar who’s revealed to have been the one who destroyed Krypton kinda like Frieza.

It's a shame, the original UMS run was really good (although there was seem real weirdness in some of the issues) and the best part of the Ultimate Universe - but towards the end of that run, and a lot of what Bendis has worked on since, I've been very put off his work.

Now it feels like his writing is synonymous with apathetic story & character treatment.

Okay I'm just gonna keep going for a bit more cause these "What the fuck" reactions are fun.

Jon's aging up is due to spending time in space with his grandpa Jor-El who's batshit insane, the Supermarriage is being plagued with iffy writing for instance Lois publicized that she is in a relationship with Superman despite being legally married to Clark making it seem like to the public that she's having an affair, Superman outed his identity to the world so everyone knows who he is now & is working as both a writer and mascot at the Daily Planet, & according to recent issues he is now President of the United States of America....... or Earth, I'm not sure which one exactly.
