I mean, ROF justifies why Frieza is strong enough to be useful in the tournament, as his previous level wouldn't have left him do jack and shit against all but the weakest fighters.
Truth be told, they didn't need to pull the same stunt with Buu again. If Toriyama hadn't been so determined to make sure Future Trunks stays fucked (and not in a good way that involves Mai HEY YO!)...
....shit, I forgot I still hate that relationship. Damn my desire to tell a poor joke.
Anyway, if not for that, he could have used Future Trunks and kept Buu. Though the latter would have been bereft of his sword, but weapons in Dragonball are the only things more useless than every human on earth so no real loss.

I mean, there was that one time when he got the shit beaten outta him by her. He didn't take that very well.
I have a friend who likes to go back and rewatch Android 18 shitstomping Vegeta for catharsis when men being shitty to her becomes overbearing. That fight is her #1 favorite thing in all of Dragon Ball.

Can I just point out the irony of expressing annoyance at how 18 was treated over 17, when for years it was the opposite?
Before Super, 18 was consistently more prominent than 17. You could make an argument that despite her lackluster showing in Super, we know more about 18's character than 17's given we've seen the farmer's personal life more while the latter's family hasn't even had an onscreen appearance.

Even if 17 ended up being the star of the show, I'd say the Tournament of Power is still 18's most prominent action role since the Cell Saga.

Looking back, 18's fight against Vegeta, isn't just a good fight for a female, but a good fight period.
I mean, every other woman in DB who threw a punch was played as joke who stood no chance against their male contemporaries. 18 did more than stand a chance: she completely beat Vegeta into paste.
I mean, it's no wonder she's one of the series most popular characters: everything about her initial appearance is just right.
Hate Vegeta? Well then winner winner, chicken dinner! Watch him get his ass beat!

Want to see a female martial artist actually worth a damn? We got your back on this one too!
Want to see if the Androids are worth all the hype after the disappointment of 19 and 20? Guess what? She's the weaker of the two, and this is what she does to a Super Saiyan who isn't suffering fro a debilitating disease!

Of course, 17 deserves props as well for being one half of one the best (and damn near few) Non-Goku fights in the entire series that didn't end in a complete stomp. That's why him coming back is a treat...or was.

Hell, at least she still did stuff when that wasn't happening.
Recall how in the manga, she was just tossed out in seconds without doing anything (but getting kicked in the guy by Ribrianne).
....although to be honest, I feel like both are bad. One gave her time, but fell to stereotypes, the other gave her nothing.

Toei shilled 17 a lot but didn't toriyama tell both them and toyotaro that 17 was gonna win it all, I figured since they knew he was gonna be the final champ, they should focus on him more.
I have to agree with Moth. At least 18’s fight with Ribrianne was pretty cool….I swear I’m the only person who doesn’t despise the Maiden Trio. And compared to the manga, I’m just happy 18 got to actually KO people and have more interactions with. She got like 6 wins in the Tournament of Power, right?
17 got stronger fighting Poachers…or the animals on the island? Cuz some of them freaks would be pretty hard to fight without trying to kill them.
Wait, Rob, could Trunks just make a sword out of energy? Cuz those are technically allowed: Katosperl….the Fourth stronger Pride Trooper….I can’t spell his name had the Justice Swords or something.
Bt B, anyone feels like 18 and 17 are like a Glass Cannon and Stone Wall respectively based on the TOP? Cuz 17’s fighting style revolved around using the barriers while 18

Wouldn't you do the same if someone called your spouse ugly and questioned why you fell in love with them? Besides, it wasn't her sole defining trait throught the arc and it was a sweet scene overall.

I'm sorry Tien, but I must go all out.
I really liked the U2 Maidens, they were fun, had a ton of cool moves, and facilitated some of the best minor fights in the Tournament of Power. I'd actually love if Ribrianne (with Kakunsa and Rozie as assists) became a playable character in Fighterz (with a Dramatic Intro with 17 and a Dramatic Finish with 18).

It was a hilariously ridiculous scene & honestly I can't spare any sympathy for Krillen due to his poor performance in the tournament.
He got sucker-punched like a chump so the least he can do is take the punishment.
