Piccolo weaker than Goten and Trunks? Yep, this kind of theory is why I think the years where the franchise wasn't producing new story was detrimental; it allowed the internet to come up with fanwank.

At least El Grande Padre and El Hermano wasn't taken seriously.

What makes that fanwank? Piccolo might be stronger than 18, but honestly, we don't even know how much.

All we know is that he got stronger after a trip to the ROSAT, was weaker than Goku & Cell, and then in the Boo arc is weaker than Kaioshin & the adult Super Saiyans.

To be so convinced that he's stronger to dismiss the alternative as fan wank without even hearing out the argument is totally asinine.

It's not even just a particularly supported fan theory. Official guidebooks that exist for no other reason than to be references on these matters outright said that Goten and Trunks are stronger than Piccolo.

As soon as you explain to me why Buu wasn't wearing Trunks' gi when Gotenks' fusion ran out. You know, the thing that grabs your eye and is batantly in front of you, rather than comparing details that the author himself wouldn't really care about because Toriyama will Toriyama.

Seriously, this is the same as Krillin vs. Tenshinhan. Yamcha stating the former as the strongest human is the only valid argument (and I wouldn't put past Toriyama forgetting about Ten when writting that). Anything else? Fanwank from the 00's. Half of the arguments posted in this thread, I read them on Game FA Qs 12 and a half years ago.

I will when I get home but that is a really flawed point on the outfit. We later see that Boo looks significantly different when he's just got Piccolo absorbed, showing that Gotten and Trunks had a big influence on Boo's appearance when the three of them were absorbed. Also Fat Boo's appearance isn't based on the strongest Kaioshin he absorbed, but the one that influenced him most.

The Ten one is also a bad example but I really don't want to get sidetracked on that. Accusing others of fanwank when Ten has literally nothing in his favour is incredibly poor form though.

Trunks was in base form when we saw him in the pod. Piccolo is still stronger than base Trunks.

The idea that the strongest fusion determines Buu's appearance is also pure headcanon. We know that, for example, South Kaioshin was stronger than Grand Kaioshin, yet Buu took after the latter when both were absorbed.

I agree, similar to how 100% of the evidence in that old 'debate' is for Krillin, 100% of the evidence here is for the kids. Piccolo did nothing of note combat-wise after getting beaten up by Cell other than cry and panic at the thought of having to face Kaioshin.

I also hope we get to see more of Broly in the future, even if just cameos.

Ten deflects one of Buu's attacks and has the holding Cell back scene. Krillin is a scared underdog in every fight after arriving on Namek. That's the image we get. To think people couldn't make conclusions out of this is... jarring.

Oh well, talking about Z is an echo chamber that leads nowhere, we can agree on having enjoyed it, but everything else is just... annoying to discuss. It reeks of dogma. In a shonen series with an author who forgets about characters.

Yeah, I fail to see what the age of the arguments or evidence has to actually do with anything.

Especially when any new stuff would come from Super, for which there is both an anime and manga don't even seem to try to align with one another except for in very broad strokes.

neither of those prove how strong he is sincehis opponents hopelessly outmatched him and the blast he deflected was meant to kill Dende. Nothing that compares him to Kuririn.

Kuririn's personality also doesn't dictate his strength. Also you're ignoring that he overwhelmed Guldo, beat up Ginyu-Goku and stood up to Freeza.

Of course I can see why people think that. It doesn't make them right.

So when Goku finally pulled off ultra instinct, people started comparing it to other works that used similar concepts, like Ip Man and Rao from Fist Of The North Star. From their, the meme mutated to anyone with any kind of unconscious combat ability, like Spider-man's spider sense, and from there mutated into well, just about anything, like the "power of nothingness" from Street Fighter (Ultra Instinct Ryu) or "Bold! Shaggy". I wish I had the recording ability to do "Ultra Instinct Pit", or, for maximum meme potential, "Ultra Instinct Beam Claws"

And no, in the animated version of the anniversary special Abo and Kado were only as strong as Freeza, although each was as strong as Freeza individually, so collectively they were a greater threat, and they had a "secret technique" that allowed them to become even more dangerous. And Goten and Trunks beating them in base, well they were only able to do so with Gohan's coaching. Granted, that speaks to their lack of skill, not their lack of power, but if Goten and Trunks were really so much stronger it would not have mattered. Finally, Yo! Son Goku And His Friends Return takes place after the Buu Saga, so it in no way provides clarity to base Goten's strength relative to Freeza in the Buu saga.

As for Super Trunks vs 18, Trunk's relatively pathetic showing in the gravity room has no bearing on it, because Vegeta trains Trunks afterwards. And it doesn't matter anyway, 18 later surpasses small Trunks in Super, and small Trunks will almost certainly return the favor if the franchise goes on long enough.
